how long have you been self harm free? (possible trigger warning: SH)

I've seen this sort of thing on a couple of other sites.

It's to put your accomplishments, relapses or anything you want it to be

you could post every day if you need to or once a month, no accomplishments too small.

and if you relapse, you are strong. and you can do this.

I will try get back to as many people as I can and if you need message me on here.

if this doesn't work oh well, but id like to see it work.

Hope you are liking all the cute cat pictures! [v] here is your next clue, where can you introduce yourself if you're new to the subcommunity this month?

I was for 5 years and yesterday I did it. It felt like a compulsion. I tried so hard not to. I'm so ashamed

Please don't be ashamed. Even when it's been a while, it's still hard not to think about it. I'm proud of you for going so long and I believe that you can stop again.

Update: Just after my 6 weeks mark I relapsed on Friday. I had been through a lot of tough things going on this past week and my parents were finding things to bring me down. They basically called me a disappointment because of the decisions I decided to make to help and support my boyfriend. I feel no matter what I try to do to make every decision to do the right thing, whether its shortening my work hours so I can get more school stuff done or making decisions that seem to be adult things I can't get them to be proud of me or anything. I've thought about moving out without saying a word to them so many times.

I still have a lot of trouble with it. I've gone months without cutting and then something small makes me snap. It's hard not to feel like you failed but I really believe you can do this.

@bifesky Aww, don't give up by this setback and continue progressing from 3 months to even longer! Here's a thread which you can read through and get some tips on reducing your frequency of it. I believe you can walk out of this, and reaching far beyond 3 months! laugh

I've been 3 maybe 4 days clean. I thought getting help from professionals and medicine would work, but I keep relapsing. Every week, every other week, never more than a month has gone by in over 6 years.

@HisFallenAngel Ah that's a long time. Don't be discouraged that nothing seems to be working for you- it's always good to be open to new options and receptive to different help. smiley You may want to read through this thread here and if you need, do connect with a listener who includes self-harm in his/her area of expertise. Keep your mind open to more help, because not all help will be suitable for you, but you will eventually get the help you need one day! laugh I believe that you can eventually walk out of this!

@KaylaEnglish 3 days is a great start! Try to aim for a short time like a week, then when you reach that, aim for 2 weeks, then 3 weeks, and so on. That might help you a little.

Stay strong and keep fighting this, because you are so worth it!
