There's no easy answer to this one. The main thing, I think, is to just keep going. Try everything. It can seem like the only thing left to do is give up, but I can promise you that if you just give it time, things will get better. Another thing - try to push yourself just a little bit. The more you stay in your room, the more you avoid other people, the more you refuse to leave the house, work, eat anything besides junk, the worse you will feel. If it is all you can do to get out of bed and change your underwear, then congratulate yourself for that. It's an achievement. I would recommend anyone suffering from depression diagnosed or suspected to see a professional if at all possible. If you can't afford healthcare and it isn't provided free in your country or area, there might be charities that could help you. At the very least, talk to a friend. A lot of people benefit from therapy and/or medication. Whatever you do, just keep going. Please don't give up - you will thank yourself for fighting one day.

Get up and move. Do ANYTHING other than sit on a couch or - worse - in bed. Walk down the street. Go to the store to buy a simple thing you need like milk etc.

You have to feel things. Feelings defy depression. Depression is when you are empty inside and things don't make sense or have a point. To feel emotions is to defeat depression.

Getting "rid" of depression is not the easiest thing to do. Most believe you can never fully get rid of it. I feel that your best options would be to seek professional help and let them guide you through the journey of dealing with depression.

Think of all your good memories and don't think about the thing which makes you more depressed. Do things which makes you happy.

Take each day as it comes and appreciate every little thing. It makes the days just a little bit brighter. Find the light in anything and let that be the outlook for your day.

Try doing something that takes your mind off of it - a hobby perhaps. Take up drawing, painting, something that allows you to create beauty or a scene of happiness. Try to fill your life with positive people and get rid of the poisonous ones.

Depression isn't something you can "get rid of", more something you can learn to cope with! There are techniques such as breathing, visualization, tactile response, and so many more that can help with this. Check out the depression group chat for more resources :)!

The most important thing to do when you're depressed is to acknowledge the reasons a person is feeling this way. Its not an easy thing to go through, because of how a person is feeling and also because of the social stigma attached to it. Which is why i believe that the only person that can help you the best is yourself. Its very important to seek help in all these situations but before that you have to try and remember that you are not a quitter. Whatever the reason is thats making you depressed is a problem and you have to be willing to try and find a solution for it and to make yourself happy and whole again. That is possible too, even if you may not believe it. Everything can become better someday and you have to find a lot of strength inside of you to fight your way through until you get at that point. Keep reminding yourself that this feeling is temporary and you can't allow it to take you down with it. You are so strong and you are so loved. Always remember that.

Depression normally happens if you have suppressed emotions that's are not dealt with over time. Its good if you can go through the emotions with a therapist/counselor to deal with them so that they don't reoccur and cause you to be depressed.

To be honest, I can't answer this because I don't feel like you can just get rid of depression. It's always going to be there in some way or another. BUT you can help yourself to feel better and cope with it! There are many ways you can help yourself and others cope with depression and any kind of mental illness. Firstly, seek help! It's always okay to ask for help whether it be a doctor, friend or even a family member. I can promise you someone out there cares, a lot more people than you think! They can support you and insure that you're okay. Secondly, don't do anything that you know will trigger you. That one is quite self-explanatory. Finally, the most important reason I think, is believing you can get better deserve help. I think once you accept that you need help and know that you deserve it (everyone does) everything will just fall into place. Everyone deserves it. Remember that.

You can get rid of depression by using therapy, exercise, structural rethinking, CBT, support groups, medication, and most of all, finding the root cause.

I don't think there is any way you can just 'get rid' of depression. There is a lot of ways you can treat depression. If you see depression as an illness, just like someone with a physical illness i think it makes things easier. First of all, talking about it can be a massive help. It might not seem like it but talking to people who are going through similar feelings to you can be really helpful as it makes you realise you aren't the only one who is going through this. Also there are anti-depressants, i am not qualified to talk about these but if you try and talk to your doctor i'm sure they will be able to help you and advise you on what you can do. I know a lot of people do not want to take medication and I can understand as it is a big decision but if you have severe depression it is something to look into. However there are other ways to help you with controlling your depression. Exercise is your best friend! I know this might sound weird but after exercise I feel like I can take on the world. Research has shown that it releases chemicals that make you feel good and boost your self esteem. There are also natural anti-depressants, however a lot of these don't have a great deal of evidence to support them. Though if you want to, they are worth a try! (Just do a lot of research before you take any). Mediation, mindfulness and yoga can help you and can reduce depression significantly. It is definitely worth trying as nothing bad can come out of it and it can also help you to calm down if you suffer with anxiety or stress in your everyday life. Hopefully one of these will help you. They may not cure depression but they will help reduce it. :)

In the long run, try to find the triggers and try to eliminate them or build up resistance against them (i.e. learn to perceive them differently). For that, you need to clear your mind. On a daily basis (and this is where the fight goes down), force yourself to do things that used to make you happy. Talk to people that are close. Take a shower and do nothing else. Listen to music and do nothing else. Take the dog out and do nothing else. Start slowly and then try to increase the amount of positive things you do but don't get frustrated when there's a relapse. Then, at points, start thinking about your depression directly, trying to understand it in order to be able to better deal with it. Most importantly, never stop fighting. And remember, if you need us, we got your back.

you can't get rid of depression in the blink of an eye. I have severe depression and I have had it since I was diagnosed at 13. I was given anti-depressants and I assure you that they work like wonders if you take them frequently to the right dosage.

Immerse yourself in the things you love. If drawing is your favorite, draw to your heart's desire. Sometimes, doing the things we love helps to distract us and understand how we feel.

You can't get rid of depression in 1-2-3, you have to take your time and don't rush it... Also you can't do it by yourself, so its very important to have someone to talk to..

There is no way to "get rid of depression". There is only ways to help weaken its impact/affect. There is not technical right answer since the situation depends on multiple things. Just do you and hope for the best. Try me good things. Help others. I haven't found a way for me to free myself from depressing so I'm not sure. Just enjoy everything while it lasts :)

If you're really looking to get rid of depression, that's something you should talk to a professional about. In my opinion, there's no "cure" for depression. There's only learning how to cope with it. Find something to enjoy and even if you don't feel like it, do it every single day. Don't stop doing it just because you don't feel well. Just do whatever makes you happy, but make sure you do it every single day for an hour or so.
