Coping skills for low self-esteem
"For me, building self-esteem was learning what self-esteem was in the first place. It was unlearning what I had learned about myself . I went back to self-school and learned all about me."
Hello Community!I do hope each of you are as best as you can be. Today we are going to talk on Coping skills on Self Esteem Toolbox. Yep a toolbox as we all need that very special box filled with all the things that will help us with empowering our self esteem.
First what is self esteem? Self-esteem is how we value and perceive ourselves. It's based on our opinions and beliefs about ourselves, which can sometimes feel really difficult to change.
Self Esteem can affect many things like: value yourself as a person, able to make decisions and assert yourself, recognise your strengths and positives, feel able to try new or difficult things, show kindness towards yourself, move past mistakes without blaming yourself unfairly, take the time you need for yourself, believe you matter and, are good enough, believe you deserve happiness.
Self Esteem can affect so many important things in our lives. We need our Toolbox handy. What is this toolbox thing ? This can be a bag of things, a simple sheet of paper with positive things to coach yourself with, a favorite snack. This toolbox can hold anything you like to help you. It is something so handy that when you are feeling low- you can reach out to something soothing or some simple skills.
Discussion:
1. How do you desribe what Self-Esteem is?
2. What kinds of things do you have in your "toolbox" to help yourself?
3. Is there any positive affirmations that you tell yourself?

Self esteem to me is the belief you have in yourself.
2. What kinds of things do you have in your "toolbox" to help yourself?
To help myself, I have to try keeping myself sane as when I feel low, I get frustrated on myself and may lose reasoning through hot tears. So i try calming my body and repeat to myself that I can pull through and it will get better.
3. Is there any positive affirmations that you tell yourself?
I can do it and get through this.
1. How do you desribe what Self-Esteem is?
Self esteem to me is how I think, feel and treat myself. It is (trying) to see myself in the light I see others. Appreciating and respecting the person I am and the things I have gone through.
2. What kinds of things do you have in your "toolbox" to help yourself?
I have a list of my achievements; some big, some small. These help me when I have Negative Automatic Thoughts (NATs) about being a failure, or that I'm incapable or not good enough.
I also have a daily basics checklist for when I am having a tough day! This includes small tasks with every one I tick off, it is a small win / success for that day! Things like: Got out of bed, 1 act of Self-care, Spent time with my cats, Ate a healthy meal, Did 1 cleaning job, Took a moment to breathe... etc.
3. Is there any positive affirmations that you tell yourself?
"I am unique", "I have strength", "I care", "I am skillful" "I have determination" "I am allowed to feel down sometimes", "I have worth"
