Hello everyone,
welcome to this month's check-in! This month is National Suicide Prevention Month.
The Hashtag is #BeThe1To
Ask
Asking people if they experience thoughts of suicide and talking about it may reduce suicidal ideation according to research.
Be There
Listening to someone without judgement can help a person feel less depressed, suicidal and overwhelmed.
Keep Them Safe
Making lethal means less available can make suicide rates decline according to a number of studies.
Help Them Stay Connected
Helping someone create a network of resources and individuals for support and safety can make them feel more hopeful and take positive action.
Follow Up
A supportive, ongoing contact with a person might be an important part of suicide prevention according to some studies.

And while doing all of this can be helpful to someone else, taking care of yourself is the highest priority. You have to ensure you are okay and safe before taking care of someone else. You can only help others when your own needs are cared for and you have the capacity to share your energy with someone else.
If you struggle with suicidal ideations yourself, you can find resources via www.7cups.com/crisis.

The link for 7 cups suicide link in your post is an orphan link. Perhaps you meant to post: https://7cups.com/crisis
Hi, Audienta,
Thanks for bringing attention to this important topic.
I'm not active at the moment, but I will copy and paste the links I had posted in my profile, for people experiencing crisis or other levels. Also, any Listener may feel free to copy and paste from this post, as this offers better resources.
♡🌹CRISIS:
7 cups Listeners do not have the training or back up to support you properly if you are in Crisis. In other words, your Crisis is worthy of better help than I can provide at this time.
If you are currently in a crisis situation where you or another in your environment are at risk of being harmed, please log off 7 cups and please go here to one of these links. https://7cups.com/crisis
Find a helpline has international listings and categories for all types of crisis. It is the best link I have found for International Links. Please note that some crisis lines have hours (eg., 9-4 business hours, or, what I would consider even more outrageous, hours like between 4-6 eg. a two hour window, better have your crisis during these hours! Or, even worse, no crisis line at all — the hours are listed on this site if they are available) and some do not accept calls from outside the country, though many do. This resource is maintained by a very reputable organization and if I were in crisis, I would go here first. https://findahelpline.com
Here are some other alternatives:
International Suicide hotlines: http://www.suicide.org/international-suicide-hotlines.html
Suicide crisis lines are listed here by country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_suicide_crisis_lines

Now Matters Now is a website that offers support for coping with thoughts of suicide through teaching DBT skills, videos, and personal stories: bit.ly/NMN_ref

Hi...I wanted to share that when I was a teenager I did something i regretted
Trigger warning: attempt
I unfortunately made an attempt and immediately regretted it
I began to cry I realised that I did not want to leave the world
.. this was actually something I had seen on television and from people around me to get attention
. My friend taught me such things.
However I realised then that when I did that I did not really want to leave...
I wanted attention...
and I guess after that someone realised and began to be like a guide for me.
I did not really think about the consequences of that in this life or afterwards...
Years later I was also faced with a traumatic event that made me feel that I did not want to remain in this world...but this time I thought I can't do anything..it's not allowed and I can't do that so I just asked God to take me. So I kept asking God before going to sleep not to wake me...but I kept waking up...this happened for several days...then I wondered why was God not answering me? But I thought to ask at the time what should I do with myself then...I saw nothing to do but asked that if God saw something or if I had some purpose or way to heal that he guide me...and I complained about everything, being deeply hurt, betrayed etc...and I thought the only way to deal with this was through death and leaving the world
However through this event and after I prayed my life seemed to turn completely. I had felt stuck...but I never thought that perhaps my feeling of 'coming to an end,' was actually a change in my current life...I ended up travelling and found myself in another place entirely...I have learned many things, gained qualifications and achieved different things throughout these years even if not entirely as I wanted.
When I was asking God to take me I felt as if he was reminding me of all the things I had thought to do before...and reminded me that I had parents and a family...how would they feel if I did that?
I also felt that God was trying to show me that life is valuable and a blessing when he is let me know a girl who was terminally ill and passed away...she had dreams to continue her education but passed away at19... And for me I continued, and travelled and realised from this girl and from these experiences that life is a blessing and there are many opportunities...we don't have to leave the world because of suffering, being bullied or hurt. We can change our lives...and maybe that feeling of coming to a dead end is a time for change.
I hate to think that there are people who did like me...and actually left the world. I hate to think that like me when they made an attempt they realised it wasn't what they really wanted. They might have wanted change, attention or peace. I wonder what their life would be like if they were here now...would they have been happier...got through things...made some changes and had a better life.
I have heard that many people who have made suicide attempts in the past and failed later on regret making them when their lives get better...
So I wanted to share this in the hope that it could benefit someone and inspire us to choose life.
We have only one life, it is a blessing. Things can get better and you can make changes you need to improve things. If someone left you you are still valuable and worthy of life. You are not a failure due to anything, ugly or unlovable because you have a purpose to be here
I also feel for those who lost relatives to people through suicide and do apologise if I have said anything here that might be considered triggering or offensive. I don't really know what to say but I hope you can find ways to deal with any loss related to this and sorry if anything might have affected anyone
@friendlyBranch6230
That's a very powerful story, thank you for sharing! I'm glad that your life took a turn for the better.
@audientaThank you so much
