I am a Pianist : Ask me Anything

Hey guys i hope everyone's doing well. I am sorry for not being able to post for sometimes due to my break.

So a little about me as a musician hehe. I started playing the keyboard(not your desktop keyboard :p ) since i was 6 and moved to piano when i was 10. I started giving Trinity london college of music exams for piano practicals and music theory and completed grade 7 for piano and grade 6 in music theory.

I'd be happy to share my knowledge if you ever wanted to know anything about music and of course meet other musicians. keep posting  :)

a fun fact of the PianoWhen the strings vibrate, they produce sound. On a piano, however, those vibrations are initiated by hammers hitting the strings rather than by plucking or by moving a bow across them. So, the piano also falls into the realm of percussion instruments.

@BlueRivercares wow! You can play the piano that's awsome ❤❤ not last Xmas but the one before my carers bought me a disabled people piano😁 it's a thumb piano, you can hold in your hands, and it sounds like a kind of harp sound when you flick some of the keys, it's so pretty ❤❤ and yep! I can't play a single tune😎 instruments are sooooooo hard to learn, you must be very brainy and talented ❤ gives you a giant tiny hug ❤

Whoooaaa you've been playing for so long.. You'll be amazing at it! I love the Piano Bluey, it's a beautiful beautiful instrument.. Any song when played on a piano turns into a heavenly piece of music. No matter what it is... And the fact that you have that magic to turn songs into heavenly pieces is soo awesomee😍

Say "hi" to your new fan Arroww😏(I'll head your newly formed fan's association😁)

And buddy, what are those piano pedals for? I've seen three of them underneath, but never quite understood what they're for

@CompassionateArrow lol thanks arrowey.

the piano pedals....there are three of them.

the right pedal ( my favourite one) : is used to sustain all the notes. Whatever notes you are playing at the time you press the sustain pedal will be held out and reverberate until you let up on the pedal

middle pedal : is more like muting the piano..it gives a little base sound (it uses the a piece of cloth to prevent the hammer directly hitting the strings.)

left pedal : i haven't really used it..but it's for making the sound softer.

Ohhh, that's pretty cool I've actually been wanting to learn to play the piano at my school. Was it hard to learn? What helps you memorize your pieces?

@BlueRivercares what is your favourite thing about playing the piano?

@sadcat13 one thing i like about piano is that you can give the vocal notes as well as the rhythm..using both your hands. Other instruments can do it..but i find it natural in piano :)

*** cool… I’ve always desired to learn how to play the piano. It’s quite fun when you get to try.

My son is really good and self-taught.

Yeah, he says it’s calming…. I noticed he always seemed to “zone-out” when he plays. It’s like he just tunes out the rest of the world and is in a world all his own!

Do you ever feel like that when you play?

@BlueRivercares Hi, Blue! Nice to meet you! I love singing. What advice would you give someone who wants to learn to make harmonies on the keyboard to accompany the melodies of their original songs, which they created acapella,when they haven't studied music theory formally? I would deeply appreciate any tips you can share. Wishing you a great day or night whenever you read this. 🎶🙏

@SakuraHikari

It's wonderful that you love singing and want to explore harmonies on the keyboard for your original songs. Even without formal music theory training, there are several things you can do to create harmonies:

Start by playing chords on the keyboard that complement the melody of your song. Simple triads (three-note chords) can work well for this purpose.Learn some basic chord progressions. Experiment with moving between different chords until you find combinations that sound good with your melody.
    Trust your ears and experiment with different harmonies by playing additional notes that sound good to you.    Try singing harmonies along with your melody to see what feels natural and adds depth to the sound.

what was the most emotional you've been while playing the piano, and why?

1 reply
User Profile: BlueRivercares
BlueRivercares OP January 24th
@Vex444 most emotional...hmm that's an interesting one maybe a piece called "Sarah" by peter-horas.

the composer said this "Hello. Thanks for the compliment. Sarah was an exchange student from Australia. She was with us from December 2001 to January 2002. At this time she was about 17 years old and she never had seen snow before. At Christmas she felt a bit homesick, so I wrote this music for her as a present." this explanation by the composer made me play it differently..so i think this is my most felt song :).
