7 Cups Leadership Guidelines

...See more Thank you for being a leader on 7 Cups! Community leaders are a significant part of our community. In stepping into a leadership role with 7 Cups, you have agreed that you align with our values and wish to uphold our mission. You have the ability to inform and influence our community members. So, it is important to lead by example and be a role model to inspire others to aspire to be someone like you to extend the support to others. In addition to the community guidelines, rules, and policies [https://www.7cups.com/about/communityGuidelines.php] currently in place, we are including a list of reminders, as well as one new rule. ➡ As a community leader, you may be provided with confidential information to perform your work on a team or a project. Use this knowledge for its intended purpose only. In other words, please do not abuse your privileges. We trust you to be responsible and maintain confidentiality. ➡. Refrain from engaging in triangulation. This is a very common mistake people make without even realizing it's happening. Triangulation manifests itself in our community as one person who will not communicate directly with another person, and instead use a third person to relay communication to the second, thus forming a triangle. Triangulation is damaging because it interferes with healthy conflict-resolution and lends itself to rumor spreading by taking a private situation between two users and exposing it to more people. Read more about this and take the Triangulation Pledge. [https://www.7cups.com/forum/ListenerCommunityampSiteUpdates_38/LaurasOffice_169/WhatisTriangulation3StepstoAvoidingStoppingitfromhappeninginthecommunity_35107/1/] ➡. Community leaders must maintain strong boundaries. Being a role model, and a trustworthy and reliable leader, users may become dependent on you. To nurture healthy relationships with the community, it's imperative that you set boundaries for yourself and respect those of others. ➡. Community leaders accept feedback gracefully. Getting feedback can be hard to hear, especially if it's more of a constructive criticism than a praise. Leaders should be able to accept feedback gracefully if given constructively. We all are human and all have things to work on and grow. ➡ Please honor and follow our social media policies (i.e. no off-site contact with community members). 7 Cups is a safe environment for you to build and create connections. We love that you are building supportive relationships with each other and enjoy connecting! In order to preserve this safe space, we ask you not to solicit off-site contact. Also bear in mind, once you take interactions off 7 Cups, we are unable to assist you in the event something happens outside of our site. ➡ Reporting is our responsibility. You are the eyes of our community. We have several ways to report incidents that cover all areas of the site, and we rely on you to direct users to those channels. We also rely on you to use them as well. As the slogan goes: if you see something, say something. ➡ We respect your right to use whatever sites you'd like. However, since we launched, we have discovered that some of our leaders have also been working with non-crisis sites that are similar to 7 Cups. We are all for competition, but we want the intention behind it to be solving broader emotional health challenges. We don't want the competition to be a negative interaction between companies. To protect our community and its ongoing progress, we ask that if you would like to pursue leadership with us that you do not affiliate yourself in leadership positions with non-crisis sites similar to 7 Cups. (When I say similar sites, I am referring to any site that offers the same services as us. This would not include therapists, AA, NAMI, and assistance programs that share our broad goal to provide support in the healthcare industry but are not set up to operate like we do. They all offer different components that work in tandem with us.) Leaders: please reply below if you have read and understood these rules! If you have any questions, you may PM anyone on the community team (@Hope, @ASilentObserver, myself).

...See more Hi everyone! I hope you are well. As you know lately we have been making efforts to familiarise our users with our sub-communities. We had some success with sub-community workshops [https://www.7cups.com/forum/CommunityProjectsEvents_184/SubcommunityWorkshops_2163/SignuptoleadSubcommunityworkshops_231973/] but we also want to do the training on a larger scale. It does not take a lot to understand the basics of sub-communities. By the end of doing the activities/steps in this post, you should be ready to explore sub-communities on your own. Anyone who completes all of the following steps and lets us know in this thread will get the explorer badge. Step 1: Watch this video [https://youtu.be/FZPoqwyikXg] Step 2: Complete this Quiz [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScZX9mReUYVombXPAliiv7_NI0aHDw33JGcVVP7av74WZzoyw/viewform] Step 3: Post here and let us know that you did step 1 and 2 and what you learned/liked about the video/quiz. Thank you to @Tazzie for creating the video and the quiz. Once you have received the explorer badge, you become eligible to take part in the Building Community Program. Here are the recipients of the Persistence Badge for the month of November. @NoneTheWiser: Role: Forum Supporter for the Trauma Support Community: Reason for nomination: They have been supporting the trauma support community for a while now, providing resources, checkins, thoughtful and supportive replies, and whatnot. Most importantly they are here as a member and still trying to look out for others, and be such a phenomenal leader, they truly persist both on and off cups, in struggles and challenges, and are the force of strength they are. Persistence Badge

...See more Hello everyone! I hope this post finds you well. Back in September, we announced the Persistence [https://www.7cups.com/forum/7CupsLeadership_188/SubcommunitiesInformation_2314/InMemoryofTazziePersistenceBadge_286563/] badge in honor of Tazzie and the tremendous work she has given to our subcommunities during her time here on the site. The subcommunities are a vital part of our community and are used as a means of support for all of you whenever you need it. It is a place where everyone can connect with others for friendships to be made, share the story of their journey, engage in activities through games and events, and more. And within those subcommunities, are leaders who have so generously and selflessly offered their time and efforts to keep these communities up and running. As a way of showing our appreciation to those leaders, we are officially launching the Subcommunity Leadership Appreciation Project. Beginning this month, members and listeners can nominate subcommunity leaders for the Persistence badge. Persistence is one of the most important qualities a leader can possess. It’s what allows them to keep going when things are tough, to keep pushing forward even when they’re met with resistance. Persistent leaders never give up, and that’s what ultimately leads to their success. I believe that persistence is an essential quality for any leader. Those who are able to maintain their focus and determination in the face of adversity are the ones who ultimately achieve their goals. I admire leaders who are able to stay the course even when things are tough, and I believe that this quality is one of the key ingredients to success. To start this project, I would like to highlight @Sunisshiningandsoareyou. I have had the pleasure of working alongside Sun in numerous subcommunity-related projects like the Needs Reply Team, Subcommunity Leadership, and Forum Moderation. Sun holds various roles in the subcommunity domain from Subcommunity Project Agent to Global Community Mentor. Many of you may see Sun in the community forums actively responding and supporting members and fellow listeners with their kindness and warmheartedness. There isn’t one post in the community where you won’t see Sun’s positivity on it! Sun, I can’t think of anyone better than you to award the first Persistence badge for your outstanding work and contribution to our subcommunities. Thank you for everything that you do! Please join me in congratulating Sun on this accomplishment! ------------------------- Information on how to nominate someone for the Persistence badge: Who can be nominated? ...See more This September marks the one-year anniversary of our dear Tazzie’s passing [https://www.7cups.com/forum/SiteUpdates_100/GlensNookCommunity_547/RememberingTazzie_259740/1/]. Taz’s work in the Subcommunity domain was groundbreaking and much of what the domain is today is a result of her passionate dedication. I’m excited to announce that we’re creating a badge in her honor. It will be called Persistence: for demonstrating outstanding levels of persistence to push through barriers This badge will be awarded to subcommunity leaders across roles to encourage and recognize their amazing work, similar to the Tulip (1:1 listening) and musicalmagic (listener chatrooms) badges. Stay tuned for the official release and nomination form rollout.
