ASilentObserver June 12th

Hello all, I hope you are all being easy on yourself this week.

A couple of weeks ago we discussed: What challenges are you facing that you need help with? Thank you to all who participated and shared their thoughts and questions for discussion. They were thought-provoking questions and thoughts. I hope you all did too. If you didn't share yours, please share them here and I look forward to reading and discussing them with you

This week's prompt: Imagine a perfect day where you feel neither lonely nor depressed. Describe what that day would look like.

I know for many visualizing it can be difficult and may not feel any point, but I would encourage you to give it a try. It does not have to be all perfect, just imagine and share what you can.

Let's get started and share your thoughts with us. I look forward to hearing all your thoughts and ideas.

Note: I invite all to help me with creating these weekly prompt discussions so that we all can come together and discuss something related to depression every week. If you any interested in helping me out, please share your interest through this form and  I will reach out to you to guide and support you in creating the next discussion.

@ASilentObserver Lovely question! I've never really visualized it. I think it can help a lot to realize where I want to be going, what I am missing or maybe even what restrains me.

For my perfect day... I imagine waking up quite early. Just before sunrise, I think. I'd watch the sunrise to be grateful for a new day. Be it while being on a walk with a dog or similiar, or just sitting outside, watching the sun going up. I love the silence in the early morning hours.

Then I'd like to go through the day with all my chores and dutys that I have. There may not be a certain order. Every day is unique, so is every daily routine for me. It's most likely different each time because I enjoy dynamic changes. Enjoying each moment, doing whatever I am doing with all my heart, enjoying it, be it washing dishes, preparing stuff for work or just enjoying one of my hobbies, like drawing or reading.

Towards the end of the day, like about 18:00-19:00 aka. 6-7PM, I'd enjoy to settle a bit more down. Maybe another walk? Just trying to enjoy that I exist. Maybe watching some Videos that I enjoy, a podcast, whatever. I'd just start to gradually slow things a bit more down, until eventually, it's night and I'll lay down in bed, looking forward to start the next day and keeping working on myself~

I think that's roughly how I'd imagine my perfect day... <3

@Waschbaerkebab It seems like you are seeking balance and harmony in your life. You value simplicity, self-care, and appreciation for the present moment. How do these ideals guide you in your current circumstances?

Oh I really like this question. I moved a couple years ago to a completely new and foreign country away from all my family and friends. I really miss them and this is one of the things that can trigger a depressive mood in me.

So in that case a perfect day for me would include being able to have a sunny BBQ with all of then out by a lake, so we can swim, hang out, make each other laugh and enjoy some good food together. 😊 🏊‍♂️ ⛱️ 🍔

@aCalmOasis It seems like connection with loved ones brings you a lot of joy. What prevents you from having these types of gatherings?

Yes family is the most important thing to me. Right now there's a few roadblocks. I live in a concrete jungle of a city where you need a car (which I currently dont have) to access natural spaces. I don't have a bbq either lol. Also since moving to a new country it's been difficult to make new friends here for a multitude of reasons.

That being said I do have maybe five people I could invite (who I don't know all that well) over to my apartment and we could have a potluck or something. So there is a way, its not anything like what I described above but it could do, it would be a start. One of the other roadblocks is that my family and I have been stuck in various degrees of depression since moving to a new country so just getting through a day can be a challenge for any one of us. It's quite stressful.

@ASilentObserver lovely question but I can only imagine that btw On a perfect day free from loneliness and depression, every moment would be infused with warmth and connection. I would wake up feeling a sense of calm and purpose, surrounded by the comforting embrace of loved ones. Throughout the day, I would cherish deep conversations and heartfelt laughter, sharing genuine moments of understanding and support. In the presence of those who truly care, I would feel safe to express my emotions freely, knowing I am accepted and valued. As the day unfolds, I would engage in activities that nourish my soul—whether it's exploring nature, immersing myself in creative pursuits, or simply enjoying quiet moments of reflection. Each interaction would be filled with empathy and compassion, reaffirming my sense of belonging and reminding me of the beauty in human connection. As the sun sets, I would carry with me a profound sense of gratitude and fulfillment, knowing that I have experienced a day where love and understanding prevailed over any feelings of loneliness or sadness.

@ASilentObserver Thanks for giving me an idea to wonder about. Thoughts have the power to shape our reality and I am grateful to have this space here to form a thought that I can turn into my reality soon.

