Cast your vote ! Saving messages in chats & rooms!
Hello Community,
I am here to ask for your feedback on an important topic: messages saved in every 1-1 chat. Many of you have long asked for more saved messages in your conversations and up till now, we have saved only the previous 10 messages in every conversation. This was for anonymity and storage reasons.
However, we are moving over to a new tool that will allow us to store and retrieve messages much more efficiently. As it can be frustrating to lose messages, this tool will allow us to do that. Hooray! Instead of saving messages by count, we will be able to save them by time.
Note: You would still be able to clear the chat log at any time.
This would also allow us the ability to increase the amount of time group support messages are saved.
So here is what we need to know from you! How long would you like to see your messages in a chat or group support to save for before they are automatically deleted?

why am i being forced to choose how long i want them to be saved if i say i don't in the vote?
we don't have a choice in this, do we ._.'
this is completely at odds with the purpose of the site and overall i am extremely concerned with the direction we're moving in.
[edit: i would say "at least leave it up to the member" if i didn't think even that would have terrible consequences]
like let me clarify here.
i do not even think that storing things like this and giving the member a giant button to clear their log is a good idea.
i already see this from your perspective, but see it from mine.
you made me choose between 1-6 months for storage. months.
if 10 messages doesn't get you a picture of what was going on, 50 probably won't, either.
i would literally not trust this site for casual conversations with other listeners anymore, much less as a member.
instead please just put in a notes system w/ prebuilt tags (toggle buttons) that
a) lets listeners tag members for personal use only with things (like anxiety -> breakup -> boy there wow you know enough to jump back in)
b) eventually lets members tag themselves (optionally) for listeners to better understand their situation (depression -> home life, stress -> work oh wow look we can actually match people properly now).
please please please do not compromise what this site stands for to turn it into some generic social media outlet.
and again, there are so many other things that require our attention.
locked moderation took community manager time that we need to be spending on things we need to help keep this place safe & supportive & grow communities.

Save the chats. They are actually required when sm old pal msg u again after 5-6 mnths nd u have like no idea who he/she is. There is a lot discussed during conversation. Its all drained away nd its not right. Plus whats bad abt keeping them saved???

a fav hobby...in my life i look for bread crumbs on the road like hansel and gretel.i keep picking up a alphabet and think about it then i get another clue somewhere cleaning the kids closet ok another thought ...i look upon God too in old testament .they get signs in the olden days from God ...why not we also start the day like that....

Yes , My vote is yes. But could it be a possibility that saving messages would depend on members plus it would depend on what kind of chat we are doing or what message should be stored? Something like that. Like what about if we get a button beside our message that says would you like to save this message or not. Also its just what I think I seriously have no idea about if its possible
Yes. If it means we could go back and remember what the conversation was and whats already been said and didnt have to start over.

wait, i know about messages getting saved in the 1 on 1 chats. but whats with the saving messages in group chat? only particular messages are going to be saved?
this is quite irrelevant but I just wanted to put this in here in case the admins see it.
