7 Cups Leadership Guidelines

Last post
Sunday
...See more Thank you for being a leader on 7 Cups! Community leaders are a significant part of our community. In stepping into a leadership role with 7 Cups, you have agreed that you align with our values and wish to uphold our mission. You have the ability to inform and influence our community members. So, it is important to lead by example and be a role model to inspire others to aspire to be someone like you to extend the support to others. In addition to the community guidelines, rules, and policies [https://www.7cups.com/about/communityGuidelines.php] currently in place, we are including a list of reminders, as well as one new rule. ➡ As a community leader, you may be provided with confidential information to perform your work on a team or a project. Use this knowledge for its intended purpose only. In other words, please do not abuse your privileges. We trust you to be responsible and maintain confidentiality. ➡. Refrain from engaging in triangulation. This is a very common mistake people make without even realizing it's happening. Triangulation manifests itself in our community as one person who will not communicate directly with another person, and instead use a third person to relay communication to the second, thus forming a triangle. Triangulation is damaging because it interferes with healthy conflict-resolution and lends itself to rumor spreading by taking a private situation between two users and exposing it to more people. Read more about this and take the Triangulation Pledge. [https://www.7cups.com/forum/ListenerCommunityampSiteUpdates_38/LaurasOffice_169/WhatisTriangulation3StepstoAvoidingStoppingitfromhappeninginthecommunity_35107/1/] ➡. Community leaders must maintain strong boundaries. Being a role model, and a trustworthy and reliable leader, users may become dependent on you. To nurture healthy relationships with the community, it's imperative that you set boundaries for yourself and respect those of others. ➡. Community leaders accept feedback gracefully. Getting feedback can be hard to hear, especially if it's more of a constructive criticism than a praise. Leaders should be able to accept feedback gracefully if given constructively. We all are human and all have things to work on and grow. ➡ Please honor and follow our social media policies (i.e. no off-site contact with community members). 7 Cups is a safe environment for you to build and create connections. We love that you are building supportive relationships with each other and enjoy connecting! In order to preserve this safe space, we ask you not to solicit off-site contact. Also bear in mind, once you take interactions off 7 Cups, we are unable to assist you in the event something happens outside of our site. ➡ Reporting is our responsibility. You are the eyes of our community. We have several ways to report incidents that cover all areas of the site, and we rely on you to direct users to those channels. We also rely on you to use them as well. As the slogan goes: if you see something, say something. ➡ We respect your right to use whatever sites you'd like. However, since we launched, we have discovered that some of our leaders have also been working with non-crisis sites that are similar to 7 Cups. We are all for competition, but we want the intention behind it to be solving broader emotional health challenges. We don't want the competition to be a negative interaction between companies. To protect our community and its ongoing progress, we ask that if you would like to pursue leadership with us that you do not affiliate yourself in leadership positions with non-crisis sites similar to 7 Cups. (When I say similar sites, I am referring to any site that offers the same services as us. This would not include therapists, AA, NAMI, and assistance programs that share our broad goal to provide support in the healthcare industry but are not set up to operate like we do. They all offer different components that work in tandem with us.) Leaders: please reply below if you have read and understood these rules! If you have any questions, you may PM anyone on the community team (@Hope, @ASilentObserver, myself).

