7 Cups Leadership Guidelines
by Heather225
Last post

...See more Thank you for being a leader on 7 Cups! Community leaders are a significant part of our community. In stepping into a leadership role with 7 Cups, you have agreed that you align with our values and wish to uphold our mission. You have the ability to inform and influence our community members. So, it is important to lead by example and be a role model to inspire others to aspire to be someone like you to extend the support to others. In addition to the community guidelines, rules, and policies [https://www.7cups.com/about/communityGuidelines.php] currently in place, we are including a list of reminders, as well as one new rule. ➡ As a community leader, you may be provided with confidential information to perform your work on a team or a project. Use this knowledge for its intended purpose only. In other words, please do not abuse your privileges. We trust you to be responsible and maintain confidentiality. ➡. Refrain from engaging in triangulation. This is a very common mistake people make without even realizing it's happening. Triangulation manifests itself in our community as one person who will not communicate directly with another person, and instead use a third person to relay communication to the second, thus forming a triangle. Triangulation is damaging because it interferes with healthy conflict-resolution and lends itself to rumor spreading by taking a private situation between two users and exposing it to more people. Read more about this and take the Triangulation Pledge. [https://www.7cups.com/forum/ListenerCommunityampSiteUpdates_38/LaurasOffice_169/WhatisTriangulation3StepstoAvoidingStoppingitfromhappeninginthecommunity_35107/1/] ➡. Community leaders must maintain strong boundaries. Being a role model, and a trustworthy and reliable leader, users may become dependent on you. To nurture healthy relationships with the community, it's imperative that you set boundaries for yourself and respect those of others. ➡. Community leaders accept feedback gracefully. Getting feedback can be hard to hear, especially if it's more of a constructive criticism than a praise. Leaders should be able to accept feedback gracefully if given constructively. We all are human and all have things to work on and grow. ➡ Please honor and follow our social media policies (i.e. no off-site contact with community members). 7 Cups is a safe environment for you to build and create connections. We love that you are building supportive relationships with each other and enjoy connecting! In order to preserve this safe space, we ask you not to solicit off-site contact. Also bear in mind, once you take interactions off 7 Cups, we are unable to assist you in the event something happens outside of our site. ➡ Reporting is our responsibility. You are the eyes of our community. We have several ways to report incidents that cover all areas of the site, and we rely on you to direct users to those channels. We also rely on you to use them as well. As the slogan goes: if you see something, say something. ➡ We respect your right to use whatever sites you'd like. However, since we launched, we have discovered that some of our leaders have also been working with non-crisis sites that are similar to 7 Cups. We are all for competition, but we want the intention behind it to be solving broader emotional health challenges. We don't want the competition to be a negative interaction between companies. To protect our community and its ongoing progress, we ask that if you would like to pursue leadership with us that you do not affiliate yourself in leadership positions with non-crisis sites similar to 7 Cups. (When I say similar sites, I am referring to any site that offers the same services as us. This would not include therapists, AA, NAMI, and assistance programs that share our broad goal to provide support in the healthcare industry but are not set up to operate like we do. They all offer different components that work in tandem with us.) Leaders: please reply below if you have read and understood these rules! If you have any questions, you may PM anyone on the community team (@Hope, @ASilentObserver, myself).

