@Psalm139 @IsayUncle
@IsayUncle How are you?
@Psalm139
I'm doing pretty good. I almost got my routine reined in but today was a real tester. ๐. Just one of those days I had hoped to bask in a little bit of accomplishment. Then everything I touched went south. But still feeling pretty good. The balance of nature I guess.
How about you, how's things?
@IsayUncle I'm ok too. Had my first mammogram today. It wasn't that bad.I had a bad headache the first few days cutting down on coffee but the last few have been better. I'm more tired though. I'm sure I will adjust. Just been being lazy mostly, watching tv. Trying to change what and how much I eat. Lost a little weight already I think because I can't eat a while before bed anymore. I'm hungry at night but will get used to that too. Anyway, just wanted to check in.
@Psalm139
That's too bad about the coffee. Glad the headaches eased up. It'll be worth it if your swallowing problem gets resolved (fingers crossed). I think less coffee and trying to work into a new diet is a lot of work. Resting and watching TV sounds pretty normal. Are you stressing on Christmas or looking forward to it, OR both?
I just finished "Wednesday" on Netflix and now watching the "Jack Ryan" series on amazon prime. That's good you started your mammograms, time to keep up with those. (Were you nervous?) When do you get the results?
@IsayUncle Kinda both about Christmas. I'm excited of course, but Justin's parents are coming and I've never hosted before. So that stresses me out. But it will be ok. How about you? Will you be doing anything special? You should at least buy yourself some gifts and cook some food you like if not! How was Wednesday on Netflix? I have seen it but it looked weird lol. We just watched the Watcher and Firefly lane. The Queens Gambit was also very good.
I was nervous for my mammogram. It wasn't as bad as I thought though. Pretty quick. I should have the results in a week. I'm nervous for that. But breast cancer doesn't run in my family so hopefully I'm ok.
Have you been pretty busy? How long is Christmas break for you? We are taking the whole month off.
@Psalm139
I'm just trying to stay off of everyones radar for Christmas. The hosting thing would freak me out too these days. i'm sure you'll do fine and remember... they're grandparents... Use the grandkids to keep 'em busy all day. lol. I did all my splurge buying last week so alls good there.
The good news for me is that I really have adopted a doable routine, like today, clean the floors. (1 hour). I have all the backlog of stuff up to date, now I just do when I have to and I should be good. Queens Gambit was supposed to be good, haven't seen it yet, nor those others either. Wednesday is a quirky murder, mystery, detective story with a monster thrown into the mix. I really liked the quirky parts.
And we get two weeks off for Christmas break. I have to fight everyday to keep my routine up to date, so that keeps me busy but I'm thinking about harvesting some trees for extra$$ and also my student program is building a workshop in process. Luckily no backhoe work for a while.... still getting caught up with everything else.
I hope you don't stress too much for the holidays, just do your best. EVERYTHING you can make days ahead of time, do it. Pastas, sauces, potato dishes etc.... lots of tips and suggestions on the internet for an easy dinner day - ๐
Be good, ttyl.
@IsayUncle That's good that you are in a good routine. I know how hard it is to get there and then keep it going. I have gotten the boys into a good bedtime routine. We read a story, brush teeth, tape in Jaxon's catheter, and then get in bed and then listen to an audio book on their echo dot kids. I got it on black Friday. They've been listening to Beatrix Potter the last few nights.
I'm glad to hear you are getting a rest from your extra jobs. You need it I think.
I'm not too stressed about Christmas yet. It will be the 26th. I did get good news on my mammogram. Normal. Finally something about me is normal, lol. And yes I like tea, but not as much as coffee. But anything hot this time of year is good.
What did you buy for yourself for Christmas?
@Psalm139
Congrats on your mammo! i'm glad it was normal, as not to worry you too. That's great! Sounds like a great routine with the kids. I've heard of Potter but I think that was Harry. LOL. Beatrix was a pretty amazing woman. You really do awesome with schooling your kids, don't ya? It always sounds like it to me.
my splurges were electronics.. headphones amazon stick, phone and (computer camera... which i lost the entir package.... DUH!๐) it wasnt too expensive $40 i think.
I've ben eating healthy. rice and soups and cooked meats veggies, etc. Feeling good too. I splurged on some chips and bologna today... ugh made me feel bad and tired. (Who's the dummy.. this guy is! lol)
@IsayUncle I try to do a good job homeschooling. Some days(and years) are better than others, but I try. I'm happy to hear that you got some gifts for yourself. Have you found the camera? Where did you lose it?
Good job on the diet changes you are making! Its ok if you have setbacks as long as you don't give up. It seems like you know what to eat and how to cook so that's a very good start!
How was your day today?
@Psalm139
Chores and more chores. Then, this afternoon, picking up kids for work project. These are high schoolers that cannot read, do math or understand a tape measure. That's what I mean when I think you are doing an amazing job schooling yours. It must be really hard sometimes but you're getting them the tools they need to succeed.
I think I'll be struggling today with staying focused. I'll need one of my challenge posts to keep me going. ๐. I always do good for awhile and then get excited about eveything I can do and overwhelm my brain to the point of exhaustion without doing anything.
@IsayUncle That's sad about your kids. How did they make it to high school? How did it go with them yesterday? I didn't see a new thread of yours. Did you ever make one?
Justin worked a lot on the (future) laundry room. Tearing out the old cabinets and sheetrock. I'm hopeful that he will get something done on it so it looks better when his dad visits. We will see!
We did already start our break. We will probably start back on the 3rd - the day after Makennah's birthday.
I don't have plans for the weekend. Hopefully later Justin will do laundry so then Ill have to fold and put away. I'm still adjusting with lower energy with the limited coffee but hope it will make a difference on my next scope in a few months.