...See more Hi everyone! I hope you are well. As you know lately we have been making efforts to familiarise our users with our sub-communities. We had some success with sub-community workshops [https://www.7cups.com/forum/CommunityProjectsEvents_184/SubcommunityWorkshops_2163/SignuptoleadSubcommunityworkshops_231973/] but we also want to do the training on a larger scale. It does not take a lot to understand the basics of sub-communities. By the end of doing the activities/steps in this post, you should be ready to explore sub-communities on your own. Anyone who completes all of the following steps and lets us know in this thread will get the explorer badge. Step 1: Watch this video [https://youtu.be/FZPoqwyikXg] Step 2: Complete this Quiz [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScZX9mReUYVombXPAliiv7_NI0aHDw33JGcVVP7av74WZzoyw/viewform] Step 3: Post here and let us know that you did step 1 and 2 and what you learned/liked about the video/quiz. Thank you to @Tazzie for creating the video and the quiz. Once you have received the explorer badge, you become eligible to take part in the Building Community Program. Needs Reply Communication Thread (updated)

...See more Hi team, as you hopefully know, we usually communicate via the needs reply communication thread here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/7CupsLeadership_188/TheNeedsReplyTeamProject_781/needsreplyteamcommunicationthread_227761/], but we have decided to create a new communication thread to keep updated, to keep everything in one place and to also remind everyone of expectations of the team. This also allows new members of the team to refer to this original post for the information needed. Bi-weekly check ins are going to be posted in this thread from now on. When these are posted, please do respond as these are posted to make sure that you are okay, and that you're still active. This will also be a reminder to fill out the tracking form (click here) [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1ZkxLDwFrEY4RRDDp0cm4_GHpdgkKjpckEFMXyDvxwmE/edit] so that we can ensure activity from team members and to keep track of the Needs Reply teams progress! There is more information about the form here. [https://www.7cups.com/forum/7CupsLeadership_188/TheNeedsReplyTeamProject_781/NeedsReplyTrackingForm_254884/] The monthly quota for those on the NR team is 10 responses to needs reply posts (not forum posts in general) - if you are unclear of what this means then please refer to the needs reply queue here [https://www.7cups.com/home/#needsreply] or you can ask me. As many of you have hopefully seen, changes are being made to the offboarding process which Cheery has made a post about here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/HelpWanted_188/TheNeedsReplyTeamProject_781/NeedsReplyTeamOffboardingPolicy_298409/]- please do make sure to look at this as this is the process we will be following from now on. If you have any questions about it please do write them on the post, message @CheeryMango or myself. It is important to make sure that members of the team respond effectively to the posts. It is important that all members of the team read this post [https://www.7cups.com/forum/7CupsLeadership_188/TheNeedsReplyTeamProject_781/EffectiveReplying_286362/] on effective responding. If you are new to the team please do read and respond, and if you are not new to the team feel free to refresh back whenever you feel you need a refresher on effective responding or to look at it if you haven't yet - thank you! Effective Replying

...See more Hi everyone! Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who listens to what people have to say in the forums and takes the time to thoughtfully respond and support people ❤️ An important aspect of responding to posts is that the responses are effective in the hope that people feel supported and heard. As members of the Needs Reply team know, we have had some feedback that not all responses are detailed or effective in this sense. It is important to ensure that we provide people with a supportive and engaged response so please continue to read this post to get tips on how to make sure our responses can be the best they can! Once you have read the post please comment “read and understood” so we know and also feel free to add any extra tips for other people to benefit from - we are a community and can all help each other <3 (some tips have been slightly edited for clarity) Ask for help, practice and learn: “Check other posts from the same sub-forum and see how they are tended to and supported since it can give us ideas and information on possibly good conversations and replies” - theriverissinging “For threads that are seeking answers for some community related questions or needing a more authoritative reply to something specific and you're not sure on those. Feel free to tag the concerned leaders (if you do know accurately) or simply the 7 cups community account @7CupsCommunity or direct them to community@7cups.com or raise tickets as required, https://help.7cups.com/ [https://help.7cups.com/]” - sunisshiningandsoareyou “I haven't personally reached out to one yet, but we can maybe reach out to the relevant sub community's community mentor(s), forum supporters too, if needed some help with replying to the threads in that sub community. Or maybe use our Training Guides/ Self help guides for members [https://www.7cups.com/listener/training.php#training], they can be quite helpful too.” - sunisshiningandsoareyou “Whenever I have spare time, I go over to the LLJ forum, read some informative posts again to refresh.” - anon “respond to posts that you are familiar with the topic and can sympathetically, empathetically and kindly respond so that your post has meaning and validates the post you are replying to” - MistyMagic Take care of yourself: “I don't consider the member chats in PMs and the forum posts seeking support too different to be honest, so it is always a good idea to reply when you have enough physical and emotional availability to support them.” - sunisshiningandsoareyou” “You are a part of one of the most amazing projects in 7 cups. It is noble of you to try to make as many people feel acknowledged, heard, accepted, seen, validated, supported and encouraged. It's okay to learn as you grow in the role, and practice better replies, one forum post at a time hehe. You don't have to be perfect or reply to everyone, reply as per your pace, when possible and when you think you'll be able to offer better support, everyone's "perfect reply" would be slightly different from each other for sure. You just have to try to meet people where they are, and never get too engrossed in forming a great reply alone, instead focus on a reply that matters, words that will make a difference.” - sunisshiningandsoareyou “Care for your awesome self, we have only one you. If ever some forum post is too triggering (considering the fact, it meets the forum guidelines), if you're a listener, I believe it should be okay to seek peer support or reach out to a quality mentor. Of course, super okay to hop on to the member account to seek a listener for yourself anytime some words hit too home. Or simply to step away from these and engage in self care, as necessary.” - sunisshiningandsoareyou Skills and other useful tips: “We can use the active listening basic skills always, to comprehend what they said and maybe summarise a little using your own words, validate their emotions, empathise with them and offer supportive words. Forums are a great way to build supportive relationships too, never hesitate to ask open-ended questions to them to know more about how they are feeling, what have they tried, how else could you support them etc.” - sunisshiningandsoareyou “I do understand a certain hesitation with some rather long forum threads, and understandably it gets hard to use all the active listening skills at once, soooo what I usually try is to understand what they are really seeking support for, summarise as much possible and then pick a few major pointers for more reflection, validation, conversation-build up etc.” - sunisshiningandsoareyou “It simply helps to read and comprehend what someone is mentioning, what do they need out of this post, and how could you make them feel less alone, and more supported at any given point in time. Your effort alone matters. ❤” - sunisshiningandsoareyou “I usually go with these formulas: If it's information share: Read + share about what I find interesting/ helpful + thank you If it's activity I'm interested in: Read + participate + thank you If it's problem/ issue shared: Read (and read again for me since my mind jump around pretty quick xD) + validate + reflect + end with share tips (not advice) if it's something I'm familiar with/ share 7cups resources if I remember any/ open ended question if it's something I'm not familiar with.” - anon “For rather fun and light-hearted forum threads, I try to tag some people from the community, as it helps in building the engagement in their thread. Always a great idea to have more people join the fun time, right lol? :P” - sunisshiningandsoareyou “It is always okay to skip replying to threads you're absolutely not sure what to say, I feel this is similar to how a listener can politely let members know in personal chats if there's a topic they don't take or feel comfortable with and can browse for another listener who might be able to support better. Skipping posts that you've tried to form a reply for and aren't sure if it is supportive, or fulfilling enough to what the member is seeking, is always better than "Thank you for sharing." sort of replies alone, I feel.” - sunisshiningandsoareyou “First I reflect/summarize, then I offer empathy, then I provide hope through resources or an alternate point of view.” - WarmLightXO If they respond back to your reply, make sure to reply back to them because otherwise it could be harmful to the person - MistyMagic (it can also create the impression that a reply is being made simply to get the post out of the queue which is not fair to the person being responded to - Book) Subcommunity team: @CheeryMango @Heather225 @Mel @MistyMagic @tami150 @theriverissinging @SkylarListens @bookworm274 Needs Reply team: @Asher @anxietywarrior23 @bookworm274 @CosmicMiracle @EmmaE @hopedreamlove @joyfulunicorn @Juliak1968 @MidwesternCalmSeeker @ouiCherie @Optimisticempath @pamharley003 @SynSavory @Sunisshiningandsoareyou @SoftFaith2004 @SirenofSerenity @theriverissinging

