Academy Central Support Thread! Go to thread for academy questions

Hope July 20th, 2022

Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well. It is common to have questions regarding your academy program journey. It can be challenging to wait for a response so to provide speedy support, we have decided to have this one central thread where all academy trainees/interns can ask questions related to their academy journey.

Here is how to get support!

Respond to this thread with your question(s) and the program you are enrolled in. Remember, more information is better than less information. Provide context where needed so you can get speedy answers.

Who can respond to the questions?

Academy mentors, graduates, and even trainees if they are sure of the answer! Feel free to support each other and provide tips!

Make sure to keep an eye on your notifications so you can check the thread for answers. You can expect an answer within 24-30 hours.

This post is brought to you by the 7 Cups Academy Team, find out more information about the programs here

@Hope

Hi everyone! I'm starting out on my Internship with the community track, and the info document says that weekly check-ins to the Weekly Progress Report thread are required. However, the title of the thread that was linked on the Community Track info document says "Student Track", so I was wondering if there's a separate thread that we should use for the Community Track, or if it's okay to post our updates in the Student Track thread anyways? Thank you!

Hey @wishfulHero585, thankyou for mentioning that, hopefully someone from the team can review and update the thread in the document!

There's a separate thread for community track though. You can access it here: https://www.7cups.com/forum/7CupsInternship_167/ProgressReports_2367/WeeklyProgressReportCommunityTrack2023_298566/

Good luck with your internship!❤

@Hope Hi again, I have one more question! Today is supposed to be the first day of my internship, and I responded to the acceptance email a couple of days ago to confirm that I wanted to continue with it. I was wondering, is there any way that I can confirm that I am indeed enrolled in the program, or is there any other email or confirmation sign that I should look out for to verify that everything is going smoothly? This is my first internship, so I'm very new to this. Thank you so much!

@wishfulHero585 Hello wishful, after replying to the acceptance email you will be enrolled in the program. Although to mark you are active in the program, we have a two week trial. Completing those requirements and filling out the form is a sign of you being a part of the internship program. You will find the requirement list in the email sent to you. All the best for your internship!

@yourbuddy30 Okay, sounds good! I just wasn't sure if I was supposed to look for any other confirmation after my initial response to the first email. Thank you so much for the clarification!

I am in the intern training and my start date is today. A lot of what's on the electives list I've already done I"m over 100 on my path, I have done all the trainings (waiting to hear back about if I passed the Listening 4 test, but I have taken it), I am a level 3 listener... Do these count even if I completed them before joining? (I have over 25 forum posts but I did see I need to complete that during training)

If so, I signed up for 12 weeks but would like to reduce it to 6 weeks as I feel I can eaasily get 2 more electives done. I don't mind needing to chat weekly but my memory is bad and I am worried about missing a check in or eval. I think 6 weeks would be better. If so who do I contact?

@Smrtbibliophile

Hi Laura, great start already yay!

You don't need to re-take the trainings, badges (for eg. sparkler/ tiny chat) etc for your electives if you've completed them before your internship. They count from before too, and you can still choose them as electives! (It's even recommended too, to pick electives that are completed already or can be achieved easily/ conveniently within your internship duration)

However yes, for the chats, and forum posts will have to be new/ will count post enrolling in the internship. The previous ones wouldn't count here!

While extensions are provided on case basis, I don't think it's allowed to change the intern track after making the choice for it in your application! (as mentioned in this post)

However you can still reach out to @Hope for it and hopefully they can make an update, since you're only just starting your internship!^^

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou

Could there be a more updated post? I will also reach out to Hope as I emailed Anusha yesterday. However I'm wondering if there's a more updated post as the one on the link you shared says the tracks are 8 to 12 weeks, while several people in my group have a 6 week track.

@Smrtbibliophile Oh yes, there was an update on similar lines here: https://www.7cups.com/forum/7CupsAcademy_208/AnnouncementsandUpdates_2197/InternshipUpdateFeb2023_299330/ and it mentions 6-24 weeks! So yay I hope you're able to switch your weeks soon to 6!

The internship update post I shared above should technically be "updated" too hehe, since it's also highlighted in the internship sub community and is included in the internship application form! Tagging @hope so this can be updated soon with complete information! 😮

@Hope

The post Sunshining linked me to says you can't change legnth once you pick a legnth and the time lengths are listed for community training for interns as 8 or 12 weeks - no 6 week option listed. There's an updated post thats more accurate so I think Sun meant the post she link needs to list that there's updated requirements and link to those

@Waterfallsofnature36 Can you try filling it now? Your trial ends today if I'm not wrong.

@Waterfallsofnature36, go ahead and try it now. I saw what you were saying about 5 days before but when I typed "2" to see how it would react now it seemed fine so hopefully it will let you submit!

Hi everyone! Hope you're all well! I had 2 questions:
1) How can I ask for an intern mentor? I did try messaging one but they never replied and I'm not sure if they're inactive or not

2) I finished my community course and was wondering when I'd get the certificate? I don't remember when I finished it though 😅

Thank you for answering :))

@Hope Hi! I went to submit my Monthly Evaluation Form (2023 New Community Internship track), and I noticed some inconsistencies between the document with the requirements that was sent out to us at the beginning of the internship, and the Monthly Evaluation Form. Some of the differences I noticed:

- The Peer Pro badge is listed as an elective on the doc, but a requirement on the form

- The Listener Level 3 Certificate elective on the doc is not listed on the form at all

- The doc lists "+10 training guides, in addition to the compulsory 10" as an elective, but the form says that 20 are required

- The Community Builder Course is a requirement on the doc, but an elective on the form

These are just a few of the things that I caught (there might be more), and I was confused about which requirements to follow...which was a bit scary for me since I'm just over halfway done with my internship, and suddenly I wasn't sure if I was doing it right, haha. 😅 Could someone please clarify for me? Thank you so much! :)

I also joined the Internship program on March 16th, but the form is divided between "before March 6th" and "after March 6th", and I can't skip the "before March 6th" portion to get to the "after" part because the questions are all marked as required. Am I misunderstanding the form directions? Is there any way I can get an extension for this form since it's due today for me, and I'm really confused about how to proceed?

Hi,
I am about to start my program on Monday (22nd May)
-How do I share my progress with the hours of listening that I do? (the 1-1 chats as well as the group chats - I want to do the 'Ting Chat' as an elective.)
-I have a special case of being away from the internet for the duration of 12 days during this period of internship. It happens that the end of my first 2 weeks (trial period) is during the days that I will be away. Is it OK to make up my hours after that? Is it OK to do the trial form after this period?
-Do I share the electives that I've chosen here?

Thanks :)

yourbuddy30 May 20th, 2023

@88Avocados Hello Avocados, I am unsure which program you are a part of but based on my understanding I think you are referring to the internship, the number of hours of listening is calculated at the end of the program.

Also you can fill out the trial form 3 days before your trial end. You can still complete the listening hours after the trial period is over and you are marked active. Although you would have to complete the trial period requirements to be marked active

Thank you. I will fill in the form before I go offline (5 days before) I hope that would work.
