OUR ORIGINAL POETRY: Share It Here
Hello there everyone!
If you're reading this it means that you probably are quite fond of poetry and writing it to. This is a thread to post all and any poetry that you may have, be it happy, sad, angry or just silly. All styles are welcome (free verse, couplets, slam) and it would be great to have at least one poem up a day for all of us to enjoy together!!
I believe where there's a will there's a way. I believe that life is about taking chances. I believe that you never know if you don't try. I believe that with God anything is possible. I believe we owe everything to God. I believe faith should be a person's strongest belief. I believe prayer should be a priority. I believe family comes first. I believe acts of curiosity can revive another's happiness. I believe the lord forgives us for our sins. I believe mistakes mature, teach, and help people to grow wiser. I believe God creates everyone with the perfect significant other, they just have to find them. I believe that everyone deserves to be in love. I believe all girls should have class. I believe a baby can brighten up anyones life. I believe everyone deserves a second chance. I believe everything happens for a reason. I believe we should all be blessed that we are alive. I believe everyone deserves respect. I believe in trust after mistakes. I believe it's unhealthy for anyone to be alone. I believe love can save lives. I believe that a bestfriend is always there for you, even when they know you are wrong. I believe you could never be too curtious. I believe forgiveness should always be granted. I believe that you should forgive, but never forget. I believe life is too short to hold grudges. I believe a smile can make someones day. I believe the best things in life are family, friendship, and love.
I feel i'm loosing control.
My hands are getting sweaty, there slippin.
My grip is getting weak.
My body begins to shake.
I can't hold on much longer but, wait..
For my fate is fadin away.
How much more can I take?
Will you be there in the end? Should I even wait?
I'm falling oh so very fast, I don't expect a catch...
I do expect a fall.
I feel so very small.
What a big world after all.
Now let me go i'll be okay.
I have this world wrapped around my finger... Twice.
@BeautifulMessimin -- LOVEthe last two lines -- wonderful!
One quality which is mostly looked askance,
one trait which could be a form of clairvoyance,
one which could only be found by chance,
is none other than munificence,
more commonly known as generosity,
being a mere function of alacrity as well as nobility,
is one of the many nice traits, which in terms of abundance, is nothing short of scarcity.
This poem is about a bird who feels bright
in the middle of the night.
She flies and dances with freedom and joy
in the night
which is quiet and bright.
Bound to live in dark
Bound to lose...
Whilst she desires to taste the day light
which always ends with a doom in her life.
She has mastered in every subject along with her utmost shyness
but except in finding real happiness.
She believes in love,
which she considers worthwhile.
She dreams about the boy
who, she thinks would heal her and
bring her the real joy.
Being naive and shy,
there is no malice in her heart.
She, who has feelings for everyone
doesn't have one for herself.
She is obscured by the gloomy thoughts
which she allows to swallow all her liberty
to chase her beautiful dreams.
She knows, that she now needs someone
to express all the deep sorrows in her heart
but, she doesn't like to vex anyone.
She finds light in the gloomy night
dreaming about the boy with might.
Eventhough she has yet to meet him,
she awaits with a gleam of hope.
Dear @theSciKid,
This poem evokes a lovely picture of yearningand hope. The images of shyness and need for healing and love make my heart ache. Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem.
Before you come;
Mix the scent of birch trees,
Gunpowder and
Fresh, mowed grass.
Rub grey apathy
And a breath of sunburnt hay
Onto theredness
Of somnolent poppies.
Lay the stillness of a Dumka
On the purplesuffering
Of an imminent sunset
Inside the Gypsy voices
At last, beloved,
Find me
In the prison of thoughts
Braided into a spider web
Of doubt and
Swallowed tears
Then, alas, you'll know
The scents, faces and sounds
Of a long lost
Halychyna
By the way, I looked up the word Halychyna, and it seems to be a place in Ukraine that was once in Poland. Terrible battlegrounds.
I'm glad you liked it :D
Yes, it is a historical region between Poland and Western Ukraine, but there is no such thing any more. And I was born in Lviv, so...yes. It's a place that's more of an imaginary land than a piece of history.
Turning 50 with 40 years of marriage...married at 10?
Interesting story still. Did you dream it?
Eyses with tears Mind full of fears Skin with blood Am i that bad? Monsters are not under my bed Its inside my head They want reality But my life will be fatality Death is not the solution But its always an option Just think that dying Is a start of a new beginning
This is so sweet and lovely. Thank you so much for writing this - it really made me smile. I've been feeling quite awful recently but this cheered me up xxx thank you so much, darling
This voices in my head,
Keep repeating the same mistake,
I'm falling insidethe dark
Can't anyone save me tonight,
I need a light,
To guide me home,
Home is when your arms hold me tight.
When the sun sets and your nowhere to be found,
I'll break as the sun kissed the ground,
So hold on to me,
Don't let me go,
Tell me lies,
That i want to hear...
