...See more Hey everyone, I know its been a long time since the last post, but lets get on to it today! We all know that managing weight can be a tough journey, filled with ups and downs. But here's the thing: you don't have to go through it alone! I'm excited to invite each of you to share your experiences, challenges, and victories in your weight management journey. Whether it's a small win or a big struggle, sharing can transform the process from feeling like a pressure into a source of powerful motivation. ------------------------- I've been on this path myself, and I know how crucial it is to have a supportive community. That’s why I’ll be bringing you fresh insights, tips, and encouragement every Wednesday and Sunday for the next 3-4 months. Let’s walk this road together, lifting each other up along the way. ------------------------- Today’s Tip: Conquering Cravings with Healthy Swaps! Cravings can be one of the biggest hurdles in weight management, but with a few smart swaps, you can satisfy your taste buds without derailing your progress. Here’s how you can replace those common cravings: * Salty: Instead of chips, try air-popped popcorn with a sprinkle of nutritional yeast or lightly salted almonds. Another great option is cucumber slices with a dash of sea salt and vinegar. * Sweet: Ditch sugary snacks for fresh fruit, like a bowl of mixed berries or apple slices with a bit of almond butter. For a treat, try freezing grapes or making a smoothie with your favorite fruits and a scoop of protein powder. * Spicy: Craving heat? Spice up your meals with chili flakes on roasted chickpeas or hot sauce drizzled over grilled veggies and lean protein. You can also try making a spicy salsa to pair with your snacks. * Sour: For that tangy kick, add a squeeze of lemon or lime to your water, salads, or roasted veggies. Pickles or a small serving of kimchi can also satisfy sour cravings in a healthy way. * Umami: Satisfy savory cravings with a miso soup, or add a splash of soy sauce or tamari over steamed vegetables or tofu. You can also try roasted mushrooms, which have a rich umami flavor. I know it is difficult to satisfy your cravings with it, but hey! Its just a start and for a struggle of a few weeks, once its all over, you will learn to embrace and manage your cravings better than ever. YOU CAN DO IT!                                                                                             ------------------------- Let’s Stay Connected! I’d love to hear about your journey—what’s working for you, the challenges you face, and the victories you achieve. Share your story and updates in the comments and keep us updated by creating your own posts and tagging me in them on a daily basis. Together, we can create a community of support, inspiration, and growth. Let’s make this journey one of connection and empowerment! See you on Wednesday for more tips and motivation! 💪✨
@MusicCandy @SadMe70 New place to communicate

...See more @MusicCandy Hi! I decided it was easier to just start a new thread. I can't figure out the old one. I am headed to my mom's tomorrow until Sunday night. Today is the fifth anniversary of dad's death. I couldn't get up there today, so it's the first time I won't be with her on the actual day. I won't be on here this weekend, so I'm writing this on Wednesday. Yesterday I made my first trip to the mountains in a long time. I hiked to Mary's Rock. It was not crowded and was great weather. It was kind of funny hiking in a t-shirt with snow on the ground! Today we are celebrating my DIL's birthday. The actual day is Saturday but I'll be at mom's. I am going to make the Korean dessert that I made for New Year's, since their dog ate all the leftovers and she didn't get to try much of it. Then I have some cleaning to do, and some errands to run, and then pick her up 45 min away because my son is here at work near our house. I'm going early enough to drop by my other son's house first to meet his new dog. He and his fiancee are adopting a 2 year old. I need to do laundry to prepare for my trip, and need to write detailed instructions for my pet sitters. I have an old note to work from, but I have a new lady coming one day and I need to make it extra-detailed for her. She is a pet sitting company, so it will cost me, but I need another person in my rotation of feeders. So it's a busy day today! I am grateful for my spring break this week that allows me to do all these things. I spent the weekend doing very little because I knew the rest of the week would be very busy! I don't like getting home the evening before I have to go back to work, since I won't get laundry, shopping, or cooking done, but it couldn't be helped! I hope the new thread works out, and that I tagged you correctly so you will see it! I hope your week has gone well, and here's to five more years of messages to come!

