Weekly sharing of Goals! Week #42 2024 (Monday 10/21/24 - Sunday 10/27/24)
I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.
But importantly, talk about getting it done..... or why it didn't happen yet.
To praise each other for our efforts and wins.
While supporting each other through trials and setbacks.
And to continue trying and not give up.
Remember:
Every Goal should be considered "Worthy".
Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments!
Whether they be Complex or Simple.
Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say!
Share your goals today, for support and encouragement.

@IsayUncle
I'm sitting here admiring how many names have been added to this list. Remembering when it was just you, and how amazing it is now to see so many involved, giving and getting support with setting and achieving goals as well as the journey of working toward goals. It makes my heart warm this morning as I think back on when I started reading this thread many moons ago.
I just want to let you know how inspiring you are, and how much you bring here. How many lives you touch each week. Thank you for your gift of you to the rest of us. In the midst of living life as it comes at you, through the good times and the struggles, thank you for being real and doing life with us.
I've needed to redirect my time from curriculum writing (finished what I've needed to do or step away from what can wait) to grant proposal writing. So my goal this week is to finish writing 1 and get it sent off.
@KristenHR
Grant proposal writing. I think that is huge, good for you.😃. I live in a small community and I got myself involved with some local tourism groups as an observer mostly not having the time to get too involved right now.
Ladies and gentlemen that are spearheading the consortium are huge into writing for grants and then implementing all the necessary steps to make them fruitful.
So I know there's a lot of information that you gotta sift and sort through dot your eyes cross your T'S, organize studies and results, etc. but it does generate some great benefits for institutions and groups. Wish you big luck on your first one. And more luck with the ones that follow.
Hey, thanks for the encouragement and support within this thread. I've always thought you've played a foundational role, thanks for that. 💚. (and still do!) 🙂
FYI, I found a procedure for my cooking and eating. I just cook in the morning for whatever I have in the fridge, and that would be for the week. I no longer cook all day long and eat while I'm cooking and dirty in dishes. So every morning I cook a little something that adds to the thing I cooked the morning before 'cause I only have a little bit of time that's why they make a salad one day and then fry up some pork chops the next morning and maybe roast some potatoes the morning after that but it all fits together to to accommodate my forever house salad that I have in the fridge.
So that's working better for me right now.... yay 😉
Have an awesome week.
I agree with everything @KristenHR said above about @IsayUncle and all he has done and is doing for this thread.....thank you.....
My goals this week are to continue with my caffeine cutback....you can follow that adventures here if you'd like
https://www.7cups.com/forum/healthyliving/FoodChoices_827/Caffeine_336966/
I also need to figure out some things with life....my last post in my 7cups journal thread looked something like this.....
"While things in life are "status quo", I am struggling to getting back into my regular routine after the last two or three weeks being busy and out of routine......life keeps throwing things in there preventing me from doing my "regular" day to day things at the times I usually do them....this has been going on for a few weeks now and I'm wondering if my universe is telling me that my "routine" needs to be changed up.....but being stubborn like I am, I want to go back to my usual, comfortable, routine that has kept me happy for years.....Things to think about moving forward....."
So this week I will contemplate what it would take for me to "change up" my daily routine and how it would effect me mentally and emotionally.....
I am also thinking about changing up my workout routine....I will try to do a couple of rough drafts of what that will look like this week and go from there.....
Have a great week everyone.....keep on crushing your goals....
@CyclingThroughLife
I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you for the compliment and encouragement on this post.
But also, thank you for everything that you contribute. You constantly try to write encouraging post and you have some of your own threads that share a common thread (pun not intentended) with others and that helps a lot. I know it's helped me a lot so I hope you keep sharing your story and posting too.
I do enjoy the bond that we all have developed. 😀
Trying to change your routine or get it streamlined, or fine tune the priorities is an ongoing process. I think it's a fantastic sign of growth and advancement. It's easy to think that the struggle never ends but we often forget, the goals ahead of us are on the the backs of the forgotten accomplishments behind us.
I hope you can attack them with vim and vinegar and feel successful about it. 👍.
And again, thanks for being an amazing part of this community, love the company.
Friday 25 Oct 2024
I am still in a slump with my routine....not quite back to normal....there is some normalcy one or two days a week but for the most part, its not my normal week by any means.....with that said, I still haven't even started to look at changing up my routine....I really just want MY normal back....not to change it up to adapt to the way my life is now making that my "normal" if that makes sense....
