@QuietMagic hi again !!!
i think im pretty good, im trying to navigate my identity for the second time in my life so its stressful but i think itll be worth it !
the things that brought me "peace" for the longest time was really unhealthy :{ i think what does it now is my art ! it gave me an outlet with no limits on what i have to show up as or do for certain people, and its really freeing which i think contributes to my sense of peacefulness :}
hug hugs !! for anyone that wants them :3
@loftalex07
Hello! Ah yeah, I didn't really specify healthy vs. unhealthy. 😊 That's nice that the art has been working well as a substitute for what used to be there. Sounds amazing what you mentioned of there being no limits on what to be/express while doing it. (Is the art helping with working through the identity shift you mentioned?)
@QuietMagic ooo definitely ! being able to draw whatever i want is so refreshing i love it
drawing myself is still a bit iffy but it feels more like i live vicariously through fictional characters hehe
@QuietMagic
💙How are you doing today?
Okay ish i guess
💙 What is something that brings you a sense of peace? (Or if peace doesn't feel accessible, what helps with navigating that lack of peace?)
Watching some series helps me.
@daydreammemories
Hey, glad that things aren't terrible. 😊 Watching anything in particular right now?
@QuietMagic
Glimore girls haha. Thanks ❤️
@daydreammemories
Oh, I haven't seen that but have definitely heard of it!
@QuietMagic
😁😁
@QuietMagic
what brings me peace is my spiritual beliefs and Christ. for me this helps a lot as we believe we never alone and always looked out for. even when bad things happen. we had our beliefs since we was very little. so even within the abuse and isolation as a child. this was the one thing that helped us have peace. it the same today too.
also after we moved away from family being safe brings us peace a lot. we are not as fearful as we was and not looking behind us all the time. so freedom from abuse brings us peace.
@stormieandpaws
That spiritual connection sounds really powerful. 💜 It was there when you were younger even when things were at their worst, and now it's still there as a kind of bedrock of peace/comfort (even while you're in a better situation now and maybe have additional resources on top of that).
@QuietMagic
yes at time it was the only thing we had to give us hope too
@QuietMagic
yes it helps me a lot now after moving. as made connections with other believe same as we do. this been very important after moving. we moved to city we know no one and not much about, but we connected to people though our spiritual belief. they helped us find what help we have here and have supported us some too.
@QuietMagic
hey Quiet.
I’m doing actually ok thank you today. How are you doing today?
something that brings me peace? I’m still searching so pass on that.
what does peace feel like? Please pardon my lack of knowledge just don’t really know so hence my answers.
@LabeledBPD
Hello, good to see you again! I've been kind of exhausted but am mixing together relaxation and bursts of activity where I'm making progress on things I need to do.
***
I didn't trust myself to define what peace is... and I'm glad I didn't. 😊 Found an interesting article that describes four different types:
- Peace of ease - relaxation, parasympathetic nervous system activation
- Peace of tranquility - mind/body settled
- Peace of awareness - witnessing experiences without being disturbed by them
- Peace of what's unchanging - things that are reliable amidst change
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/your-wise-brain/201611/what-is-your-sense-peace
That does sort of align with my experience that maybe there are some kinds of peace along the lines of "I feel deeply relaxed" (1st/2nd types) and maybe other types that are more like "Things are stressful/frantic but I feel okay and like there's something stable to rest in amidst the changes" (3rd/4th types).
@QuietMagic
why is nothing ever simple like the simple understanding of peace… words and meanings when related to human nature really are anything but simple. So much grey.
thank you for the article, it’s very insightful. Like yourself, how that relates to peace you may or not be experiencing is still not fully understood.
Do you ever feel like you are trying to not simply understand all know understanding to quantum physics learning about this stuff but fell like you are trying to further the already known knowledge on quantum physics. An analogy or metaphor, idk i rarely went to school but i am curious if i am the only one who’s brain can go off the deep end trying to figure things out.
i mean there’s so many variables, very subjective, so is there a true answer after all beyond subjective interpretation? I like tangible measurable results that are objective, so it’s probably no surprise i struggle.
Thank you though again for providing the link.
i’m doing okay today. my boyfriend and i got into a fight while we were spending time together which really hurt because we don’t get to spend a lot of time together. fights happen though, we just have to push through it. i’m reminding myself it’s okay to feel my feelings and express those feelings, i just have to learn how to do so without being overbearing.
something that brings me a sense of peace is working. i’m a lifeguard and i love it. my coworkers are more than amazing, the patrons that come in to swim are amazing, my bosses are amazing, overall the job is just amazing. i feel a sense of hope that things will get better someday somehow when i’m lifeguarding.
@purplecatz8
Sorry that the fight happened, especially when you don't have much time with your boyfriend so every bit feels precious. 💜 Did things feel like they're resolved or is it still an ongoing issue?
That sounds like a dream job! Liking what you do, liking your coworkers, your patrons, your bosses, etc. I imagine it's pretty stabilizing to have at least one part of your life where things are going really well and it's possible to feel satisfied.