...See more Hi everyone! I hope you are well. As you know lately we have been making efforts to familiarise our users with our sub-communities. We had some success with sub-community workshops [https://www.7cups.com/forum/CommunityProjectsEvents_184/SubcommunityWorkshops_2163/SignuptoleadSubcommunityworkshops_231973/] but we also want to do the training on a larger scale. It does not take a lot to understand the basics of sub-communities. By the end of doing the activities/steps in this post, you should be ready to explore sub-communities on your own. Anyone who completes all of the following steps and lets us know in this thread will get the explorer badge. Step 1: Watch this video [https://youtu.be/FZPoqwyikXg] Step 2: Complete this Quiz [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScZX9mReUYVombXPAliiv7_NI0aHDw33JGcVVP7av74WZzoyw/viewform] Step 3: Post here and let us know that you did step 1 and 2 and what you learned/liked about the video/quiz. Thank you to @Tazzie for creating the video and the quiz. Once you have received the explorer badge, you become eligible to take part in the Building Community Program. Forum Threads Ordering
by AffyAvo
Last post
January 12th
...See more *Note I am basing this on the website, I do not use an app so can not confirm this is how the app works as well. This post explains how threads are listed by My Communities, Popular, Recent, Needs Reply, Last Active, Highlights and Top as well as how to filter by topic. These are grouped in 2 different ways, Community Page and A Specific Community. Community Page - https://www.7cups.com/community/ [https://www.7cups.com/community/] Posts on this page apply to all of the forums you have access to. My Communities If subscribed to a community, this only shows threads to subscribed communities. If you haven't subscribed to any communities this option doesn't appear. This puts threads with the newest replies at the top.  Original posts are not included for this list, so all threads in this list will have at minimum an original post and one other post. The times on this post also reflect the most recent reply, so the times all appear in the order from the shortest to longest time since a post was made. Threads that were made a long time ago will not appear here, even if there is a recent post to the thread. Popular This puts threads with the newest replies at the top. Original posts are not included for this list, so all threads in this list will have at minimum an original post and one other post. A certain amount of engagement within a thread is needed for it to appear here. The times on this post also reflect the most recent reply, so the times all appear in the order from the shortest to longest time since a post was made. Recent This puts the most recently created threads at the top. It does not matter if they have a reply or not. So the order here is the by the original posts. The times mentioned in this list are when the most recent post was made, whether it was the original post or a reply. So while the order of these threads is newest thread to oldest, the times posted are not in numerical order. For example a thread could have been made 4 hours ago and it will appear between any threads made less than 4 hours ago and more than 4 hours ago. There may have been a reply to this thread 3 minutes ago and the time will state 3 minutes ago. Needs Reply These are threads that have not yet had a reply. They only have the original post. They appear in order of oldest thread to newest thread. This is so that those that have been waiting the longest without a reply will hopefully get a reply soon. The time shows when the original post was made, and will be in order from the longest time to the most resent time since the thread was made. A Specific Community  As an example, General Support - https://www.7cups.com/forum/generalsupport/ [https://www.7cups.com/forum/generalsupport/] The below apply to the threads within a community. 3 of the most recently pinned posts for a community always appear at the top of any of the below sorting options. These are not included in the below descriptions, with the exception of highlights. Last Active This puts threads with the newest replies at the top. Original posts are not included for this list, so all threads in this list will have at minimum an original post and one other post. The times on this post also reflect the most recent reply, so the times all appear in the order from the shortest to longest time since a post was made. Highlights Highlights are threads that a community leader has pinned.  Of these post, they appear in the order of most recent posts, similar to last active. Recent Same as for the community page, this puts the most recently created threads at the top. It does not matter if they have a reply or not. So the order here is the by the original posts. The times posted in this list are when the most recent post was made, whether it was the original post or a reply. Needs Reply Same as for the community page, these are threads that have not yet had a reply. They only have the original post. They appear in order of oldest thread to newest thread. This is so that those that have been waiting the longest without a reply will hopefully get a reply soon. The time shows when the original post was made, and will be in order from the longest time to the most resent time since the thread was made. Top Top is based on upvotes. Those with the most upvotes appear at the top. The time is the most recent post made to the thread. Filter by Topic Topics are groups of threads within a specific community. Previously we used terms like subforums, sections or categories. An example of a topic within the General Support Community is Classifieds - https://www.7cups.com/forum/generalsupport/Classifieds_360/  To select a topic, click the filter icon to the right of the forum sorting drop down box. This will bring up the list of topics, selecting one of these results in the 3 pinned threads appearing (similar to other sorting options), followed by threads only within that topic. Once a topic is selected, you may sort within the topic using the dropdown menu as before. To view a different topic, click from the list of topics that now appears on the right (computer) or click the filter icon again to make a selection (mobile browser). To remove the topic filter, click the x beside the topic you selected. All communities default new threads to a general area within the community. This is not a topic, so unless the original poster selected a topic or a thread was later moved to a topic, it will not appear within a topic. Each thread can only have one topic, although it may be removed from one topic to another by someone with editing capabilities. Even if someone has selected to view by a topic, a new thread defaults to the specific community one was viewing and the general area, a topic must be chosen (underneath the title text box) when making the thread to have this option be applied. Editing Editing does not alter any of the above. So if a thread had a post that was made to it a few minutes ago and that reply is moderated 30 seconds ago, it will still appear as the most recent post a few minutes ago. If the reply is deleted, it still appears as the most recent post a few minutes ago. If the entire thread is deleted it will eventually be removed from all the different lists although there can be a delay. Needs Reply Team The best method for Needs Reply Team is to use the needs reply list. Sorting by the recent option will also work, especially if you look for threads that have 1 next to the chat bubble as this represents only 1 post ie. the original post. You are welcome to reply to posts in threads that are not original posts, but these do not typically count towards a needs reply quota. Updated Jan 12, 2024 due to site updates. If any of this information appears to be incorrect feel free to post below. You may tag me @AffyAvo or the current community ambassador to request an update.
