Hello Leadership Crew!

I am having a blast with you all. This leadership program is a lot of fun and Im glad we are doing it. I think itll help across many fronts. Shout out to @aleks2 and @quietmagic for their help looking at the first batch of results on our leadership composition. ÃÂ

Here is a summary:

zIJtYFhsT176H3HLbLj6r3sKUo-Ru8swR4o1QUYkGs94i_8U719UfL1Z2MZoZlqsrAGJJTDxvuwFaV0BMwAMvBtABkLhUNYh2UWdI5yMoD4AC5zfx1fzNJhBspbOrQlLUIS90VeF

Here is a summary from @quietmagic on what our collective - all of us together - strengths and weaknesses might be:

Leadership Crew Strengths:

Altruism/motivation: Having a deep passion for helping people that drives all we do and creates a feeling of purpose and meaning

Idealism: Having inspiring dreams and visions of just how unbelievably powerful and beneficial this site can be: imagining all of the good we might be able to create, all of the suffering we might be able to help heal

Kindness: Being able to create a kind, cooperative, culture that is gentle and considerate with people's feelings

Compassion: Being able to understand, connect with, and feel an urgency to resolve the needs, concerns, or problems of the people that we serve

Relationship: Feeling a yearning for deep, meaningful connections with others, creating a community where people are able to be authentic and feel a sense of belongingness

Leadership Crew Weaknesses

Practical implementation: Developing and optimizing systems, managing the fine details for concretely achieving our broad goals

Risk-taking: Being willing to take risks or make drastic changes to existing systems/practices where needed

The above analysis feels/seems right to me. This new leadership program in fact can be seen as one way that we are attempting to address a growth area by optimizing our leadership systems! And, zooming back, if there was going to be a team of people that was going to try to pull off the impossible (a free emotional support system), then I think itd be with the leadership composition described above under strengths. Itll take a lot of optimism and kindness to make this a reality!

Okay, lets transition to the next exercise and discussion.

Begin by taking the Big 5 test and answering the following questions. You can also read more on the Big 5 here ÃÂ and below.

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

Open-Mindedness: You enjoy having novel experiences and seeing things in new ways. (My percentile: 93)

Conscientiousness: You are very well-organized, and can be relied upon. (My percentile: 99)

Extraversion: You are extremely outgoing, social, and energetic. (My percentile: 99)

Agreeableness: You are good-natured, courteous, and supportive. (My percentile: 99)

Negative Emotionality: You probably remain calm, even in tense situations. (My percentile: 13)

What were the main things you learned about yourself?

I think the only new thing I learned about myself was that I am generally considered Extrovert and outgoing. I always thought myself as someone who is ambivert. The rest of things indicated in the results of this test are more or less in the line with my original perception of myself. I think knowing this aspect about myself I would be more confident in social situations. I would take advantage of my ability while being conscious of any risks associated with it.

What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

My top 3 strengths according to this test are my ability to stay well organized. I scored a 99 percentile on this parameter which means I tend to stay organize almost all the time. Second would be my agreeableness. I think this is the validation for my time here. I think I have learned a lot and personally shown a lot of growth in this aspect. Third would be low negative emotionality meaning I stay calm and focused under pressure situations. I think that has helped me throughout my life and I would still continue to work on it.

How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

I think being aware of my strengths on its own will help me. It will tell me what I can excel at and what I need to work on. I think knowing that I stay calm under pressure I would start to take more activities which I earlier used to avoid not knowing how I would do on it. Also knowing I am more of an extrovert, would help me in certain social situation in which I usually felt anxious. I think the best part of this test is knowing where you belong on the scale. It helps to better understand yourself, reassure the things you suspected about yourself, and also shows you the areas which were in the dark.

How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

I think knowing that I am more agreeable is something that is an advantage but can be disadvantage also in any leadership role. I think I would work on being more assertive. On the whole I think most of things I came to know are positive and would help me shape into becoming a better leader on and off the site.

@GlenM

I don’t feel as if I learned much about myself. Based on my results it really doesn’t sound like me, especially when compared with the last personality test.

Open minded, introvert and, agreeableness

In my personal life I think my strengths can help me to be supportive and understanding to my friends and family. The other test told me that I am generous, open minded and thoughtful. I think that these are important skills when it comes to being there for loved ones.

I think as a listener it is important to be open minded. Members come on here to tell you what is on their mind and that could be anything. If you act in a judgemental way that could easily lead them to not use the site anymore. I think in a leadership role it would be helpful for almost anything 7-cups has to offer. In peer support which is what I am working towards in my professional life being generous, open-minded and thoughtful will help for understanding and relating to others in a non-judgemental way.

First of all, the job I perform and love is creative, needs exploration and deep observation and according to the results, I have that creativity trait in myself.
Secondly, I love performing music and that also corresponds to a deep-thinking ability and solitude loving trait that according to the test results, I have inside me. Earlier I used to think that it’s the Music which recharges me. But indeed, it wasn’t the music alone it was the solitude which did too.

@GlenM

I learned a lot new things about myself, my traits and areas to improve upon.

My new strengths that are discovered were - considerable abour others' feelings, solitude and careful about decisions.

The results I gained through both the tests is really helpful as it gave me a detailed description about my personality traits through which I can improve.

The traits such as to empathize, loyalty, open-mindedness and thoughtfulnes will help me become not just a better leader but also a person as people can approach without being afraid that I might be banal or inconsiderate of their issues.

thank you!

