...See more 🎃 HAPPY HALLOWEEN !! 🎃 If you are celebrating Halloween today with festivities and treats, I hope it is SPOOKTACULAR!! 👻 I will most likely be cuddled up on my couch eating candy and looking to watch something. What is your go to Halloween movie? I need ideas. 😊 My favorite movie genres are thrillers, mysteries or campy Halloween movies. I am too sensitive for really scary or gory movies. Here is a creepy Halloween themed ambiance video from the brilliantly creative mind of Christine McConnell to help get you in the mood. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NnSXFi5dEY [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NnSXFi5dEY] Please be safe everyone!
Still trying to find routine and make it stick, but how?

...See more Can anyone else relate? I feel like my morning routine still could use some organization. This is something that comes so unnaturally to those of us with ADHD. It is a real struggle sometimes. They say it takes about three weeks to develop anything into a new habit but when you tend to look for novelty all the time. How can we find the balance? I recently read that it is better to incorporate changes slowly. So for example instead of trying to schedule your entire morning out. Just add or change one single thing at a time and wait until it has become an ingrained habit. Once it has you can move on to incorporating something else. Feel free to share your own stories about your struggles and successes with routine below.
I have been experimenting!

...See more Note: this is not medical advice and you should not be taken as such. It is my own experience and observations I am sharing.   Hey everyone, I just wanted to share some of my takeaways from trying out cold therapy for the last two weeks. I was made aware of this from Joseph Pack, a presenter from the ADHD conference that happened earlier this month. If you are interested in learning more, I will link his website below. He teaches drug free methods to manage ADHD symptoms and part of his program is using cold exposure therapy.  The method entails exposing yourself to cold water for a few seconds after having your regular shower to increase the production of two neurotransmitters that are generally low in quantity in a person with ADHD. It increases the transmitter of dopamine by 250% and norepinephrine, which is both a transmitter and hormone by 500% in the brain for three hours after exposure. He claims that there are scientific papers that can prove all of this. So I decided to give it a try for myself and put it to the test. I started with 3 seconds of exposure and have gradually worked my way up to 7 seconds in two weeks time. Initially, this was uncomfortable, no doubt about it, but the clarity I felt in my mind afterward was a truly amazing feeling that propelled me to continue doing it. I made sure to note my state of mind and quality of clarity prior to the exposure versus afterward and I experienced a considerable state of heightened cognitive ability after exposure. I can also confirm that these effects did last for hours afterwards allowing me to have better concentration and sustained energy levels throughout the day. I still have to pump myself up to get into the cold water every time, but I am noticing it is slowly getting easier to do and I look forward to that lasting feeling of clarity now. This positive anticipation proves to me that it is increasing my dopamine levels. He suggests working your way up to staying in the cold water for two and a half minutes. Doing this therapy not only naturally increases these transmitters, but it also allows you to build grit and mental toughness which I believe helps with self confidence and perseverance.    Joseph Pack's ADHD coaching site: https://www.drugfreeadhd.org/ [https://www.drugfreeadhd.org/] ADHD conference replay: (Joseph's talk is the first one)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pgl5GtDhVTA&t=2976s

...See more Hey everyone, I managed to catch bits and pieces of a few of the presentations from the recent global ADHD conference. I recommend watching the replays if you are curious about learning some of the useful information that was shared there. There was everything from approaching ADHD drug free, to exercises that reduce anxiety and emotional volatility, to hearing success stories to inspire and dispel stigma and so much more. They can be found on the ADHD UK channel which I will link below. The presentations are lumped together in one long video. There were two in total and each ran around 9 hours in length. To skip to a particular section I will include a link to the schedule.   https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUNwB38b5CCIF7i9oeHVHMg  https://globaladhd.com/global-conference-schedule/
Book recommendation for this month

...See more Hey guys I wanted to share an interesting book I recently came across. I plan on getting an e-book copy of it and reading it over this month. I invite you to join me and we can discuss it at the end of October. The book was authored by Thom Hartmann, a former psychotherapist, who proposes that the hallmark traits of ADHD are what our hunter ancestors would have exhibited during the hunter-gatherer days of our species. He further elaborates that even though the age of agriculture and industry occurred these early genetic dispositions survived the gene pool and that we are simply hunters in a farmer's world. The book comes from an evolutionary psychology perspective and his theory began after Thom was inspired by a scientific journal paper he read one night. Many years of study and research ensued as he sat down and talked with many of the experts leading the studies in ADHD. The first edition of this book was written in 1993. It has since been updated to include updated scientific information that further proves the validity of his theory in 2019. This book provides hope and a new way of framing our understanding of ADHD, more over celebrating its unique characteristics and dispelling stigma and shame around the condition. I will include an article written by Thom about his book so you can get a sample of what kind of information you will find in his book. Comment below and let me know if you want to join in on this reading adventure. https://www.hunterinafarmersworld.com/p/what-is-adhd-are-you-a-hunter-in