The value of forum upvotes

...See more [Note: Originally posted in Listeners Only forums, but moved to general forum because this is relevant for all!] There is something that I've notice about the forums while just observing and not actively participating. If you're interested in supporting people, truly interested in supporting people, I ask you to try this one thing after reading this post. Go to one support forum thread and read someone's story. You don't need to reply but just read. I think we can all recall times in our lives when we have been hurt, have been spurned, or have felt alone. Have been lost in our negative thoughts, seeking affirmation from others whether it be positive or whether it be negative. Do you remember those times? When I read the support forums, I see hundreds of posts made every day by members. And I see hundreds of threads created by those same members. What are they after when they post? Are they after a panacea, a magic bullet to cure all of their ills? Can you think of a time when you've been there? When you feel as though you're alone, hiding in the dark. Terrified from the lack of light, all you are after is one spark to inspire. One spark to remind you that you are important. One spark to acknowledge that you're still worthy of someone's time and attention. So when I see post after post after post unacknowledged, it makes me wonder. If I was them and I had shown the courage to spill my soul out onto the page for others and nobody had acknowledged that it had even been seen. How would I feel? As a listener community, we give appreciation readily and openly to one another. Community shout outs to listeners are posted every day. Anonymous appreciation messages are sent daily, again to fellow listeners. Acknowledgement after acknowledgement of one another which is so kind and open however why can this not be shared with our members? Let me just say this. A man beaten down by society sits on the side of the road, soul destroyed. Watching person after person look away quickly to avoid his gaze. It makes you feel like less of a human being. A smile, an acknowledgement is worth more to that man than all of the gold that has been mined from this earth. In the support forums, that acknowledgement is easy. It's called an upvote. A simple click of an upvote to show that someone has taken the time and care to read what they have posted. Please, spend 30 seconds and make a difference to a member's life today because a forum upvote can be all that it takes.
Need to contact a forum leader? Find out how here!

