Leadership on 7 Cups (+ a video from our founder)!
We view 7 Cups like a city. Theres the central city (the global community), and it is surrounded by outside neighborhoods. Each neighborhood has its own feel and its own identity (e.g. subcommunities, support rooms, quality projects, etc), and all of these neighborhoods are plugged into the citys center. We all work together to strengthen and support one another, who reside in this community.
Weve built this city together. Every single one of you has helped, either by contributing directly to daily operations or by simply being here and participating. However, our city, just like any other, relies on us to be consistent in our efforts to uphold and protect it. To maintain a healthy ecosystem, we need to cultivate strong leadership to represent 7 Cups, and to set a positive example for our citizens and those who visit.
We are very proud of each and every one of you who has stepped up to become a leader! We want to ensure you understand what being a leader here entails, what our expectations are, and that you have everything you need to develop professionally and personally through nurturing our city.
We (the community team) will be releasing a series of initiatives to strengthen our leadership process. Heres whats coming down the pipeline:
❇️ Leadership Guidelines (a fixed list of rules that all leaders agree to follow)
❇️ Leadership Course (an educational reading course introducing and exploring leadership)
❇️ Broader discussions on leadership development, personal discovery and professional growth through volunteer opportunities
As a special treat, @Glen has recorded a video covering some key points on what he thinks being a leader on 7 Cups means! I hope you learn some great tips!
@Heather225
Thank you Heather for putting this together for us leaders. I agree-being a leader is not a status or a "me status" ever. Sometimes tbh it can feel that way. But we all have to redirect our intensions on the "serving" side for this community. We do things for our community as well to strengthen our teams and maybe some personal growth in all this.
I thought of this song as you shared 7cups was like a city
@Heather225
Thank you all so much! ♡ This warmed my heart to read and listen to— and it really helped re-spark my passion for 7C and why we
@zaatarHoney
My wonderful Honey! did I hear "Spark"? (SparkyGizmo enters.....stage left, lol) I'm glad you loved the video as much as I did. I can imagine, someone like you, it really spoke to you because you care about this place and you care about all of us, and deeply! The spark has been in you all along. Day in and day out. I for one, believe that you are the epitome of what our founder spoke of in this video. Your heart is in the right place!
I see you as someone that has badges but there is no gloat, no power play, no besting someone else and dragging them down. Instead, you truly embrace what our founder spoke of, as in my words, the inverted triangle. Many think that because they have a badge they sit at the top of the triangle. You see the triangle inverted as do I. We are at the bottom and with badges come great responsibility. It's not to speak to only those you want to in the rooms that have fancy badges and ignore the rest, it's to speak to everyone. It's to uplift and to teach and to monitor behavior. To give credit where credit is due and give others positive affirmations. What I call "catch me being good". Catch them being good! Catch someone being good, show them the way of what is going to help them be successful here on 7 cups! Catch them being good, and we can only hope that behavior is repeated.
The badges are not designed for people for step in to the room and to dominate and to belittle but to help and to teach. And to move all of us and there for 7 cups forward.
Honey, a special and heart felt thanks for you today! Thank you for being the example here on 7 cups! *hugs*
@SparkyGizmo
Did I just get blessed with a cameo from THE Yung Gizzo? You are an absolute powerful force and combined with your grace, you have always been an incredible asset to 7C! Im so grateful to know you, and be known by you. Thank you for your kind words. 🙈🥺😭🎶
7C feels like home. I think many of us grew up in homes that didnt embody the full potential of what a home could be like.. but here, people like you ensure that the magic sustains itself within our community. Thank you for contributing to what makes 7C feel like an emotional paradise. ♡
@zaatarHoney
I feel the magic just as you do here. I love your nickname for me, the Yung Gizzo. And so you saw me earlier on, as a little one,newer but trying hard. And I might always stay "little" but now using the word "little" as in how some may see me as less badged (gotta' say, I love the ps role, so much flexibility and so many different ways to help out others in that specific role). I'm glad you see my approach and that there is power in being authentic. There is value in all of us here and I'm grateful that you saw value in me.
I agree with you. Many of us come here for a soft spot to land. Troubled homes, a past, needing of care and time to develop if nice and loving homes weren't available for us. Dynamite comes in small packages. I have had so many victories here on this site. Just being me, being authentic, no big badges needed. Yet still, always the inverted triangle concept in my heart, to be of service to others.
A listener told me once in the LSR............Giz, thank you for teaching me how to be nice. Thank you for teaching me how to be kind. It wasn't sarcastic, it was so heartfelt and such a meaningful experience for me! I don't have a badge to reflect that on my "my profile" page. This is a badge I carry in my heart. And so yes, just one of my many victories here, small ones, quiet ones, but the efforts to make this an emotional paradise. One day at a time and one person at a time. Rock on Honey, rock on!

Great information!
@Heather225 Very special!
These are transformative ideas, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing how they are progressed throughout 7 Cups.

Amazing video by the founder of 7cups.
I watched it.
I loved it.
I learned that being a leader is being a servent.
A leader serve others.
A leader is not perfect.
If leaders make a mistake,they should own up to it, and grow from it.
Anyone can learn to be a leader at 7cups.
I cannot waite until the leadership course is ready.
I so want to take it.
Heather let me know when it is ready,the leadership course that is.
@Heather225
With great power comes great responsibility.
