What instrument do you play?
What instrument do you play and how did u decide to pick up learning it?
I learned piano when I was 5. Haven’t played in a while, though. It wasn’t by choice, my mom thought it would help me academically. It’s a beautiful instrument, though. my favourite to play.
We had to learn an instrument in school (after the whole mandatory ‘learn to play a recorder’ business) so in 5th grade(?) I learned clarinet and bass clarinet and a little bit of saxophone. I was in jazz band because I sign up for things impulsively.
I went to an arts high school and I wanted to learn guitar because I liked it and it’s a common instrument in the bands I like to listen to. My hands are too small to play it easily, though. Some girls taught me ukelele instead. So I can play that a bit. I write dumb little songs with it sometimes.
I wish I could play cello. I dated a competitive cellist once. She (They/he? Now? I think? Maybe? We haven’t talked in a while, I heard rumors though, so apologies if I’m misgendering) could play so well that I could feel her music in my chest. When I fell in love with her, I fell in love with the cello too.

When I was little, i used to play the piano. I took a couple lessons but got tired of it. Then a little later, I picked up the cello for this orchestra i was apart of. We got to choose which string instrument and so i picked cello because it was one of the biggest haha. Oh and recently, I got a kalimba.
I have been thinking of trying to learn saxophone but every instrument I have tried to learn so far has held my interest for like 3 days tops, so it’s bugging me that I’m even thinking I would stay with it this time. Guitar might be easier, but when I tried it before the tips of my fingers hurt so much. How long does that last before it stops feeling like torture?
So if you have words of encouragement or discouragement, either are appreciated 😂
@hopefulPond6108 You got this! Have you tried using a guitar pick? It might help. I wish you the best!
@comfortableNight4463 Thanks. No I meant the hand that plays the cords. Smashing the tips of one’s fingers on a tiny steel string or even a plastic string is probably like a gazillion pounds per square inch of pressure right at the finger tip nerve endings. I suppose you get callouses eventually, but 😱

used to play the alto sax (about five years (barely improved though)), but completely forgot how to during covid. (lost interest over time)
though i really wanna learn how to play the drums. i just have one that's electric(?). it just seems so fun to play
@comfortableNight4463 I play the flute! Very pretty instrument
