3 Key Things!

GlenM November 18th, 2019

Please post here 3 key things you have done to help move 7 Cups forward. I will be doing this on a daily basis. Feel free to do it daily, weekly, or monthly. Right now we've got thousands of people doing a lot of work on the site, but we don't have a clear way of being able to support one another. The goal of this thread is to help all of us see all the good work that is going on. Please ask any questions or share thoughts!

Hello! 😊

Ethan February 10th, 2020

I've been doing a lot recently and I am proud of how much I am able to contribute to the community!

1. Recruited Listeners to apply to become Verified
2. Caught up with my Interns and sent out a badge-request reminder
3. Got my first mentee as a Quality Teen Star!
4. Updated my personal 7Cups dashboard to keep track of my roles, goals and responsibilities, as well as my interns, my (new) mentees and listeners I message for the VL team.

If any listeners in a volunteer leadership role would like a tip -
Create a personal (private - remember confidentiality is key!) 7Cups dashboard with one page for each of your roles. Summarise your responsibilities in this role, list your goals in this role, and then list individual tasks you're aiming to complete and when by. If you need to regularly keep in touch with other members/listeners as part of this goal, or post on the forums regularly, record this, too! Feel free to message me to see a sample dashboard.

@GlenM

Hi. In the spirit of demonstrating how 7Cups can crowd-source to get answers . . .

here is my small, very quick, humble contribution to your mention of research needs:

Regarding your item 2 - therapy/peer-support best practices, best in class, and competitive analysis. . .

for Anxiety Support Groups, here is one view of the competition (which you probably already have)

https://www.verywellmind.com/best-online-anxiety-support-groups-4692353

Regarding getting better results. . . measuring and collecting data are the keys to understanding and tracking progress of individuals and therapy approaches here at 7Cup and understanding changes members need over time (feedback loop) as explained here

https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2017/04/what-your-therapist-doesnt-know/517797/

If you want more specific research, let me know and I'll gladly do some focussed digging for you.

1.) Phoned the Sleep center RE: sleep study and asked that a note be given to my doctor that I can't afford the BiPap they were going to try out, so I want to try to fine tune the settings on my machine I already have.. the titration (oxygen level) monitoring is fine too.

2.) Phoned the CPAP rental place to let them know that I would be losing the Medicaid portion of the CPAP rental in March, so they would have to bill me next after Medicare. Asked when they do the billing for the month.

3.) Phoned my cell phone provider and told them I need to downgrade my plan back to Lifeline coverage.

4.) Phoned my GP and found out they accept sliding scale based on gross income. Also of note, they have a psych ARNP on staff in my city. Made a note to phone for more information re: referrals and paperwork and estimate of charges for new patient visit/ continuing visits.

5.) Another phone call of a personal nature

6.) Phoned Paratransit and found out that I will no longer be able to use their services as of March 1st.

7.) Moved the dishes I've been hoarding downstairs to the upstairs sink.

8.) Returned a book to my therapist that I'll be having to leave after this month.

@berryfields2409

Thanks for setting an example of how to deal with such things.yes

I find it's a big challenge sometimes dealing with insurance companies and the health care industry.

Being methodical like you are seems like the best approach. Well done. yes

Hello. My latest 3+ things to support our Community since last posting. This is like a journal entry for me smiley

- More profile update (kaizen - constant refining and evolution) made it more organized, added more links to related 7Cups resources.

- Sent welcome private msg to new Members that have problems that I cover but I didnt' catch in time to chat.

- Replied to Glen's 3 things message above and offered to provide competitive analysis if any research is wanted. I have a lot of experience in getting needed answers on hard to find topics. I provided Glen with some example related relevant key info I had on-hand from an investigation I did recently for myself.

- Searched web for how to effectively use self-talk and rules-to-live-by to drive desired behavior changes and simplify life.

- Got nice surprise... earned "Voice Badge" for 50+ forum posts. Yay! smiley

- Learning how to provide kind enthusiastic validation from great forum reply examples here by @Hope, @Heather225, @ASilentObserver, and @SparkyGizmo and All Others heartsmiley Thanks All for the great examples you are all setting.yes

@7motivation Thank you for your encouragement & I love your list

@7motivation

I just wanted to thank you for giving me an amazing start to my day! Typically, this forum thread is one of my first stops before I hit the ground running on this site! For me, I log in my activities from the day prior and I also find sources of inspiration here before my new day begins. Today, you are the one that gave me the gift!heart

Thank you for recognizing me. Thank you for telling me that "I am the example" and being a good one for you! Oddly enough, this is what I tell myself constantly on this site, "be the example". No matter where I go here, because it's a pretty big place, this is truly my intention! smileyheart Another thing that I do is read my own profile page. Did I mean what I said? Is this how I feel? Yes, words are not just words to throw around, words have meaning. I meant ever word that wrote on my profile page, and when I start a new day here, well, it's time to execute the plan!smiley And be the example!smiley

We all have gifts here and we all learn from one another! One hand really does wash another and it's called team work and sharing and learning from one another. My mantra: learn, help, learn help, wash, rinse, repeat.

I sit back and see your gifts and what you bring to the table as well. I think you have been given gifts that I don't have. But I see them, and I read what you have to say and so you teach and help me too! heartyes Thank you for bringing your insight, your brilliance, and all of your gifts to 7 cups! smiley

I really enjoyed your post yesterday in regard to music. Indeed, that music can be a powerful motivator. And you taught me so much yesterday!

I for one see music just as any other art form and it ends up being all about "what does it mean to you".

So, on this thread, I leave you my dear friend, my gift of music today. Pet Shop Boys "Opportunities". I hope you enjoy my gift. In the lyrics, I don't exactly take them literally, I take them figuratively, just as I would do while gazing at a piece of art hanging on a museum wall. For me today, it represents all of the different gifts that everyone has to bring to the table here on this site. We all learn from another. learn, help, learn, help, wash rinse, repeat. We all work together and it's not about making money here (some of the song lyrics) it's about working together, learning and figuring out how to help each other along in this great big world of ours.

Again, thank you for sharing all that you are! *hugs* heart