...See more Forum Leader Contact Form We have recently noticed a rise in the need for users to contact forum leaders effectively and consistently. We have also noticed a number of community users using forms and not getting a response back. As a result, we have streamlined the process so everything falls in one place! When might you want to contact a forum leader? ✔️ To ask for a post of yours to be edited, removed or moved to a different community / topic ✔️ To bring an outdated thread or post to our attention so that it can be edited or raised with the appropriate project leader (for example, threads including content from an old project or old role which is no longer relevant but may cause confusion if left unedited/visible)  ✔️ To make any kind of suggestion about a specific community or about the domain as a whole ✔️ To request for a new resource to be added to a community resources page  ✔️ For anything else! Key notes - All entries are viewable by a number of different forum leaders at all levels. If your query is personal or confidential, please reach out to a leader via PM.  - There will no longer be individual suggestion or contact forms for communities (this form will be used instead - if you spot any, let me know or submit a form with the location URL). This will help greatly in ensuring you get a timely response.  - You may still request post edits/removals by contacting a global community mentor directly [https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/?badge=110].  - To ensure your request is handled effectively, please ensure you clearly label which community your message is referring to (if relevant). Please note: this form is not to report forum posts which go against site guidelines. You can instead flag the post by pressing the small flag in the bottom corner of each individual post.  Outdated threads One of our challenges as a domain is keeping the forum clean, tidy and easily accessible by all. As leaders and projects evolve and change, there is always going to be outdated information across the forum (this includes threads listing inactive leaders or disused processes). Please support us with this by raising any outdated or irrelevant content via the form so we are able to review and ensure it does not cause any confusion.  Any questions, queries or comments can be posted below or directed to my PMs. Please also feel free to reach out to me if it's been a while and it doesn't seem like your request has been acknowledged or resolved. Thank you in advance for all your help with this 💛 ------------------------- Click here for the form [https://forms.gle/d98gN1dxxdTPRfor6]  -------------------------

7Cups Subcommunities Survey 2023
by CheeryMango

...See more Hello everyone! Several questions and concerns have been raised regarding the subcommunities and forums. We are finding that keeping track of the tags in the forums makes it difficult to find the issues you're facing and come up with a solution, so to better help improve these frequently used areas, we have created a survey where you can share your thoughts on our subcommunities and forums. As part of this post, I want to share the "7Cups Subcommunities Survey" form and ask everyone to fill it out. Please take a few minutes to take this survey and share your thoughts with us. This survey is divided into three sections: * General Information like your username, age group, account type, etc. * General feedback on the subcommunities * Leadership-based feedback (Only required if you are in any of the following roles: Room Supporters, Chatroom Moderators, Support Team Leaders, Forum Supporters, Project Agents, Community Mentors, and Community Mentor Leaders) We value your opinion, and we would like to get your thoughts on how we can improve the subcommunity experience! Here is the survey to submit: [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe0mpy77rwcRX1BA22E8TD41DqQkFUYXV3V5caBzwmfu9xysQ/viewform]Click Here [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe0mpy77rwcRX1BA22E8TD41DqQkFUYXV3V5caBzwmfu9xysQ/viewform](Note: the more constructive the feedback, the better. We can work much better with actionable solutions!) Thank you!
Information: Check-Ins

...See more Hello everyone! This is going to be an informative post on check-ins that happen or can be done in sub-community forums. You can refer to this thread anytime for all information on check-ins! ------------------------- Check-ins can be an important part of a thriving sub-community and can be a great way to bond and see how others in the community are doing. Each team is different, and check-ins may vary depending on team needs and interests. Here is some basic information about check-ins: * What is a check-in? A check-in is a thread that invites members to a safe and interesting place to meet and share their struggles, dilemmas, mental wellbeing and accomplishments with us. By doing check-ins, we are giving members the opportunity to seek support, let us know how they’re doing and interact with other members in the sub-community. * Who does these check-ins? Check-ins are done by the sub-community