Hello Leadership Crew!
I am having a blast with you all. This leadership program is a lot of fun and Im glad we are doing it. I think itll help across many fronts. Shout out to @aleks2 and @quietmagic for their help looking at the first batch of results on our leadership composition. ÃÂ
Here is a summary:
Here is a summary from @quietmagic on what our collective - all of us together - strengths and weaknesses might be:
Leadership Crew Strengths:
Altruism/motivation: Having a deep passion for helping people that drives all we do and creates a feeling of purpose and meaning
Idealism: Having inspiring dreams and visions of just how unbelievably powerful and beneficial this site can be: imagining all of the good we might be able to create, all of the suffering we might be able to help heal
Kindness: Being able to create a kind, cooperative, culture that is gentle and considerate with people's feelings
Compassion: Being able to understand, connect with, and feel an urgency to resolve the needs, concerns, or problems of the people that we serve
Relationship: Feeling a yearning for deep, meaningful connections with others, creating a community where people are able to be authentic and feel a sense of belongingness
Leadership Crew Weaknesses
Practical implementation: Developing and optimizing systems, managing the fine details for concretely achieving our broad goals
Risk-taking: Being willing to take risks or make drastic changes to existing systems/practices where needed
The above analysis feels/seems right to me. This new leadership program in fact can be seen as one way that we are attempting to address a growth area by optimizing our leadership systems! And, zooming back, if there was going to be a team of people that was going to try to pull off the impossible (a free emotional support system), then I think itd be with the leadership composition described above under strengths. Itll take a lot of optimism and kindness to make this a reality!
Okay, lets transition to the next exercise and discussion.
Begin by taking the Big 5 test and answering the following questions. You can also read more on the Big 5 here ÃÂ and below.
1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?
3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?
4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?
After fulfilling the requirements of this post, please check out the next post here! You must take part in the brainstorming/activities given in all of these posts to successfully complete the program.

That main things I learnt are :
-That I don't take tension despite being in tense situation.
-That I am very well organised, even though my desk and books are kept in a mess.
-That I breakdown or get angry when the situations are tensed, but the test tells that I am calm.
2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?
-Sociable
-Creative
-Original
3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?
In my personal life, I am a very sociable person who tends to work on many projects. Thus, these strengths will help me in being more creative and original with my ideas.
4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?
The strengths identified can help me when talking to members as I am sociable and I will be original when it comes to finding what to say to console the members.
Open-Mindedness
High scorers tend to be original, creative, curious, complex
You enjoy having novel experiences and seeing things in new ways.
my comment about this: I would definitely agree with this! I like to think of myself as a very open minded person :)
Conscientiousness
Low scorers tend to be disorganized, undependable, negligent.
You probably have a messy desk!
my comment about this: well reading the comment about the desk made me cackle because when I look to my left my desk is so packed high with junk that you actually couldn't put anything on it without knocking piles over! I'm a really disorganised and messy person! I like tje idea of being organised but living like it is an odd concept to me! Much to my dismay, i can be quite a negligent person so I'd probably agree with this.
Extraversion
High scorers tend to be sociable, friendly, fun loving, talkative; Low scorers tend to be introverted, reserved, inhibited, quiet.
You are neither particularly social or reserved.
my comment about this: this kinda shocked me because I considered myself really introverted because of my social anxiety but I can also be quite extroverted when not anxiety isn't bad so perhaps when my anxiety isn't affecting me, my true personality is like this!
Agreeableness
Low scorers tend to be critical, rude, harsh, callous.
You find it easy to criticize others.
my comment about this: now this seems incredibly negative to get as a test result however i do know it to be true. I have a terrible habit of criticising others, especially in situations where my own stubbornness comes into play in things like discussions and debates which often makes me come across as rude etc. I rarely say things solely with the intent of hurting someone's opinions but I do find I value my own expression of opinion over the feelings of someone else and acknowledging this and the things people have said to me about me being quite harsh has enabled me to start working on bettering it.
Negative Emotionality
High scorers tend to be nervous, high-strung, insecure, worrying; Low scorers tend to be calm, relaxed, secure, hardy.
You tend to become anxious or nervous.
my comment about this: I definitely agree with this. I do struggle with anxiety as a disorder so when certain situations happen, it ofc triggers my anxiety but I've definitely gotten better over the years and I consider that an important contribution to becoming a strength vs a weakness
1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
the new things I learnt about myself was im actually less introverted than I thought. I presumed I'd be strictly to the left which shocked me a bit!
2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?
my strengths with this test are probably the strengths that come more so from the creative aspect of things but I'd also say that although the test says I'm incredibly critical of others, the fact that I'm able to notice that and start working on it, to me is a strength because I can only improve it through my own choice and I am doing my best to!
3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?
they help me when it comes to helping others I think! I think being open minded makes it easier to me to talk to people.
4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?
I think my good strengths help me on 7 cups because it means I'm quite easy going in tje sense of providing some support! I think in my own separate career they would help in the sense of it being quite a hardworking job. It would provide me with a lot of openness about the news things that arise especially with it being a flexible career.
