Trying to give myself a small dose of the situation, and refusing to avoid it completely. For example, if I'm in a social situation, I will try to hone in on one person for a little while and focus on a more intimate interaction. Then, I will likely leave early. That way, I showed up and I pushed my boundaries but I didn't do so in a very extreme way.

That is an excellent way to go about facing your anxiety! I am sure it is overwhelming to deal with an entire group of people at once; only one person must seem much more manageable. A really great Chinese proverb that I think relates to this is "The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones". It is sometimes more helpful to take baby steps to overcome something rather than tackling it all at once. Thank you so much for sharing!

One thing that I do when I'm trying to sort out a stressful situation or one that is making me anxious is to try to write a letter to myself like I am writing to a friend. Trying to write to yourself about the situation as if you are removed from it can be a great way to get perspective. I think we all have a tendency to try to explain away situations to ourselves and ignore them, but we don't do the same thing with our friends. Try writing a letter to yourself with the same love, care, and rationality that you would a friend. It can be difficult and doesn't always help, but can be a good strategy to calming down.

Deep breathing exercises, making a mental list of reasons things won't be extremely disastrous.

I'd suggest having a playlist of songs to listen to you whenever you're particularly anxious or having a panic attack. The playlist should have favourite songs or artists, and songs that relax and calm you. Anxiety can be a really hard thing to deal with, but I hope you find these tips helpful:-)

I often just like to write things out on forums like this and try to get advice. It just feels good to type it out and get it off my chest as such, and then even more so when people give me advice because it shows people understand and listen to me

I think that's absolutely fantastic! I know what you mean about just writing it out. It's important!

I must post something to a forum at least once or twice a day! Hahaha whether it's this one or maybe some others.

A lot of what is getting me down these days is due to my relationship. I'm quite insecure about myself and should be happy but I'm not. So I'm often posting relationship stuff. Helps to reassure me when people reply about their problems now or in the past of the similar subject and make me feel better as well as giving tips and advice so it really is quite good :P

Telling myself there their are plenty of people going through the same thoughts and symptoms right now and remembering that 99% of things we worry about wont actually happen!

@PeaceForYou That is so true! The majority of the things that we worry about never actually come to pass. It is easy to anticipate and feel anxious about a negative outcome, but it is so important to remember that most of the time everything will work out!

As crazy as it sounds, I talk I myself. I tell myself what's going on, where I am and why I shouldn't be stressed just to keep myself grounded. I also just like to have little conversations in my brain to calm myself down. It helps to drown out anything that could trigger a panic attack or something.

It doesn't sound crazy at all, I find it really helpful for myself too. You're definitely not the only one.
