Great book
I read the book. It helped me a lot. Might read it again in the future, if I need to.
The book is very inspirational!
@Hope
Steps 1 & 2 done! :)
My favourite part was definitely Chapter 10, aka the 5th cup: it is all about acceptance.
“Give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.”
-The Serenity Prayer
I think everyone should know how important this step is - everyone should understand what megative emotions are, where they come from and what their purpose is. Accepting what you can'y change and letting yourself feel the feelings you avoid is essential into one's recovery.
The thing that struck me the most was definitely the explanation as to why negative emotions are so important in our lives - their role is to change you into the person who can handle this life. So accurate.
It's such an inspirational book, you definitely get to understand yourself a bit better after reading it, thank you, 7 Cups!
@Hope Recently downloaded it and I'm in love with it!!
Just finished reading through the book and have left a 5 star rating
My favourite part would have to be the denial section more specifically focussing on the iceberg metaphor. Great book well thought out and very well written 🙃
@Hope
Read it, and reviewed ;)
Coincidentally enough, I only just recently downloaded the Kindle reading app for my Macbook! Since I've never had any type of other e-reader, I never really got into the e-book scene much, but have found some interesting Amazon free reads recently, and this was a nice additional to my new collection.
This felt like a nice refresher to me when I was in an intensive outpatient DBT (and then, a year later, a different but similar CBT program) group therapy. So reading a lot of this felt like a gentle reminder of things I've already learned, but forgotten about.
No one tells you that it's hard to actively remember, practice, and engage with DBT/CBT skills and coping mechanisms. So I'm glad to have read this, and to have it in my new Kndle collection to reflect on too <3
I haven't read the book but I'm searching for it I'm sure it will be a very good read
It was a great one!! I sat down with my coffee and read it within a few hours. Would definitely give it a 5/5 <3