team members. They have assigned / signed-up spots for these. If there is no team member available (upon confirming) to do the check-ins, anyone can do these! * Where are these posted? Check-ins are posted in the individual community and appear just like other posts. * When are they done? Each sub-community has its own schedule - they can be daily, weekly, monthly, or really a single on-going thread that covers multiple dates. It really depends on the number of active and reliable team members. * What is the format for a check-in? The content varies depending upon the needs and interests of sub-communities and leaders. However, for those doing it, the basic structure (with examples) of a check-in includes: * Title * X Support Community Check-In: Month Date(s) Year * Photo/GIF * At the beginning or the end. * Ensure that the photo or GIF doesn’t display flashy or triggering images. * A description of the image/GIF can be super helpful. * Quote/Excerpt/Article/Video (Optional) * For the community to share their reactions, views, etc. on. * Theme for content, if any - for instance link to any Awareness Days or Months or Events, even advertise any group support discussions that week too.  Or Spring, Summer, holiday season, Thanksgiving etc. * Questions, mostly open-ended * Ask what is going well and what is not going well. * Post icebreakers or simple questions that relate to your community. * Simply ask how they are feeling. Let them share or ask them to rate how they feel on a scale of 1-10 or relate how they're feeling to a color. * Community Taglist * Use and attach the taglist at the end for members to be tagged, added, removed. Click here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/7CupsLeadership_188/SubcommunitiesInformation_2314/InformationTagsNotifyingUsers_280785/] to know more and for a list of community taglists. * Check-In Responses * Ensure everyone participating is replied to and the conversation is as much as supportive as possible from your end. * We want everyone participating to feel welcome, included, valued and cared for. * Even if they're just stopping by to say hi, give them a wave back! * Reminders * Lastly, remember to set the thread to check-in [https://www.7cups.com/forum/7CupsLeadership_188/LeadershipResourcesWhomToContact_2404/ForumPrivilegesWhomcanoneReachOuttoandforWhat_280285/] and be responsible with the whole process. It's perfectly okay to step back when needed and let someone else cover. It is not necessary to Feature it or Pin it. * Include other discussions, events happening and resources available in your community to use in the check-in! Also include information on check-ins where applicable in non-check-in areas so people know about these. * Don't forget to enjoy your check-in! * Check-ins are an important tool of community building and support so we cannot thank you enough for all the efforts! You are appreciated! ------------------------- A sample format for a basic check-in is here: Title: Check-In: February 7th-13th Photo/GIF: [Image Description: Text in bold on a blue background that says “Good morning, (in blue, red and yellow) Check-In Questions: * How are you feeling today? * What’s going well for you? What isn’t? * What was the highlight of your week/day, if any? Taglist: Click HERE (hyperlink the forum thread to the taglist) to be added/removed from the community taglist Insert names of persons in the taglist: @User1 @User2 @User3 ------------------------- All of this information is available in a Google Doc here [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yRFpDD2cbMuikoolJlEr2v81RxgRN0jA8XF8Yws6RQc/edit?usp=drivesdk]! ...See more Hello, everyone! Our dev team is hard at work restructuring our forums to improve functionality, efficiency, and overall make them easy and enjoyable to use. You may have noticed some changes were pushed yesterday. Here's a summary of the changes (just for browser at the moment and not app): * Cleaning up the layout of the lead post when viewing a thread, and ‘pinning’ it to the top of the page when you load up pages 2, 3, 4 etc of comments. * Adding in an extra set of page navigation buttons below the lead post * Reducing the amount of reply to a reply you can do to max 5. This is because too many threads of replies to replies were crashing big threads. Not ideal but necessary. * Reducing the top and bottom padding of white space for lead posts and comments The next change to be pushed out today is the ability to heart a post directly from the member homepage (feed). You can also click on the comment icon and be taken to the page to write a comment. You can also click on the comment icon and be taken to the page to write a comment. Going forward, we will be doing our best to inform the community of all site changes prior to rolling them out. Thank you for your patience and support as we progress. Note: We understand there are still bugs to be worked out. If you encounter any persistent bugs, please feel free to leave your comments here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/SiteUpdates_100/Feedback_37/ForumFunctionalityProvideFeedbackHere_274852/].