Moving on....I'm doing real well with the caffeine cutback.....my sleep has taken a turn for the worse, investigating possible reasons, but I'm sure it all boils down to life stress and problems.....possibly being out of my routine...lol.....what a cycle....it's all intertwined someway or another.....I'm off today and tomorrow....last two Friday or Saturdays I will be able to take off until after Christmas due to one of my team members having training.....I realized I take a lot of Friday and Saturdays off because I have the time and staff so I can.....that is a nice thing....but when you have to go back to working 5 days a week, it really stinks lol.....
I think one thing I need to add to my daily routine goals is to open the mail and pay the bills as they come in lol....I just spent 45 min opening a pile of mail, sorting through it, and paying incoming bills, from about a month of piling up, that I just toss on my desk and forget about....This NEEDS to be a priority....with that said, I thought about putting it in my phone as a reminder but.....I want to get back to using my hand written day planner/calendar/to do list because I'm more mindful and present when I actually sit and write and do the thing.....so that will also be something I will try to incorporate into my "daily routine" moving forward.....time for the planner.....
With all those things said, knowing myself, I am all full of go get em today but the first day I'm overly tired or "done" the whole thing will fall by the wayside.....it is what it is I guess....
@CyclingThroughLife
Hey honey. I'm so glad to hear about the daily routine and everything. Hope they provide help.
I got that, a lot of the times, we don't completely achieve everything on our list. And it's ok, it's not because you are not working hard enough or not trying. It happens.
Please be gentle with yourself and take care of yourself.
@Apeatrice
"a lot of the times, we don't completely achieve everything on our list. And it's ok, it's not because you are not working hard enough or not trying. It happens."
While this is a very true statement, I come from place where failure is not an option. And while I have failed many time in life at many things, it stings terribly each time I fail, because from a young age growing up, to my time in the military, to the almost 25 years I have been working in my current profession, it has been drilled into me that I need to be the better person, held to a higher standard than the average lay person, leading without showing weakness, weakness and failure aren't in our vocabulary.....I have contemplated this train of thought for a long time and I think that, now at the age of 52, I'm where I am with my mental and emotional health because I've been holding myself to that high standard for so long and I don't know how to let it go and change....In this time that we live in, mental health is in the forefront of a lot of things, in my mind, its still not ok to not be ok...at least for me.....I'm working on that and learning to change that, yet its very hard to NOT be hard on myself.....
@CyclingThroughLife
Thank you for sharing your story with us. 🥰
Friday 25 Oct
The whole mail/bills thing was a success this week....I opened the mail each day as it came in, balanced my checkbook 2 times this week, and am caught up on all my bill paying....
The paper planner/calendar isn't going so well....I've yet to pull it out, write anything down or get it started....since it is Friday, I will probably just wait and start it next week....
I should go to Milliways. Pretty sure I've done seven impossible things today. The email I sent to my work email address didn't send (checked the junk folder) so I didn't get to the assignment again. It's just as well because it took me the rest of the afternoon to move the background checks that I did last week to their two extra file locations (once I saved the PDFs of all the ones that didn't come back instantaneously last week which was over 20). Got caught up until yesterday on all states except the one that has 107 to look at every day. Got the ones on the spreadsheet that I lost. That took 2 & 1/2 hours instead of just one. Had lunch (I think). Still need to pull IDs for two customers that don't have folders.
Still have three reports to start and they're due Wednesday and about 500 of the daily reports to do. Plus I have to finish the $1M report
But naturally I have to be more productive and work harder.
Unfortunately when I checked the monthly reports before I sent the email to the supervisors, I found I missed a state. Just got done pulling the basic information so I can do background checks. Only 8 of 22 have been done before. Still have the other reports to do too. Going to have to slip breaks because it's all due tomorrow and the supervisors will start hounding me about it soon.
Still feeling tired and a little congested but no one else is going to do my work. Right now I wish I had the luxury of a restroom break. Maybe later. I've waited over an hour now. What's another 30-60 minutes?
@Enthenia
Hope everything had gone ok. Thanks for your effort and for not giving up. Even though things are so overwhelming for you.
🥰
@Apeatrice things are always overwhelming. Ran into one of the owners of one of my dog's friends and he told me he got a no cause eviction notice. He's being forced to move because he's been there a long time and the complex owner wants to renovate the space. He has no idea what he will do. It might be my turn in a month or so. I've been there a long time too. I also have no clue what to do if I get a notice I don't have the money to move or hire movers.