Alwaysthereforyou28 October 11th, 2020

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
- I prefer traditional and familiar experiences. I'm neither disorganized nor organized. I enjoy spending quiet time alone. I find it easy to express iritation with others and I tend to be anxious / nervous.
2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?
Although these may seem like weaknesses, they can also be strengths in certain situations as well.
- Traditional & familiar experiences
- Spending time alone
- Nervous / High-Strung
3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?
- Traditional & familiar experiences: Allows me to adhere to rules and relying on traditional methods prevents me from taking dangerous risks in certain situations.
- Spending time alone: Builds my independence and if I'm sad, being alone provides me with the opportunity to get through my difficulties by myself instead of relying heavily on others.
- Nervous / High-Strung: Can be a strength b/c sometimes, a little bit of nervousness is what gets a person to be more alert and careful about surroundings. E.g. driving with a little bit of fear can help me to be more alert.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?
All these "strengths" can help me realize how I can become a more positive and open-minded person overall. They give me the experience of knowing how it feels to be this person and hence, I'm able to help other people who have similar personalities as well as they remind me of myself. As a student, these "strengths" can also help me to better understand who I am and thus, I can improve myself and understand what works for me if I face certain situations e.g. I tend to be nervous in different situations, so by finding methods to conquer my anxiety, I'm able to display a better me everyday.

@GlenM

On Open-Mindedness I scored at the 73rd percentile, meaning that I am relatively open to new experiences.

On Conscientiousness I scored at the 80th percentile, meaning that I am very well-organized, and can be relied upon.

On Extraversion I scored at the 60th percentile, meaning that I am relatively social and enjoy the company of others.

On Agreeableness I scored at the 57th percentile, meaning that I am neither extremely forgiving nor irritable.

Lastly, on Negative Emotionality I scored at the 69th percentile, meaning that I tend to become anxious or nervous.

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

After taking this test, I could conform to many ideas I had about my personality. for example, openness to experience. I do have a general appreciation for art, emotions, adventure, unusual ideas, imagination, curiosity, and a variety of experiences. As seen in my MBTI results, I love sharing my knowledge and experiences with other people and similarly love listening about others' experiences and knowledge. I am always ready to learn new things and work to attain self-actualization. I am also more aware of my feelings and emotions and accept them as they come.

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

My top three strengths would be those I got the highest percentiles on. This include:1. Conscientiousness, which is a tendency to display self-discipline, act dutifully, and strive for achievement against measures or outside expectations. This also shows that I am organized and reliable.
2. Open-Mindedness, which means I enjoy new experiences and am insightful, imaginative, and have a wide variety of interests. I think this is really important since it will help me develop new skills, knowledge, and experiences.
3. Negative Emotionality, which is also known as Neuroticism or Emotional Stability. Individuals with high negative emotionality are generally more soothing, supportive, and creative (Brenner,2018).

One thing I would like to add in this is when I compare my scores for this trait from this test I took before the pandemic (i.e. September 2019). My neuroticism score was very low and I wonder if this has a role to play in the increase :/

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?
In my personal life, the strengths that have identified on both tests enable me to be more empathic and kind to everyone. Since I also learned a lot about myself, I can confidently apply those to my daily life and become a better version of myself.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

On 7 cups, my strengths can help me put my best effort and work together with others to develop the site and help as many people as I can to have a better life experience. Similarly, it can be related to my career, which also is helping people :)

~My Results~

Open-Mindedness 77%

You are relatively open to new experiences.

Conscientiousness 68%

High scorers tend to be reliable, well-organized, self-disciplined, careful; Low scorers tend to be disorganized, undependable, negligent.

You are well-organized, and are reliable.

Extraversion 77%

High scorers tend to be sociable, friendly, fun loving, talkative; Low scorers tend to be introverted, reserved, inhibited, quiet.

You are relatively social and enjoy the company of others.

Agreeableness 56%

High scorers tend to be good natured, sympathetic, forgiving, courteous; Low scorers tend to be critical, rude, harsh, callous.

You are neither extremely forgiving nor irritable.

Negative Emotionality 73%

High scorers tend to be nervous, high-strung, insecure, worrying; Low scorers tend to be calm, relaxed, secure, hardy.

You tend to become anxious or nervous.

1. I learned that although I get stressed relatively easily, this doesn't hold me back because I manage to organize things

with calmness and responsibility, overcome my fears to take the chances, and cope with the problems because of my

openness and that I can cooperate and communicate well with others to achieve the best results but in a professional,

polite and respectful way without being too forgiving nor too distant.

2. My top three strengths seem to be that I'm open-minded, conscious and extroverted. These were my higher scores

along with negativity, but it seems that my other skills help to overcome my worries. The fact that I manage to socialize

and cooperate with others, I'm open to new experiences, organized and reliable help me to achieve my goals.

3. The fact that I find it easy to communicate with others makes me agreeable and congenial. I enjoy helping others and

the fact that they may be counting on me constitutes a motive to me. I do not forgive others easily because my experience

proved that trust should be earned. My consciousness makes me reliable because I manage to organize my thoughts and

take the right decisions. I have been very open-minded in my life and I have always been excited to challenge myself and

live new experiences although I may be afraid and anxious sometimes and I believe that these experiences help me to

slowly overcome my fears. The tests' results are similar and related, so I managed to understand myself a little better and

appreciate my skills more.

4. In leadership, it's useful to be able to communicate and there's the need to be polite, friendly and cooperative in order

to help others feel comfortable to share and work as a team with fellow listeners. This was really useful for me in group

support / sharing circles as well as peer supporting fellow listeners. It is important to be reliable and consistent in

appointments, as well as approachable and understanding, especially with new members. The ability to organize is

important in discussions and creative exercises as well in 7cups' projects like the internship and the leadership program

as well as helping other listeners achieve their goals in some leadership roles. Positivity is the most important of all, as the

path may be challenging but at the end it's worthy!