Needs Reply Team: Offboarding Policy
by CheeryMango
Last post
February 16th, 2023
...See more Official Offboarding Policy for Needs Reply Team This policy is created to address consistency, communication, and activity for all members of the Needs Reply Team. As a member of the Needs Reply Team, you are responsible for ensuring that your quota (10 posts per month from the Needs Reply queue) is maintained as an active and present member of the team. Lately, we have seen a decline in response to our check-in forms, PMs, and posts. We understand that each of you have busy lives, but we want to ensure that we have a team actively replying to posts to help manage the needs of our community members that take the time to make posts and want an opportunity to be heard and supported. Here is our the policy will work and what is expected of you as an active Needs Reply Member: * Ensure that you fill out the NR tracking form within 7 days of the initial post-day. Please also respond to check-ins. So, for example for the check-in post was created on January 1st, you have will have from January 1st to January 8th to respond. * If you are not meeting point A due to activity or absence after 2 weeks, the Needs Reply team leader (@bookworm274) or Admin (@CheeryMango) will reach out to you to find out what’s going on and how we can best support you during this time. If no response is received from either reach outs within a month, we will take it that you are non-responsive and MAY result in the removal of the team. * If after 1 month, we do not hear back from you and you haven’t made any progress towards your monthly quota or responded to the team check-ins, we will get you set up for a self-care break or put you on a probationary period that will give you time to be more active on the team. This is to ensure that things are still able to occur in the community as effectively as possible. * If after 1 month and a half, we do not hear back from you, especially about a break or needing time off to focus on other things, we will REMOVE you from the team. taglist (last updated January 24, 2023 by @CheeryMango): @Asher @anxietywarrior23 @bookworm274 @CosmicMiracle @Juliak1968 @KimByeongin @LlamaLizz @Markzzmq @MidwesternCalmSeeker @Optimisticempath @pamharley003 @SynSavory @Sunisshiningandsoareyou @CheeryMango ------------------------- Updated by @CheeryMango 3/14/2023 to include updated information on removal from team + probationary period for missed forms.
Leader threads on Needs Reply
by AffyAvo
Last post

...See more Hey, some threads are on the needs reply list that shouldn't really need to be dealt with by the team. In general if people don't want replies it's best if they make 1 reply to their own thread. It can be no replies please or even just . If it's temporary those posts can be deleted when the time is right. @Hope can you make academy leaders aware of this? @SoulfullyAButterfly There's quite a few articles in the list, yesterday I would guess maybe 75%. The team used to reply to each other's posts. Can this be implemented again? Especially with them all being in one community the Needs Reply sorting can be used by the team just for that specific community. Thanks!
Effective replying: A reminder to all!

...See more Hey everyone! Hope you’re having a good day! There is one thing we all can agree on and that's the fact that we want our community members to feel safe, supported and heard! I’m so thankful for all you do to make this happen🍃❤️ tho we have noticed that some replies on forums do not provide this… there are a few things that are crucial for us to remember while replying! So please read this reminder 'till the end and reply by “read and understood” to let us know you did❤️ Where to find the threads needing a reply? You can find all threads that have not got a response yet here, in the needs reply queue or by filtering forums in each subcomm by choosing needs reply from sort by drop down How to reply effectively? While Responding effectively to a post, You want to validate the person to make them feel understood, be empathetic and understanding and allow them to feel supported. An effective reply would show that you took the time to read it by reflecting what they said in their post rather than using a blanket phrase that doesn’t mention what they are actually talking about! What does my reply have to contain? Reflection, Validation, empathy and compassion! !!! You do not need to be a peer or specialize in a topic to reply effectively, active listening and being there is enough, and usually all the user asks for❤️ !!! If there is a specific question being asked in the thread it’s important to answer