@GlenM
1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
I again was rated as highly extroverted, in fact I rated the highest as Extraverted. I wasn't expecting this and reflecting back now, I can see how I would be considered more extravert than introvert and hope to embrace this quality of myslef a little more in the future and in the leadership role I am training for.
2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?
According to this test I am mainly Open-Minded, Extraverted, and Conscientious. Which is super cool!
3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?
Both tests offered me similar results and information, so I think it has l=highlighted to me my natural strengths and abilities I can use to help make the world a little better.
4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?
I think the open-mindedness and extraversion highlighted in both tests will make me a better Leader in 7Cups and in my furure career as I will be able to take charge and engage with those around me; I will not have a prblem jumping in to help or offer advice when asked. I also will be open and caring for those around me and I feel that is vital when talking about a leader - they need to be flexible and willing to accept new things and ideas.
@GlenM
What were the main things you learned about yourself? -
I learnt that I share the same personality type as many poets, writers, and actors. I'm a dreamer and an idealist
I also wondered why I always had to put everyone else above myself and help despite any detriment to myself. I learnt that this is because of my personality type and my kindness and generousity to help others no matter what.
Also I learnt that I am actually much more open-minded than I had previously thought.
What are your top 3 strengths according to this test? -
Open-Mindedness, Conscientiousness, and Organization & reliability
How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?
Firstly, I can stop looking at my kindness as a weakness as I always perceived it to be - I can now confidently help others whilst knowing that is actually a great strength to give help without needing any kind of recognition or benefit.
Knowing now that my traits are actually strengths, I can grow into a much more positive person with new abilities to better myself and others.
I can engage much better with others because I know that I am being nothing but kind, and using my open-mindness to help anyone despite and opinions I may have on ther experiences or actions.
How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?
I can use my creativity to think of new ways of engaging with my peers to provide even more support to those who may need it
I can use my organization to keep track of multiple projects I may be involved in easily, and still be able to fulfill my role as a listener
My loyalty and strong passion will allow me to remain dedicated to 7cups through any barriers and I will always strive to better myself and others at all times
Thanks all.
@GlenM
What were the main things you learned about yourself?
I am highly open-minded, extroverted, conscientious, and agreeable. I can't say I learned anything that I wasn't already aware of. However, I did find the conscientiousness surprising since I tend to be a bit messy. Other than that, all factors are pretty accurate.
2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?
1. Agreeability
2. Open-mindedness
3. Extraverted
3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?
Being aware of my strengths and weakness can help me come up with an efficient strategy to deal with any issues in my personal life. Polishing my strengths and managing my weaknesses would make me more confident and successful.
4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?
Exercising my open-mindedness, agreeability, and social skills to interact with the community to create a safe space while also polishing my leadership skills would help me as a leader at 7 Cups, and in my career later on.
@gigantCloud92 sorry to ask, but what would you call your top 3 weaknesses and how would you manage them?
I would strongly prefer to be more extroverted, more agreeable and less negative and more conscientious but unfortunately I am full of weaknesses and have not many strengths.
According to this test -
You probably have a messy desk - Can't argue with that. I have the worst desks
You prefer traditional and familiar experiences - This is something I feel is the opposite of me. I have done many things which are new and opposite of traditional experiences. I actually used to think that it is a character of mine that I admire.
You are neither particularly social or reserved- I tend to be social with people I am comfortable with and with anyone else I tend to limit my interactions.
You tend to consider the feelings of other
You aren't particularly nervous, nor calm - I tend to be very calm in many situations but in many situations my panic is unbearable.
I feel the strengths I learnt and will definitely use in my personal life is being more thoughtful. I do try to consider others feelings many times, but sometimes my emotions get the best of me. Also I must use my creativity more.
In 7 cups and personal life I feel this will help me better assess a situation and give myself confidence that I can do things and trusting myself to take a creative approach.
@wonderfulKermitKaTy you are like somewhere at the middle? how it feels?
In my opinion, I'm too much at sides I wouldn't like to be, but that's life and I have to find my strengths and grow them, build on them.
@windSpirit yes building on your strengths is a great and important thing. I feel as someone in the middle and social life and private life has a very distinct and strong separating line. I don't know how exactly but I feel that way.
The thing I learnt about myself is that I have a balance of my social and private life and I tend to be understanding.
1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
I'm a bit not open-minded. I'm a messy person, full of criticism and too negative about myself. I'm also so much a quiet person.
2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?
Open-minded, trying to seek opportunities anyway. If I do things I do them with my full attention, passion and enthusiasm. I'm not too optimistic, should see thing as more realististic, hope not too negative, so I'm taking risks carefully.
3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?
I wouldn't give up completely. I keep trying to resolve my problems at any cost. I keep doing things anyway. And I found I should be less critisizing and more positive with myself.
4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?
I find any help just to resolve a problem if needed. My honesty help me to get along with people. Objectiveness and open mind help to resolve problems with less pain and less losses and create something new to serve and support others.
@GlenM
I learned that I'm rather high-strung, irritable, introverted, and open-minded. However, no matter how angry I might get, I never show it, so to others I am quite an agreeable person. The strengths I identified on both test can help me in my personal life, because it'll help me trust my ideas more, and it might lessen my self-doubt.