My ideal day looks like a day off where I have nothing else pending but just to pass the time as I have a lot to look forward to that I am excited about but I also am so mindful of the free time that I have right now that I am using it in that best way possible and for me it would be to paint a beautiful picture while listening to some calming songs or affirmations. A day where I can enjoy all the little things cause it's all about me and my space. Any negativity or toxicity will be so far away from me that I won't even hear it's faintest scream. A day where anxiety and fear would just have to take a seat and relax :) while letting peace and happiness be at the forefront, in the spotlight. I look forward to having a day where it's all about my peace, my heart and the kindness that I feel.

Imagine a perfect day where you feel neither lonely nor depressed. Describe what that day would look like.

I have never really thought about it because I can't remember the last time I was truly happy. A perfect day for me would be a sunny day outdoors with flowers and trees. A place with few people, away from the city and traffic. A place where I can smile and laugh without judgement. Someplace I can explore with my kids and just enjoy nature. There would be no worries and no negative thoughts about myself.

@NotAllHere713 It seems like you long for a peaceful environment where you can connect with nature and be yourself without judgment. What would a perfect week look like for you?

@ASilentObserver

A perfect week for me would start off with no one yelling at me. No one telling me, " I am not enough, I'm not pretty, I screw up everything, I'm stupid, etc." People would say "hi" and I would say "hi" back. People around me would act genuinely and care about me instead of what they can get from me. Work would be less stressful. The management would be organized. Everyone on the road knows how to drive and make signals. I would be able to smile. I could relax and feel confident in myself. I could stop worrying about things I can't control.

Very sorry to hear that people say things like that to you. You deserve so much better. I hope you get better treatment from people. Hugs.

@ASilentObserver Wake up and watch the sunrise with my friends, then drive in the car for an hour, blasting Hozier the whole way and screaming the lyrics. Then we go to random places for the rest of the day; abandoned buildings, places w food trucks. kinda going wherever the wind takes us. After dinner we go on a hike off trail in the woods for hours until we find a nice high spot to watch the sunset. Then we pitch a tent and stay the night.

@ASilentObserver My sense of a perfect day would be to get up in the wee hours in the morning and bathing in the beauty of a beautiful sunrise! I like to begin my day in silence or by engaging in some spiritual practices like red-light meditation or tratak (candle-light meditation) practice. This followed by listening to some motivational videos and calming songs/music. Yoga and Pranayama are essential too. I love to free write and journal my thoughts. Then the rest of the morning I would like to spend in learning the program I have recently enrolled in. I would like to spend all day in silence and detachment, but alas, all this seems too good to be true. My days are filled with cacophony because my daughter is growing up and she needs my attention in some areas. This is the part I like doing because I am completely invested as a mother, but I do not necessarily enjoy playing the wife because my husband has a patriarchal mindset and has unrealistic expectations from me. There are many days when all I ever plan goes for a toss thanks to him.

@shyMap8007 It looks like you have a clear idea of what helps you feel peaceful and focused. however being a mom and dealing with your husband's expectations takes a lot of energy from you. Which aspects of being a mom bring you joy?

@ASilentObserver I love everything about being a mum...my baby was my priority from the day she was born. I have spent every waking minute with her, seeing her grow, and it is such a proud moment to see her evolve into a young lady today and develop a strong voice of her own. I sincerely wish, hope, and pray that she continues to retain the purity, innocence, kindness, and compassion in her heart as she does today :)

Imagin a perfect day where you feel neither lonely nor depressed. Describe what that day would look like.

I would wake up at 2 am so that I could pray my first prayer and then I'd go back to sleep. I'd then wake up at 6am so that I can get myself ready for the day ahead of me. So I would have a shower and do my hair and get dressed.

I'd then get the children ready for school at 7am and get them to school (I already do this but I've included it as it's still what my day would be like).

Afterwards, I'd go to the gym and make sure I do at least an hour of exercise including weight training and cardio. I'd quickly get some groceries for lunch and dinner and then go back home.

I'd then want to do some learning and then do some cleaning and chores. I'd start lunch at midday and after eating I would quickly wash up and then I'd pray again. After prayer I'd give myself some time to relax and do some more learning.

At 2:45pm I'd then set off to get the children from school. They will come back and I'll prepare some snacks and get them out of their school clothes and then I'd do some learning with them, both about the world and school. I'd then do some playing with them for 30 minutes, and then pray again.

Then at 5:30/6pm I'd start their dinner. We would then eat and I'll wash up and get the children into bed early. I'd then get myself ready by 8am and set out to do some recording for my hobby. I'd then pray again and then read until the next prayer comes and then I'd go to sleep.