I'm thinking about just rebuilding the project instead of putting it on a new site. That way the links are cleaner and should reflect what I want it to look like. Still have to start and finish the next assignments. But now, I have to finish the reports for work since they're all due today.
@Enthenia
Wishing you with all my luck
@IsayUncle
My goal today:
1. Get 8 hours of sleep.
2. Read and mark 1 page Anne of green gables.
3. Finish the paper for Pluviophile.
4. Create my book list.
5. Check out the materials sent about roles of Room Supporter (Also ask if Student & Career Support is the same as Student Support
6. Finish everything on my October Daily To- do list.
''I got the eyes of the tiger, A fire, dancing through the fire.
Cos I am a champion and you are going to hear me roar.
I went from zero to my own hero.''
@IsayUncle This week will just be trying to keep the focus. The goal is a little far away but consistency is gonna help a lot. It's always there's still time until there's no time xD
@BlueDarkAurora
Yea, that's the spirit.... try to focus. (Ist that hard for you?) Do you have a hard time doing something until it's finished?
I started my own ADHD log or jounal. It's heping me a lot.
I'm thinking about starting a thread just on that.... but I'm still trying to stay focused on other things.🤔😅
Good luck. I hope you do great this week! 😀
@IsayUncle hello, hope you're having a good day ^-^
Yes, it's very easy to get distracted by all the little things and forget what's important. Sometimes circumstances or people make it difficult to focus but deep down it's truly my reactions and thoughts to situations or people that make it difficult. I've found meditation to be very helpful with that, also having positive affirmations play in the background.
Oh ADHD log/journal sounds very helpful. Mind sharing how you put things into it? And starting a thread on that sounds great! It would help so many just like your goal posts. I have posted a few goals in your threads and I've been able to get them all alright :) Maybe you do sprinkle some good luck magic in your threads.
Please don't feel the need to rush about posting a thread on that, do it when it feels right to you. You do great, helping yourself while also helping others.
Thank you for taking the time to respond so positively<3
@BlueDarkAurora
Hey, I hope you're having a good day. Sorry it took so long to reply but I am limiting my time on 7 cups.
About my ADHD journal/log.
It's pen and paper not digital because that helps make it work. Digital tends to be a distraction in itself. So on the counter I have a notebook and of course it's dated. I write my goal prominently on the page. Underneath that I write the word "distractions"
I start my task including the start time and if I have no distractions I finish the task and I put the finished time. But I always have distractions. So every time a distraction pops into my head I immediately write it down below this distraction section and I will put a big NO or a big YES beside it if it did distracted me or a NO if it did not distract me. The more NO's there are, the better I stayed focused on that task
I do this every day now. It really helps me stop wasting time by stopping / reducing my brain from going in circles and circles.
The first scrap to the left did not have the yes's and No's. Also I've now added start and end times. 😁
@IsayUncle aw thank you for sharing this <3 I'll try to do something similar, love the Yes and No thing beside the distractions.
@BlueDarkAurora
Good luck with your goals, buddy. Love your spirit. We always have a chance till the final end.
@Apeatrice I like what you said ^^ Sometimes we are so focused on how little we have left that we forget we still got enough to make it. Thanks<3 Hope you have a good day!
Fairly typical morning. One bus didn't show so I caught the next one that would get me to where I could walk up to the office (which I didn't really want to do because it's cooler and I still have stuff in my chest). When I'm 3/4 of the way there, the bus goes by. Leg hurts and chest and when I get there, a girl whom I tend to rub the wrong way is trying to get in the door. She wants me to use my badge and to me the tone is brusque. Then she accused me of being mean to her. I go to great lengths not to get in her way but naturally it's my fault
Currently trying to to get everything done that people have asked me about and if I ever get free time, I'll look at the instructions for the 7th assignment (still haven't done the 7th. Maybe the two are connected & I can do one right after the other)
@Enthenia
🫂 if ok (am sorry, can't read at the moment *headache*)
@Apeatrice it's okay. I had a headache earlier too.
Right now I'm locked out of my work computer because I forgot I had caps lock on and I'm waiting to be unlocked. Would be helpful if it said if the caps lock was on (they can do messages like that) but I don't work in IT...
I just really don't have the time to be non-productive...
Got an email about people completing assignments late (me most likely) and how they will escalate it to HR. So, no more lunches for me and I guess I'll have to start as soon as I get into the office. I could get in trouble for working off the clock but I don't know what else to do. I can't really get up earlier and I can't stay later. Someone would say something and it's not fair to the dog to keep her cooped up for over ten hours.