7 Signs You’re Not Drinking Enough Water In Addition To Other Ways To Be Healthy
by akunknown

July 25th
...See more Dry mouth and a feeling of thirst A very typical sign of dehydration [https://www.vogue.com/article/dehydrated-what-to-do-about-it] is—obviously—experiencing the feeling of thirst. This, along with a dry mouth, is often the first sign that you need water. And, for good reason: Not only does a dry mouth signify a lack of fluids, but also that your immune system is becoming weakened. “A dry mouth can lead to the oral mucosa, an immune defense [https://www.vogue.com/article/simple-ways-to-support-your-immune-system], being weakened and you can become more prone to infections,” explains Ahlemann. “If you can’t manage to drink water when you have a dry mouth, then you should at least rinse it out with a little liquid.” Dark urine or less urine production “When we drink too little, our urine becomes concentrated and changes color,” explains Ahlemann. According to the doctor, pale yellow urine is ideal. “If your urine is dark, that’s a clear sign that you should definitely drink more. Looking at your own urine is the easiest self-test to check whether you’ve drunk enough water.” Headaches and dizziness “Headache and dizziness can be caused by reduced blood volume due to dehydration, which means that our brain is no longer well supplied with blood and nutrients,” says Ahlemann, who adds that if you often feel dizzy, you should definitely visit a doctor. Fatigue and problems concentrating Fatigue [https://www.vogue.com/article/7-stages-of-rest] and difficulty concentrating can also be due to a lack of fluids and are one of the most common signs you’re not drinking enough water. “Here, too, the reduced blood volume is to blame, which, as mentioned, means that our brain is not optimally supplied,” explains the doctor. Dry skin and lips According to Ahlemann, typical signs of dehydration include dry skin and lips [https://www.vogue.com/article/how-to-treat-chapped-lips]. You can find out whether this is the case for you with a small self-test: “Pinch the skin on the back of your hand between two fingers and pull it up. If it seems slow to return to its original state, that is a sign of dehydration.” In addition, many people experience increased itching due to dry skin. “The skin may also appear paler because the oxygen and micronutrient supply is no longer optimal,” she adds. Dark circles under the eyes According to Ahlemann, “if you don’t drink enough, the blood becomes thicker, which tends to make the vessels more visible. Sunken eyes, dark circles [https://www.vogue.com/article/best-eye-cream-for-dark-circles], and increased eye wrinkles can be a sign that you’re not drinking enough.” Constipation A typical sign that you are not drinking enough? Constipation. It’s easy to understand why this happens: If you drink too little, your intestines withdraw too much water from the stool, which in turn reduces their volume. When the intestinal tract is not full, the body doesn’t feel compelled to eliminate waste. “In medicine, we speak of constipation when we talk about solid stools due to water deprivation,” explains Ahleman. “But what many people don’t know is that drinking too little can also cause a bloated stomach [https://www.vogue.com/article/ways-to-reduce-bloating].” Source: https://www.vogue.com/article/signs-youre-not-drinking-enough-water [https://www.vogue.com/article/signs-youre-not-drinking-enough-water] The article I posted the link to above doesn’t state this but if you really wanna be healthy, drink water with electrolytes and salt. But don’t overdo it. I’d say try drinking water with electrolytes and salt at least once a day, morning would be my recommendation. You can get electrolytes powder online.  However just drinking water isn’t enough. Here’s other ways to stay healthy in addition to drinking water: Getting enough sleep every night, enough sunlight and fresh air every day, walking/jogging/running along with other forms of exercise whether it’s at the gym or at home or both, eating the right foods (not fast food which isn’t real food) that have vitamins and nutrients and will fill you up, not sitting down or lying down right after eating as that can cause heart problems especially when you’re older as you have to let the food you consumed digest so wait at least 1-4 hours which I know isn’t possible during work hours, drinking fruit shakes/smoothies which can be consumed twice a day, once during the day and again at night, are a great way to consume fruit if you don’t wanna/can’t eat them. I recommend making them at home so you know what’s used to make it as opposed to buying it from places that have them because they put too much sugar in them, being happy, hopeful, positive, etc as much as you can. Friends and other forms of relationships are good if they’re healthy and real. Self care and love is healthy as well so prioritize yourself and don’t put yourself down anytime.

...See more Here is a poem that Pi . ai and I collaborated on this morning! Yay! 🙂  It's called "Rise and Shine!" "Rise and shine, it’s time to seize the day, Take a breath, and find a better way. Your outlook is hopeful, your spirit is bright, Let go of your doubts, and step into the light. Each day brings a chance, to learn and to grow, So take the risk, and let your talents flow. Your inner strength, will move you on your way, Rise and shine, it’s time to seize the day!"

...See more I know it's been a couple weeks since I last visited this group. I've  been in a little depressed/stuck state since then. I had to remind myself just because I put exercise/life on pause  that I can always resume. I did still keep my walking routine up throughout this period. After I recently went on a trip to a lake it reminded me to not give up hope and to strive forward in life/fitness. Sometimes you just need a mood booster for motivation like nature, listening to music, drawing,or anything that you love. Remember life is like an elevator  it has it's ups and downs and has many levels(years) to go/grow through.
