...See more What are some versions that you like, maybe even more than the original? My most noted one is "Blue Monday" by Orgy. I actually heard the original months after the cover and I did not like it.  Other covers I've liked have been: * Tainted Love - Marilyn Manson (liked the original & The Scorpions's version) * Don't You Forget About Me - Billy Idol (liked the original too) * Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm (+ original) * Ruby Tuesday - Scorpions (+ original) * The Joker - Puddle of Mudd (+ original) * Electric Avenue - Powerman 5000 (+ original) * Metro - System of a Down (+ original) I'm sure I have others but I can't think of them now.

...See more I haven't posted here in a while but something happened today which just adds to my frustration. I got lectured on paying better attention to detail because I got the digit of an ID wrong. All right but I did the report in February. It is now August and I'm getting in trouble?  Half the time I'm trying to do six things at once and I'm pretty sure my error rate is quite low. On new reports that get run I put in more details than anyone else and they want to quibble about something that was done 6 months ago?? Does anyone else have to deal with situations like this?

...See more Although she does cause frustration and loss of sleep, I don't think I'm as tense as when I got her as a gift almost a year ago. We still have at least six months to go before she fully matures but she has calmed down quite a lot. I used to feel annoyed because I didn't understand her and couldn't take her on long walks and she'd chew on a lot of things she shouldn't but I'm glad I have her.

...See more For some reason, I've been doing quite a few characters from comic strips lately. Maybe because not a lot of people know these characters. But, comic strips paved the way for comic books, animated shorts, animated films and cartoon shows  Here are some comic book/comic strip characters I've done over the past few years. How many can you recognize?

...See more I decided to go back to school because of job dissatisfaction. The company I'm with offers reimbursement for approved courses. Unfortunately, the first university I tried took two months to get the reimbursement from. So, after talking to a co-worker who was looking at programs also, I went with a university my company had an agreement with. I wanted to study data analytics but it wasn't available in the self-paced format. So, I opted for a general IT degree which would give experience with many subjects. I started in February of last year. I just submitted the last assignment for my current course and I have three more courses to go and then the final project. It hasn't been a walk in the park though. I had to rebuild a database because my hard drive died & had to get a new one. Then I had to get a new computer because something went wrong with the one that had been fixed two months prior. Then the screen on my laptop went out because something got on it but I was able to use a monitor from work and I had to get a wireless keyboard because some of the keys wouldn't respond (which was fine because I'd wanted a number pad anyway). I failed the mock Comp-tia+ one course had me take because all the acronyms confused me. Found an app that gives you practice tests and questions but I still haven't passed one (too many acronyms to keep straight). And in my current class it took me two weeks to do an assignment because I forgot to add an entry in the system directory for the computer to pull resources from  All this on top of my constant overwhelming workload at work and sporadic stress at home.  But, I got into the honors society at my university and my lowest grade so far has been a "B" so even though my current place of employment doesn't seem to believe I am making an effort and doing things correctly, I am in actuality, doing something right. I do not know what I will do once I get the degree but at least I will have more options in the future than what I currently have.

Are There Any Programming Enthusiasts

...See more First off, I can't believe there wasn't more results like this in my image search. I thought it would have been an obvious pun. Secondly, I'm not exactly an enthusiast but a student hoping to maybe run into enthusiasts willing to impart their knowledge preferably in a way I can understand. I'm on my third assignment and I'm having difficulty.  I have to design a JavaFx program that shows two images and text in a Grid pane. I've looked at my reading list and various sites and I understand how to set it up but the professor wants us to execute it using Maven. I have looked at numerous sites on this (been working on it off and on since Sunday) and I don't understand the correlation.  Like why should I use it? I generally do the code in Notepad and plug it into Any but I can't do that with this assignment. And the code looks different than what I'm used to and I'm getting errors that I don't understand.  I want to try and understand --actually I have to understand because the next assignment is more advanced. If anyone could take the time to explain or point me to a location that doesn't give vague expectations, I'd appreciate it.

...See more I don't now how many people know the 90's show "The New Red Green Show" but in one segment the local forest ranger called Ranger Gord explains how to leave a campsite. "You take the ashes from the campfire, put them back together, and rebuild the tree." This is what I have to deal with at work. I was glad that I got all my reports done early even with having the quarterly report to do, a new state to look at on my dailies, and over 65 more people to look up backround information on as opposed to the previous month. But, one person I reported on had the activity already placed on the governmental form. One supervisor asked if I was looking at previous forms. Supervisors add and extend activity at random intervals. They don't tell us peons when changes are made and the main spreadsheet they use is locked and the normal people can only look at it for a few minutes or else the supervisors get mad. I have now 140 reports to look at every day and then 23 states every month that can have no information on the reports or 40 names that need background checks plus whatever they randomly throw at me AND the quarterly reports that usually have at least a hundred names on them and all the little things they want me to remember (like saving background reports in three places) and now they want me to go back and check something I did that was altered by someone else at a random point in time. Is this not just a little unreasonable? However, I can't say anything because then I'm argumentative and after the email I got today, I wanted to. But I agreed that they were right and deleted the file in question. I sometimes get the feeling that not only am I always getting criticized for everything I do but I am also being treated like I'm inferior. It's nothing vocal but how things are phrased in emails or in Teams. But as I said, I can't say anything even if I had the time to say something otherwise I'm looking at another write-up and I have at least six classes left to do before I finish my online degree program. A coworker today said she feels like they want the staff to be robots too so it's not centralized to just me.
