Leadership on 7 Cups (+ a video from our founder)!
We view 7 Cups like a city. Theres the central city (the global community), and it is surrounded by outside neighborhoods. Each neighborhood has its own feel and its own identity (e.g. subcommunities, support rooms, quality projects, etc), and all of these neighborhoods are plugged into the citys center. We all work together to strengthen and support one another, who reside in this community.
Weve built this city together. Every single one of you has helped, either by contributing directly to daily operations or by simply being here and participating. However, our city, just like any other, relies on us to be consistent in our efforts to uphold and protect it. To maintain a healthy ecosystem, we need to cultivate strong leadership to represent 7 Cups, and to set a positive example for our citizens and those who visit.
We are very proud of each and every one of you who has stepped up to become a leader! We want to ensure you understand what being a leader here entails, what our expectations are, and that you have everything you need to develop professionally and personally through nurturing our city.
We (the community team) will be releasing a series of initiatives to strengthen our leadership process. Heres whats coming down the pipeline:
❇️ Leadership Guidelines (a fixed list of rules that all leaders agree to follow)
❇️ Leadership Course (an educational reading course introducing and exploring leadership)
❇️ Broader discussions on leadership development, personal discovery and professional growth through volunteer opportunities
As a special treat, @Glen has recorded a video covering some key points on what he thinks being a leader on 7 Cups means! I hope you learn some great tips!
@Heather225
Excellent!
@Heather225
This is wonderful. Trainings and guidelines in leadership will give a clearer understanding.
@heather @glen
Thank you for having shared this post! Just finished watching the video -- I really appreciated learning about HHA, and I am grateful to be a part of this incredible community.
Count me in. It's great seeing that effort here never stops and no one takes nothing for granted.
@Heather225
I love the video soooo much! Also, it would be sooooo cool if 7 Cups was an actual city or an actual hub or building or location in real life so we could get to meet each other out of 7 Cups but within 7 Cups. I don't know if I'm making sense right now lol. Anyways, thanks for the post Heather
@Heather225
Thank you for the post, such rich info on it... kudos to you, I appreciate the effort and time involved into making this possible!
I have always been immensely happy and proud to be able to call 7 Cups my virtual home, a place where I actually felt understood, beloved, never judged, peaceful, calm, at ease.
Then, after I committed to coming back often and started my internship here, as well as some leadership roles, I earned the title of being able to call 7 Cups my mission as well.
Now, it is time to start calling 7 Cups as my city!
@Heather225
Thank you @GlenM for making this video. We appreciate your insights and efforts! I am sure this will serve as a great resource for our current leaders and leaders to come.
@Heather225 @Glen thank you very much! It's a great reminder and very educational.
@Heather225
The video Glen gave will help me understand how to be the Leader of my team. To ask for help from others and not feel I am failing. Everyone's input is important for me to know where our team can excell.
@Heather225
I have to say, I watched the video and I'm having a bit of a moment here. I know I sound sappy, silly or being being a little too vulnerable maybe with sharing my thoughts. But who cares! Isn't this what 7 cups is all about? This is our soft spot to land and for me, well, I care. And because I care, watching that video has brought me to tears, and also given me joy. Feeling as if today our founder has reached into my heart, my mind and my soul. Watching that video, I feel heard!
Every single point made is what I try to do. I think of all of these things, always, truly, day in and day out while on this site. Now, whether I hit the mark or not....who knows....but this is truly my belief system. Leaders come in all sizes, shapes and forms, different roles, different badges. All of us have different, unique gifts to bring to the table. It's the leader within that matters. It's the drive, the process. Being of service to others.
I made a profile page, put some words there. But many times when I sign onto to 7 cups I read my profile page first. I ask myself "who you gonna' be today"? I made a commitment and words have meaning. Can I be the same person I was the day before and the day before that? Can I keep the commitment to others and to myself that I have listed on my profile page? Still trying!