...See more Hello everyone! * General feedback on the subcommunities * Leadership-based feedback (Only required if you are in any of the following roles: Room Supporters, Chatroom Moderators, Support Team Leaders, Forum Supporters, Project Agents, Community Mentors and Community Mentor Leaders) The implementation and processing of responses will require time and effort and will not occur overnight. For this reason, your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated. I will keep you all updated on the progress as we deal with them one by one! Here is the survey to submit: Click Here [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe0mpy77rwcRX1BA22E8TD41DqQkFUYXV3V5caBzwmfu9xysQ/viewform] The survey will be closed on Jan 14th, 2022 at 11:59pm (Friday) Tagging leaders: @pamharley003 @amiablePeace77 @MrsAshleyMarie @EmmaE @PoliteOcean @KateDoskocilova @AnnaTess @AriadneLove @whenitsdarklookforstars @CheeryMango @sophiasanae @EvelyneRose @Greenchoice1 @KimsonTheSteveFundYPOC@amiablePeace77 @caringPanda45 @gentleSun78 @Robynni @pamharley003 @PuzichkinCat @DrDonut @Greenchoice1 @MrsAshleyMarie @Oceanwaves16 @SoftFaith2004 @TrickyRicky @astro0koala240 @LuluRings @optimisticMagic0014 @xinyii11 @EmmaE @Kara13V @MollyT @WeedyGarden @azuladragon34 @whenitsdarklookforstars @rrretsuko @RaindowdogsofParadise @EvelyneRose @HelaHeals @hopedreamlove @Mankka @PeaceLoveandPaws @VerseArt @Sher217 @AnnaTess @Lucy2 @DonaldDraper @courageousheart96 @KateDoskocilova @soulsings @AriadneLove @Bipedhuman666 @MidwesternCalmSeeker @MindfulListener82 @Starlasky @Sunisshiningandsoareyou @calmingMermaid5761 @cheerfulIcecream @considerateOrange2567 @courageousheart96 @crystalclearnow @kkea @mamtasha22 @sophiasanae @StarlitSky4762@An1mal @adventurousBranch3786 @GoldenRuleJG @Izzy274 @Moonlemon48 @explore1000 @jessrabbit7 @kindFish9215 @lifeisnotagame7 @Kelly500 @helpfulBraid5417 @koala240 @mySong @Artalistens @SilentSerenityy @MyNameIsNicole @YiannisAthanasiou @amusingCoconutL @emotionalTalker2260 @MoonlightPrimrose @MxSkeleton @caringHope1976 @listeningArrow8342 @Angelx28 @FairyPrinceSasha @FighterArpi @HealingBrokenWings @Hercules077 @Iamsidhere @ImACowNotACat @InquireWithin @Izzy274 @Lou73 @NewPenguin @SoothingHope @Sunnylistener @TheResilientDancer @WarmLightXO @bubblyMusic8297 @ComfortableCat5294 @hopebeyondpain @kdsyahirah @koala240 @secrecykhasya @ve3ciel @Jish07541 @FirstLight4762 @MarKiKaLex12 @Derekfan7695 @TayTayy @AmiableBubbles @empathicYosu1506 @mySong @OneCardShort @AutumnRainfallEtAl @xinyii11@soulsings @Azalea98 @MoonlightHelper1 @Sher217 @PoliteOcean @KateDoskocilova @RumpleSteeleSkin @Power @CheeryMango @VerseArt @rebecca947 @DayDreamWithYou @Mel @KimsonTheSteveFundYPOC@pamharley003 @lovelyWhisper66 @Eudaimonia99 @bookworm274 @tami150 @optimisticMagic0014 @EmmaE @tranquilbear14 @Lucy2 @SnailPurple @sia1325 @usefulSummer3139 @DonaldDraper @whenitsdarklookforstars @brightSunset61 @tranquilbear14 @Fristo @QuietMagic @ouiCherie @LavenderHere @mamtasha22 @Bubblegumwings1234 @Greenchoice1 @hopebeyondpain @aeris156 @hopedreamlove@amiablePeace77 @MeaningfulSilence @MoonlightHelper1 @RideaRainbow @KACOSMIC @MollyT @MyNameIsNicole @bestVase7265 @placidWest9840 @AffyAvo @wonderfulRainbow817 @MoonChild1206 @EveryMindMatters @faithlove1111 @SnailPurple @TaranWanderer @Mango3 @amazingNutella24 @Greenchoice1 @LoveToGod @LavenderFlower @sereneButton43 @KatieTheBigRockOne @lueurspace @sunshinegiraffe123 @SparklingSeashells @HelaHeals @xinyii11@AmethystUnicorn @Moonlemon48 @mspretentious @xinyii11 @crang17 @KACOSMIC @Lele01 @MollyT @Sealiously @SoftFaith2004 @Equinox56 @helpingxhearts @MoonChild1206 @LisaListens2ugladly @YiannisAthanasiou @crang17 @WhiteRoses25 @Clarisse29 @GoldenRuleJG @lemonicecreamcake @29Amy @Clarisse29 @Chloe1516 @HelaHeals @jovialSunshine5049 @calmingMermaid5761 @Greenchoice1 @Oceanwaves16