Just a simple i love you,
@NothingButSilence
This poem really touched me. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Joy and fear
Happiness and tears
Reality seems to be just a dream
compared to this ancient place
in which everyone is what
he wants to be
Because we all
are dreaming

She Once Said
The girl who said she'd never cut,
had scars on her wrist
She once said she didn't understand suicide,
She said she'd never commit
Her previous change of heart
became her present and her last
As she must have understood
What it meant to become the past.
Dear @HannahCoffee98.
This.
is.
an.
AMAZING.
poem.
Really something special.
Honestly I strongly relate to this so much, it's good to know I'm not alone. It made me feel rather like a hypocrite sadly.
i love this so much.... it is REALLY amazing and quite accurate. *applauds*
An mourning mother,
a star-less sky,
an orphaned child,
who believes the lie.
the path of a tear,
the blood from a knife,
a bottle of pills,
formy messed up life.
A soul-less smile,
the pain behind her mask,
faking happiness,
is a very hard task.
@MikaeliBlaise09-- Thanks for sharing your work. Excellent poem!
The faucet drips,
And my stomach makes a loud growl.
Still I feel nothing.
I know I should eat,
I should probably sleep,
But I can't quiet my mind
Enough to do things for myself.
I want to feel something
But all I can bring myself to feel
Is shame.
Is this mental illness?
Is this what they warn us about?
I always thought
I would be able to tell
When my mind slipped
Into madness.
I suppose I was wrong.
Dear @LittleGypsy2, thank you for sharing this haunting poem. The last five lines knocked me out.
THank you so much. I have been writing for years but always to afraid to let others read. I figured this site would be a good place to start. I've had this one floating around on my phone for a while now. 😊
There are a million voices. They tempt you throughout the night. You can try to ignore them, but they'll put up a fight. So they scream louder until you eventually give in. So you take the blade and draw into your skin. So now you have to live with the guilt of the scars that will remain. Because all you wanted to do was kill all those demons, with pain.
This is me, oh my gosh, this is me. i can relate to this poem. thanks for sharing it nicole, you are a gifted writer.
Nocturne by the metro station
Slowly, we pass
through Nyamiha street,
walking on the shadows
of sleepy street lights
and measuring time
In the polyrhythm
Of heartbeats and footsteps
Now is the time to love me.
Upon your lips
I feel the scents
Of musk and boyhood dreams
while the moon's vigil
prays for the unborn
sighs of my longing
Now is the time to love me
Father. That particular word can have several different meanings behind it. To some, its the person who taught them to ride a bike. The person who walked them to the classroom on the 1st day of Kindergarden. The person who picked them up after life shoved them down with a mighty rage. But that's not always the case. To some, it's the person who is capable of making them break down in their room because of their harsh words. The person who they try so hard to avoid, because of how get treated once they're spotted by them. The person who hurt them before anyone even had the chance to. But we'll be okay. We'll make it through this life, because we deserve it more than anything else. Just remain breathing. Don't let anyone's words or actions affect you because you're worth it.
Dear @helpfulGlobe9653, This poem touched me. I was lucky to have a kind father, but not everyone does. Far from it, sadly. I have no doubt you'll toucha nerve with readers due tothe power images you shared here.
This is a poem I've written about a very close friend of mine who lives in America. For the last two years he has changed my life dramatically and I owe him a debt I know can never be fully repaid. I hope you enjoy, thank you. 😊
My angel
I have seen an angel cry,
He's tears a flow,
I need naught to ask why,
The pain concealed behind those velvet eyes,
Stole my broken heart,
Tightening our bonds into unbreakable ties,
This gentle creature whom I thought could never exist entered my world once so cold,
Thawing, renewing,
With a smile so radiant, so bold,
Always dependable, the tender wing,
Guiding me through,
Though everything,
Giving me joy I thought I could not own,
By his acts of kindness,
I have grown,
He was my eyes when I was so blind, my strength when I was weak,
My faith when it was lost,
My voice when I couldn't speak,
His wisdom far beyond his years,
His courage so inspirational,
To know how he faced such trials, to faced such fears,
Upon his sleeve his does his heart lie,
But behind his beautiful smile,
This angel often does cry,
Tears staining his handsome face,
Remembering old wounds,
And how I wish I could be there to hold him in my embrace,
To grasp his hand,
Showing how I truly care,
That I understand,
But alas, divided are we,
Miles so very far part,
By the roaring ocean sea,
To hold him in my arms,
To heal his own fragile heart,
For him I would face the world and all of it's harms,
For he is my life, my new beginning,
And I will wait patiently for that day,
When we finally meet, and my own heart shall be singing.❤️
Dear @Lipsticklycanthrope, this poem is terribly compelling. It actually made my breath catch.
TRIGGER WARNING
There was a girl who loved her life,
In the end there was a knife,
It started out at school,
She was talking to her friends
who werepretty cool,
Her friend began to say how shes emo,
Shewanted to be like her friend,
She looked for advice around the bend,
Her friend taught her how to self harm,
The girl did it like she was times on an alarm,
The innocent girl got addicted to cutting,
But bully's just keep on tutting
