had a girlscout event and at the beginning my leader stood up infrint of all of these girls and parents and she said "we have a girl among us who is genderfluid and uses they/them pronouns. You will not harass then, ridicule them, and if I hear anything about a parent saying crap about them I will make sure that you never attend one of my events again." I've had parents pour water on me and took their kids away from me and I've been spit on and prayed over for wearing a trans flag pin.
I live in the southern US and it's accepted but not really here.
I told my leader at my last meeting I don't feel safe being left alone with the parents because the last time a parent cornered me and starting like smacking me with their cross necklace and was praying and told me I was going to ***.
She made sure I was taken care of.
