@theriverissinging Activities or habits that drain my energy or motivation can be social drains. Hehehehhee. It can be challenging, honestly, because there are some people who give me energy, but some of them deplete it. Usually, I always use my me time to boost it🚀 Taking breaks also allow me to stay motivated, like meditation, stare at long distance for my off screen breaks, and reading books📖
What is motivation? What is energy?
Yesterday I found a daily affirmation.
"The trick is to know why it makes sense. Why it is important.
I might not feel like taking a walk or painting a picture.
I really don't feel like it, but I know it is the thing that will improve my condition.
And then I do it.
The most important thing is to start doing SOMETHING again,
because that is the start of the process that leads out of depression.
I can be exhausting. It's hard work like pushing a car.
But you do it because you know why you are doing it."
I re-started an old hobby as a Christmas gift to me.
It is good at keeping me active and going outside.
And I am going to read that affirmation more.
I believe what drains my energy is over extending myself to the point of exhaustion where i feel dissociated and depletes. What boosts my energy/motivates it is going to the gym with my fiance, spending time with my mini family and focusing on myself but also providing myself with proper self care and self love

I find it true that being on my phone a lot is very draining no matter if it’s scrolling through social media or just going through my pictures, deciding which ones to delete. I guess just staring at screens is draining for me.
I started walking more, and ironically, that gave me more energy. I want to try to walk at least 7 thousand steps a day.
what are some activities or habits that drain my energy or motivation?
Sitting around watching YouTube videos
and what are those that boost it?
Going for a bike ride
@theriverissinging Activities that drain my energy or motivation- I am an introvert so being around large groups of people for extended periods of time, drains my physical and emotional energy. This tends to be problematic with my job. Things that put me back on track- alone time. Ideally, being outside in Nature- away from the city noise and traffic. If this is not an option, just being in a quiet place with music or a book.
@NotAllHere713 Oh interesting thank you for sharing
I'm new here, but I'll respond.
Drain energy or motivation: Waking up to an alarm is miserable, talking to my husband (main reason I'm here), feeling obligated to defend myself in an argument (online or irl), trying to juggle too many activities or obligations at once
Boost it: Longboarding is the #1 thing (especially when I'm on a long trail either by myself or with a trusted friend), being away from home (camping, hotel, or visiting parents), being outdoors in nature (disc golfing, reading at the park, walking dogs, day hikes on trails)
Then there's the odd beast of teaching my classes, which seems to simultaneously boost and drain my energy and motivation :P

welcome if you need help with anything let me know

some activities in my day to day activity that drain my energy and/or motivation are doing chores or manual labor that i find tedious or repetitive. activities that boost my energy/motivation are exercising, practicing martial arts and/or playing video games!!!
This is a great thread. OP: thanks for the idea. I subscribed because I have no clue what makes me exhausted and what makes me happy anymore. So, I'm going to read what others say and see if it applies to me.
Some ideas already resonated with me. I detoriate when there is chaos in my life and things and responsibilities overwhelm me, preventing me to live to my high standards. I also go downhill when Im prevented from speaking my mind and be less than truthful. Physical activity also makes me exhausted.
Unfortunately, the things I know to do in my distress are not healthy. Emotional eating, drinking, internet browsing. I wish o had better ways to hope.
Thanks for listening and please have good ideas coming.