@Enthenia
Awwwww, it's probably not you even though you could be included 'cause everyone's late with thier paperwork. The more I learn about the company you work for the more I can guess that is just push push push and they just did that for a scare tactic to everyone. Just let that roll off your back, you work way too hard for them to make you doubt yourself. They consistently sound like greedy jerks to me.
You are absolutely a OK.
Did you ever think they're doing the same thing to the other coworkers too and that's why the other coworkers are on pins and needles and seem like they're mean. Sounds like the company you work for trying to make everyone feel inferior.
Try not to do that no more. Try not to feel inferior. You are a hard worker and you don't let anyone make you feel bad about that. I think you should learn some good old cuss words myself. 😁... and start using them, loud and proud.... Be mean if you have to and tell everyone to back off!
Or maybe you better not. I would hate for you to lose your job on my advice Oh my gosh I tell you, sometimes that's just what we need to do but we know we can't afford it. Hang in there you got this.💚
@IsayUncle I use British slang on occasion. Not out loud. I keep it all in which doesn't help things but this environment is....I don't even know the word for it. I told a coworker (over chat. She chipped a bone so she has to work from home for a bit) that we need leaders instead of bosses. If people are falling behind, instead of reporting it to a supervisor and threatening HR and write-ups, maybe see what's causing the problem especially if it's happening to more than one employee. Instead of saying it's not the leads job to track you down and inquire about the status and it's your responsibility to let them know when you're behind (I can't assess if I'm behind or not until I'm in the middle of it and by then it's too late).
Yes I'm always tense. This job does it to me (I know I am in control of how I handle things but there really doesn't seem to be a lot of options) and there's no real outlet. Again, if there were leaders instead of bosses...
Got the instructions for the 7th assignment. I thought I was further along than I was. Having trouble staying awake today. Fell asleep at random times today. Still having trouble keeping alert. Going to take the dog out to play and then hopefully work on the assignments.
I'd consider a doctor visit but no more time off for me because of my work and they aren't open after work.
@Enthenia
Don't give up. You will crest your difficulties. And then new, more uplifting oppurtunities will arise. I'm confident of that. Hang on!
Sorry #7 wasn't easy breezey for you... bummer and drats. 😥.
Do your best with the lack of rest.... but do not beat yourself up for a tired mind... instead be proud of yourself for pushing on beyond your tiredness, where many others may quit.
But more importantly, get all the good rest you can without feeling bad.... Sleep, Rest as much as possible knowing your batteries are recharging. You cannot rest well being worried.... So choose to rest when you cannot move anymore and make it be a good rest... not a wasted rest.
When you Work, you do your best.
When you Study, you do your best
When you Sleep.... Do your best, it's an important part of the formula for success.
@IsayUncle sleep is hard. And I think it's because I'm still getting over a cold. I'm not coughing as much but I'm still congested.
The dog just woke up and I really haven't done much of anything today aside from laundry and going to the store. Got more tea. Found a picture to draw but I haven't done anything academically. I did find a JavaScript app for my mobile but I should have found it before now.
I'm feeling more alert than I was three hours ago but it's dinner time now.
I am currently moving my files over to a new directory. Going to see how the pages look once I get them configured then try to get caught up with my assignments. I'm sitting in an uncomfortable chair but hopefully it will keep me alert enough. I thought I was feeling better since I woke up more alert than yesterday but I've fallen asleep at random moments already today. The dog has been out a few times and the door is open for her to go on the patio.
Cleaned the cat's boxes and vacuumed a bit. I've been more productive at home but not on the assignments. Going to see if there are some examples on the student site I use. If I can see how these next few assignments are supposed to look, that will help a lot.
At least I've got the new directory created and moved most of the files over. I have to check the first directory to make sure I've got everything moved before I delete it.
Got the directory created and deleted the old one. Sitting down now. Was standing for about an hour. Dog is probably ready to play again. I need to see if the pages have loaded correctly but I'm giving it some time to update.
Making way more progress than I have been even though I still have a lot to do. But, I'd rather deal with this than what I have to deal with at work.
@Enthenia
I don't blame you there, it's a good way to look at it! Glad to hear about the progress, that always feels good. I hope you get some good sleep this evening.😴
@IsayUncle well I'm still having some trouble with the new directory and I need to change the file entries in the code. Looked at the examples for the current *** but they weren't all that helpful.
I guess I can try to do something at work. Mondays there aren't a lot of people in the office fortunately but I still have things to finish and catch up on. Hopefully it won't take me most of the day.
