Great Leadership, unsurprisingly, starts with yourself!
Practice what you preach. Lead by example. I am sure all of you heard these phrases. But why are they so iconic?
Because the journey starts with the first step and you are the person who is taking the initiative to lead -- Start a journey! So, you are the one who needs to take the first step before expecting others to do it.
To start with leading yourself, close your eyes and visualize two people: someone who inspired and encouraged you to be like them, and someone who discouraged you to be not like them.
Then, write down the good qualities of the person who inspired you as well as the qualities of the second person. You do not have to be specific with the details. Just a bulleted list.
Now, compare the list to yourself. Note the good qualities you have, the bad qualities you have, and give yourself a rating on a scale of 1-10. What we just did is identified your strengths and weaknesses and what you need in order to lead yourself. This allows you to create self-awareness.
Self-awareness is key to leading yourself in the right direction. But, leading yourself is not easy. Just being self-aware isn't enough. It's igniting the spark but not enough to catch the fire. To catch the fire, you need to be persistent with your practice, which is regular reflection. Be consistent with monitoring your efforts and holding yourself accountable.
You can't effectively lead others until you know how to lead yourself. That happens through Self-Observant Leadership: when you deeply understand your identity, compare it to your reputation (how others experience you) and then make meaning of the observations, and choose to adapt.

I'm bad at time management and sometimes can have an unrealistic goal. I think I need to prioritize my tasks, set a good time table and do it whenever I can. Always do a reality check and asking others for advice if I think the work is overflow.
@dancingMoment7201
Time management seems to be a very common yet very important area of improvement. You got this. All the best :)
@Heather225
One area where I am scored low on my self awareness check in is managing time and what I will do to improve is to schedule my time better.
@kateaala
Thats something ive always struggled listing out things to do can help!!

I would say taking in resposiblities than i can handle. This is something ive always done in rl as well as in here. After a while things get a little to overwheming and its often so hard to let go of things. Something ive learned so far is that for the greater good its aways best to take in what you can and to realise that its okay to let go of things.
@Magicallykermit58
I can relate! Very good point noted. All the best :)

I had trouble as to which one in specific I scored lower in, so I am going to highlight two areas I scored low on: too flexible and lack of confidence.
Too flexible and detail-oriented. As mentioned in discussion 2 as well, I find that I am often too flexible in terms of work. I am the kind of person that is very detail-oriented and punctual about everything, and it sometimes show in all my work, which is a good thing (although being as detail-oriented as I am, I spend way too much time than needed on everything, but putting that aside). Because I am detail-oriented, I always like checking in with people and making sure that everything is going well, which sounds like a good thing, but it becomes frustrating when things aren't done well or on time. And my response to it? Inside my head, I am frustrated, but on the outside, I am a very flexible person, and I usually just let it off by emphasizing with their work. Every time I let it off, it becomes a huge cycle of not-well-done-work and my poor mental health too ahaha. I started to realize a while ago that being flexible is good, but as a leader, being too flexible is obviously not good either, so this is one of the main areas I scored low in.
Lack of confidence. I think this comes with my insecurities, overthinking, and everything else, and confidence is just something I am lacking I suppose. I'm overall not a very confident person in general; I often question my own abilities, my ideas, and basically everything. It becomes a huge problem when I am not efficient enough because I am not confident in my work, and I am naturally an indecisive person, so this was definitely another area I scored low in.
What is one thing you will do to improve?
To address both issues, I am trying to let go of small details, be more direct and firm about anything that I need to say, being more decisive by not thinking too much about every single action I take, and think of the positives of my work to perhaps increase my confidence of them!
One area that I scored low on was the issue about managin things so that each task is taken care of. This mostly from the fact that my mind is moving around so much that I can't focus on one thing. One way that I can improve on this is using a planner to make sure that tasks are gettign done.
@Asherwolfice Using a planner is a good idea!
I need to improve upon recognising the impact I potentially have on others in everything I do, this includes both being more confident in my own abilities as well as taking responsibility and recognising my own faults.
@SophieWX I like how you are recognizing the positive connected with that impact as well as the need to take resonsibility.

One of the area I scored low is procrastination.
I realize that sometimes I have tendency to be a perfectionist and this makes me to delay in taking decision and action. This fuel procrastination of activities which is not good enough.
There's need for me to work on this and improve in my approach to things.

An area that I scored myself low on was adaptability. Although I’m happy with change, especially when it’s a positive change, I do struggle with adapting to change. To improve on this, when there is change, I could discuss any of my concerns or feelings with the group to ease any doubts there may be.
@bookworm274 Adapting with change can be tough, I hope talking it out can help.
Patience, I think due to the number of times I have dealt with ignorance and outright ineptess at times when it has come to life threatening situations that getting a better understanding of what's going on with my body is something that will help with that. I've been working on sorting out diagnoses and related info for quite a while.
@AffyAvo
Patience is an awesome skill! One I am working on as well :) I hope you get it sorted soon!
@AffyAvo
