Self-Forgiveness - A Short Video Message & Discussion
Watch this 3 minute video of me!It is a video message for all of youon the topic that has been on my mind this week: of self-forgiveness!
To me self-forgiveness is something we all can practice every day! Please watch the video and share your thoughts on this topic here :)
For those of you who don't know me yet, hello! I look forward to hearing what you have to say!
I keep telling others who are struggling to be gentle with themselves. Sometimes, I ask them what they would tell anyone other than themselves, and ask why they don't deserve the same kindness. I think it's time to start listening to myself.
I am really hard on myself when I make a decision. I know this is not necesarrily the right thing to do, but by being hard on myself, I force myself to remember this next time I need to make a decision. This sometimes leads to days of feeling unwell and being, well, depressed. This is the most difficult thing to do for me, as I do not always like myself or the person I am. Just my random thoughts.
Thank you so much for posting this thread. The video was very helpful. I have something I wasn't happy with myself with in the past so it really hit home with me. I just felt like you were speaking to me directly and I took those words in and thought about them... and we should really forgive ourselves. Thinking about how we could have acted or what we could have done better will not help us develop and maybe even hold us back. I think, too, that we should accept who we were and know that we can't change this moment and for that reason forgive ourselves, even if it's hard.
Again, thank you so much for the video :).
Wow! Great Video @Laura! Self Forgiveness versus Self Loathing! Yes! I used to be a person of much self loathing. Now, I am a person of much self forgiveness. I am extremely grateful for this change in my life! Thank you for posting this Awesome Video! :D

@friendlySkies927let us know what you think :)
I enjoyed the video. I have a very hard time with self forgiveness. I made some very bad decisions regarding a 3 yr relationship and my partner left me. I know everything was not my fault but I constantly replay the situation and beat myself up over it. I have a lot of negative self talk. I am trying to learn to forgive myself. It's a process but I do want to get there.
Dear ~~ friendlySkies927 ,
It sounds as if you have made the first step towards self forgiveness already! You are well on your way! :D Best wishes on your journey ahead!
Sincerely,
FaithfulPerson

Self-forgiveness is very important because it gives us thechance to start anew and move on from what we did that we thought was unforgivable. I made a lot of mistakes in my life that I was so sorry for and it took me a while to forgivemyself, though the people around me have already forgiven me. Now, everything is ok, Ihave forgiven myself and thus, have also learned to love myself.
Thanks for the video @Laura..?
Agreed!
nice post, ~~pm229

it's much easier to forgive yourself when others forgive you. if they forgive you, then there's no reason you can't forgive yourself as well. But what if they don't, or don't believe your apologies?
I thought that this was a lovely video by Laura talking about how forgiveness is important it helps us to move on after all no one is perfect
I loved this video so much! I'm usually quite hard on myself, and will rag on myself constantly if I didn't do somethingperfectly.. And I'm so bad at self-forgiveness! It really helped to watch this, and it made me realize that I need to consciouslywork towards forgiving myself.
It's weird how foreign it feels to forgive myself, to accept myself, to love myself. but it can make me feel so much better. I dunno why I resist this.
A good start to a long process for me... Thank you
