[OLD THREAD] Project Achieve Your Goals - 18+
Setting goals is the easy part...reaching them can be more challenging!
Having someone support you in reaching your personal goals can be incredibly helpful. Today, wed like to announce a new community program aimed at helping you reach your goals.
Well need both listeners & members to make this happen! Here is how you can get involved in this project:
Members:
Step 1: Post a goal youd like to work towards in this thread. Be specific! Goals work great when you can make them measurable. Usually that involves a time period and a number of times. Additionally, you want to start by making goals achievable. Do not make your goals too hard or you will grow frustrated and not be able to reach them. Much better to make them easy to accomplish to build your confidence right from the start.
examples:
I want to cook dinner for myself 3 nights per week
I want to go to the gym 1 time per week
Take 3 growth path steps every day
Step 2: Specify if you'd like a listener to check in on you 1 or 2x/week.
Step 3: Wait for a listener to reply to you! They will reply and let you know they will support you reach this goal.
Step 4: PM this listener to get going! They will not be able to support you by checking in on you if you do not first PM them. If you find that a listener has not followed up, then please post again and request another listener.
Step 5: Post your progress each week in this thread and also on your feed so more people can support you in achieving your goals.
Step 6: Once you have achieved your goal and the new behavior or habit has been consistent for 21 days, then apply for the Goal 1 Badge. We'll likely have several goals, so there will be Goal 2, Goal 3 etc. (Feel free to help us come up with better names!)
Listeners:
Step 1: Wait for members to share their goals in this thread! When you see a goal/member youd like to support, reply to their forum post and let them know!
Step 2: Once this member has messaged you and established connection over PM, its your job to better understand the members goal, why its important and what you can do to best support them.
Step 3: Make a commitment! Check-in with this member twice per week and enquire about the goal!
Step 4: Let us know how you and your member are doing! In this thread, we will track your progress as team. Post here to let us know how it's going!
Step 5: After your member has reached their goal, let us know and apply for the Coach badge. More details on this soon!

I want to stop cutting... I really want to stop.. I have a goal to stay clean for this month of December especially since it around holiday which is one of the hardest times for me.. I want to stop cutting and control my constant panic attacks... But I feel bad for bothering people about it.. So if you do not want to help you do not have to <3

I have two goals that are equally important to me.
1. I'd like to exercise 5 days a week (I can't go to the gym, so treadmills and weights are out of the question), and I would like to have lost 40 pounds by July 2016.
2. I want to have the motivation to go to school and get my work done. I've been skipping out on classes lately, and it won't be long before my mother gets mad and makes me go back to school. It's difficult to get my work done, and I've recently had my favorite teacher in the world replaced with an awful teacher, so my motivation to do my work at all has gone down a drain.
I have another goal, but it is a difficult one to achieve and I can't ask it of anyone here... 3. I would like to overcome my depression, and find a permanent solution to my self-harm. I've been depressed since I was 11, and I am 15 now. This needs to stop, before it can get much worse.
You know what..? I have so many goals, it's unbelievable. I've thought of a 4th goal, which is to eat right and be able to sleep at night (I have insomnia). A listener can decide which ones they might be interested in talking to me about, and I'm sure not all of these can be tackled at once.

@lavendersab Oh, I wish I could, but I am a teenager. I don't know if I'd be able to. I even said in my post that I was 15. Sorry :(
@JustAShadow I must have read so fast in excitement. :) no I can not do this with you. But I can encourage you now to keep your eyes forward, and believe in yourself. you can do anything you put your mind to do.

@JustAShadow hey! I'm Marie and I'm so excited to write you this answer! I'm currently starting to exercising again & I'm trainer for kids & teens as well. But we have to talk about this 5 days a week thing, that's not healthy at all or really helps if you're not on your top and something like top athlete. I understand you that you want to give everything at once when you're motivated - but it doesn't help at all, it's a slowly and hard process! I'd really love to motivate you for school as well - as I really understand having the worst teachers and people around. But trust me: it's all about you & if you'd focus, you'll achieve your dreams - for the life after school. A friend is skipping classes once in a while as well and I always encourage her to stay - I'm a professional! As you said - i'm not professional but I do understand you. I might not change your completly life but I'd love to share some positive vibes with you. I'd like to ask yourself questions, question after question and I'm sure thinking about it will improve your situation!:)
As I saw: you're having quite a lot of goals - let me suggest you one more goal: selfcare yourself. It might be wrong or not but you seem like you're trying to change yourself completely to maybe fit into societies expectations or to avoid some problems. We never can be perfect and we won't ever be - let's think about the suggestion, to accept yourself, alright? It's just part of the progress to accept yourself. I promise you I won't judge you and I'm here for you! We might need to care about the times if we'd have live sessions as I live in Europe and it's EST+6 hours here - but that doesn't has ti be a problem!
Don't worry, there's magic somewhere - we just have to keep going until we find our own "magic".
@Wanderlustig Thank you for your response. I'll be sure to message you. But, the time zones shouldn't be too much of a bother. I stay up really late. Sometimes, I don't sleep for days. I'll likely be around. If not, I'm okay with sending messages back and forth whenever we get the chance.

I want to get my Christmas cards out on time. Ideally, one week before the recommended cute off date set by Canada Post or even earlier! and that gives me some flex time with bad days for getting to the post office.
Having a listener check in with me 1/week is probably good for now, maybe 2x/week as we get closer to the cutoff date. Checking that date is a step towards meeting the goal!

I love this idea so much. But i donnow how well it can work with me. As I'm very sensitive and I'm always a disappointment so listner have to expect that i will disappoint them and please don't blame me. And sice i think i may disappoint u already please think well b4 offering me help :)
My goal for now is 2 walk 3 times a week at least for 30 - 45 mints.
and to journal my thoughts and keep visiting my therapist once a week.

My goal is to get out of bed in the mornings at a reasonable time, at around 9am. I'm fed up of struggling to get up and face the world and staying in bed til the afternoon.
@Peaceandlotus would having a listener, or someone push you help, in any way? If so I would love to help you in any way, shape or form. Just let me know.

@calmSummerPax I'm afraid but I can't listen to you as I'm not on the adult site yet. But I want to wish you all the best and give you a little inspiration, that might help you. Nothing really helped for me, not even the best clinics or docs - but finally I found help by writing. It was kind of a diary but more like a biography and I tried to figure out why all this happened and why I got into this - and while writing I saw the way of my thinking. And I was shocked about myself and time after time I healed myself better than any Therapist could do - it was my inner will. Just remember: it's all about your inner will. If your brain feels like doing this but on the other hand you feel like the opposite would be right by society's opinion (the real one, the opinion of people who worry about it) than start fighting to give your best by doing the opposite which is right and food for your health. It's a hard war but you are strong - you are alive. I hope your achieving your goal and wish you all the best:) - it's a real pity that you can't contact me, but I hope that doesn't change your inner wish for your own change into health:)

A goal I want to set and acomplish is to stop always over thinking situations with negetive results,be motivated to get out of bed and try to enjoy the things i use to before.