it, even if it’s by: “ i’m not sure i’ll tag @leader who might be able to better answer this” or if it is a question that would require advice to answet then you can answer by “you are the only one who can answer that question certianly as you know your life and situation better than anyone else but i’m here for you while discovering the answer” When to step back and let community peers/ leaders/ etc be the one to reply? Although it is great that you want the poster to get a response, if the post is something that you aren’t sure on how to reply effectively too, it’s triggering/ uncomfortable for you, or if they ask a specific question you feel unable to answer even in the ways mentioned above then it may be best to take a step back and let someone with more experience such as a community peer or leader be the one to answer it. They will still receive a reply even if not as soon❤️ The shorter the needs reply queue gets the less people go unseen, they get heard and supported, but if we think we are not able to truly support the member at that moment it’s better to let it stay in the queue, responding and getting a post out of needs reply section makes it more unlikely/ limits the chances of getting another response which could actually answer the question🍃🍃🍃 ❤️Thank you so much for all you do for 7cups and our forums! Stay awesome!❤️ Feel free to reply here or reachout to me (@listeningsarinn) or (@bookworm274) in pms if you need help or want to discuss/ ask anything regarding needs reply or forums as a whole! needs reply team: @bouncyvoice4149 @Dajia215 @faithlove1111 @GlitteringNights @ouicherie @GentleFlameofCaring @specialsnow9454 @violetvenom @Juliak1968 @lovingbanana @MonicaQu @mxmes @pamharley003 @Sealiously @Shanna @StanDaMan78 @CompassionateDreamer8522 @SynSavory @BookChunky @FinleyTews @Anotherfrenchtoastclub @hopedreamlove @tortuedesbois @MidwesternCalmSeeker @ginevra962 @Asherwolfice @CompassionateDreamer8522 Forum supporters: @emmaishereforyou88 @fairyava @kdsyahirah @MyNameIsNicole @BrightHeart116 @shiningSky3745 @Sydney113 @GlitteringNights @Shimmersofhope @mxmes @lovelyParadise7651 @hopedreamlove @Azalea98 @Jenn7Cups @KatieTheBigRockOne @SnailPurple @kdsyahirah @HannahChu777 @softMusic9759 @smilingsnapples @LinearWaves @talkswithhariba @bookworm274 @Shaunnxx1 @blitheEmbrace27 @Fristo @MoonlightHelper1 @frostyIris5554 @starryskies108 @Ines1229 @anotherfrenchtoastclub @donalddraper @DearDaphne @CheeryMango @RebekahRoyal @CompassionateDreamer8522 @VerseArt @azuladragon34 @competentParadise6344 @PeaceLoveandPaws @musicalHarmony @WeedyGarden @Starmedia @Celaeno @Goldcherry2113 @Kindstar45 @bestVase7265 @gigantCloud92 @faithlove1111 @LuLuRings @BookChunky @gigantCloud92 @Mankka @gentleSun78 @TaranWanderer @WelcomeToChat @lumieremilkyway @MidwesternCalmSeeker @amiablePeace77 @hillsideblues Forum mods @lovelyWhisper66 @LoveMyRotty @BlindGrapefruit @CaringBrit @LoveMyRotty @WeedyGarden @CheeryMango @tranquilbear14 @SummerBreeze00 @ASilentObserver @CaringBrit @Ines1229 @LuLuRings @MistyMagic @tranquilbear14 @Jenn7Cups @bookworm274 @tami150 @enchantedlove @optimisticMagic0014 @talkswithariba @SnailPurple @SuryanshSingh @bookworm274 @DayDreamWithYou @hopedreamlove @Listeningsarinn @AffyAvo @Fireskye13 @KatLis123 @NoneTheWiser
Needs Reply Tracking Form (outdated)
by bookworm274
Last post
July 27th, 2021
...See more Hello everyone! With more and more people joining our team (which is super awesome) and there still being some confusions over when to hand in the form etc @ListeningSarinn and I thought that we would create a post that outlines it all so you always have this post to reference rather than trying to find my previous post in the comunication thread! So, here is the information post on the tracking form and we will update it if more questions are asked so feel free to ask questions When do I have to fill out the form? The form is to be filled out bi-weekly (twice a month) which is when we post the check-ins in this thread which remind you to fill it out. We do this so that we have one form for the first half of the month and one form for the second half of the month. If you respond to 0 posts then you can still send in a form to tell us that or you don't have to fill out the form. However, if we receive 2 unanswered forms then we will send you a message just to make sure everything is okay and that you're still active! How do I keep track of my replies? 1 - Keep some sort of tally somewhere (maybe in the 7Cups note feature) so you know how many you have done 2- Although we prefer to receive the number of NR posts, if you are really struggling with keeping track or just forgot for that month etc, you can provide us with the number of total forum posts you have made (which you can find on your profile page) as we are aware that it's not always easy keeping track 3 - Fill out the form more so that you don't need to keep track of larger numbers (and just do what I outlined above about sending the form in more than once) Feel free to ask any questions and we will be happy to answer them!
