We're thrilled to announce the launch of our newest community addition: Pen Pals! 🌐
Why Pen Pals?
Over time, we've observed a delightful surge in threads where users aim to stay in touch outside our chat rooms, whether due to aging up or simply desiring a dedicated space for connections. In response to this, we're introducing the Pen Pals Community to provide an exclusive platform for these valuable interactions.
Key Features:
1. 🤝 Stay Connected: Connect with fellow members beyond the chat rooms.
2. 🏡 Dedicated Space: A centralized hub for threads aimed at maintaining connections.
3. 🔄 Thread Relocations: Threads used for communication in other communities will be relocated here.
How This Impacts You:
1. Existing Threads: Threads used for communication will be relocated to the Pen Pals Community for a seamless transition.
2. New Threads: Going forward, please create all communication threads within the Pen Pals Community.
Enhancement to Communication Threads:
When creating these threads, please include in the title and body the usernames of those the thread is intended for. This personal touch ensures a clear connection.
📌 Example:
Title: "Chat with @Username1 and @Username2 – Memories and Updates!"
Body: "Hey @Username1 and @Username2, let's keep the conversation going in this thread!"
Additionally, you can request others to avoid commenting in your thread space if needed.
Why the Change?
- Centralized Conversations: Concentrating all communication threads in one space for better organization.
- Personalized Touch: Including usernames ensures that your message reaches the right individuals.

I already had a spidey sense about something like this possibly being added, because of how popular these threads have become. Makes me really hyped to see how cups is improving and try their best to help people connect with each other. ❤️

What a great idea! It will work better, as my thread often gets buried in new threads from the different forums and I could only find it by using the search option.
Mango, I have a thread I started with another member 9 months ago.. Does it mean that it'll be relocated to this new Community?

Considering that some convos are specifically about subjects having to do with other threads (i.e. Arts & Crafts; Depression Support; Journals & Diaries), this move could create an awful lot of confusion for members here. If a convo is suddenly moved to the Pen Pals thread & the posters log on & go to where it was originally, they will not find it. That is just one way that people will feel mentally dislocated by this idea.
@CheeryMango, have you thought about this?
Maybe rather than relocating the already existing threads, to just allow those who want to move their threads to the new Community to make the request. Or have it there to allow those who want to start a new thread with the same purpose in that Community, especially if they don't have a specific Community to start the thread in.

We can review these on a case by case basis. We'll start relocating threads into the new community so everything is organised and in its right place and if the original poster has preference as to where their thread goes we can discuss this (this mostly applies to the communication threads which are posted across the forums). Like always, posters will be notified via PM of any thread relocations 😃

This is so exciting! Exactly what the community has been needing. I hope everyone gets great use out of this space and it increases the strength of organic connections happening here.
This seems such a cozy place to have a looong conversation day after day, month after month!
Plus will protect from intrusions by outsiders to the owners of each thread, as the title and the rules of this new space will make clear that each one is for the exclusive use of its owners.