I'm having some mental food struggles because of the limited diet. It gives me an excuse to eat less and lose weight even though I probably shouldn't but its kind of a good feeling to see the number go down and even the dizziness is addictive a little. Idk. I just don't want the doctor to say anything. I won't see either in a few months. I don't remember if I told you about those problems. I like the control I guess. Anyway lol. Ill figure it out.
What are you doing today?
@Psalm139
I don't think you ever said anything about an eating disorder. I'm sorry to hear that because it sounds more serious than just an eating/dieting challenge. We just do the best we can with what we've got sometimes. What do you mean, it is a control thing? Whatever you are doing be careful with it.
I have no idea how the kids this age got this far in school with very little intellectual survival skills.. except street skills, stubborness, self bravado and determined pride.
Me, Today... Boring chores.... dragging my feet.... blah blah. I haven't written anything else anywhere. Just mucking through with little inspiration๐. Did you guys ever get the plumbing and electrical figured out for the laundry room? I also hope things are cleaned up for you for the holidays but he's getting started, fingers crossed. ๐
@IsayUncle I don't think its an eating disorder really. I just like to control what I eat and how much I weigh. But sometimes I can relax more but when a doctor is limiting my diet I feel like its an excuse to lose weight. Even though I probably look better not going too much under 100 lbs. Idk. I'm still nervous if I lose too much what they would want to do. I can't really explain it. It probably sounds stupid. I don't tell the doctors about any of it.
How did your chores end up going? We never did get anything done in there until now. I'm happy he finally started it.
Have you seen the huddles? Would you want to do one with me?
@Psalm139
Your eating habits don't sound stupid. (But are you controlling it properly if you are going below your optimum weight?) I'm not sure what a huddle is but it sounds good and like a "group" of people get together. Will you do that? (A small group might be a good thing). But, yea, absolutely if you want to try a huddle. I think we've worked through a couple of hard moments together and developed a good chat here so I hope not to lose this in the process. What do you think?
Let me know how to huddle ๐ (I'm not sure how the timing thing will work)
@IsayUncle The little boys have a gift a day this month and today they got a book set. I think it's their favorite so far! Also, I tagged you in the post about huddles. Looks like there will be a chat room just for participants that is open all the time so I thought it could be fun. But yeah idk if it's a good idea or not bc of the group thing.
@IsayUncle I came back to try to post again because I tried several times earlier and it said it didn't work but I guess it did, lol.
@Psalm139
I'm glad you got my message. I was afraid you would have thought I didn't like the idea because of a lack of a response. They changed something on the search engine for our previous posts. i don't think I like it.
I'll go sign up for the wellness one too. ๐

@IsayUncle
And yeah, I hope they fix the problems soon!
I cannot find the huddle page again. Can you send me the link.
They must be working on the site. It's really messing things up.๐

@IsayUncle The link to the huddle page is a couple msgs up. What are you up to today?
@Psalm139
Do you mind telling me what you wrote about, "what you wanted to get out of huddles"?
I wrote the following because I'm really pretty bad at it and I want to improve that a lot.
"Understand and learn how to interact with others"
That might be hard for you to believe but it is so very true, so I'll probably be talking a lot about that.
@IsayUncle I said something like to meet new people and work on health goals. But really the part I'm excited about is maybe we can chat in real time if we can find a time that works. And I'm not surprised that you think you need to work on interacting but I think online you do great from what I've seen. Definitely with me.
I hope you had a good day. I ended up going to the laundromat because Justin hadn't done the laundry yet and we were so behind it needed to be done.
@Psalm139
That sounds real good and thank you too. We should get something worked out with the time. I slept in this AM, so gotta go. ttyl, have a great day!๐
@Psalm139
Hi M, How are you/ the huddle thing willtake some learning but I still want to do it. How about you. I am swamped unti sunday so not much studying time at the moment.
@IsayUncle I'm ok. How did last night go? Yeah Idk how the huddle will go. I guess we will see. When does Christmas break start?
@Psalm139
I just managed to get the elementary kids (18) packages done but the middle and high school I didn't finish. I gave the bus free seatimg, pizza, chips and drinks though so they all loved that. Today is my last day for two weeks.
@IsayUncle Awesome! I bet you're excited about the break! Any plans? Projects? You should definitely schedule in some rest days too.
Its super nice for you to want to give your kids gifts. They are lucky to have you!
I think they fixed the Bugs. I didn't have much time to chat earlier. I wwanted to say that I know my topic parrallels some things you deal with too but I really i've been pretty messed up socially most of my life and you haven't seen a lot of that because I try to be different here on 7 cups but I still do suffer great social inadaquacies. Just wanted to share a bit more about me too, before the huddle. I think it'll be good. ๐
@Psalm139
Hi M, OMG.... I'm Free! Ooooo, where to start??? LOL!
They finally got the Wellness Huddle 2 chatroom started. Are you ready to go say Hi. I'll say hi after you say hi hahaha. ๐
Here's the link. https://www.7cups.com/chat/?c=l2Zre3aXmJqdlLBpWFPDmQ!!
@IsayUncle I'm up if you want to chat
@Psalm139
Hi, I went back to bed for a few hours because I could - ahhhh. ๐. I can chat too if the timing is still ok with you.
@Psalm139
I see what you mean about having time to chat. I just went and chatted @ H-2 and saw your chat there too. Cool.
@IsayUncleI guess we missed each other. What have you been up to?
@Psalm139
Just cleaning and cooking all day. I went to get a student helper but he bailed with his friends. that was ok by me. lol. what have you been doing all day?
So what do we do next on this huddle thing?
@IsayUncle I stayed home with the little boys while Justin took the older kids to Avatar. I made homemade pizza and now I'm making brownies. It's Treyton's bday and he doesn't like cake lol. Crazy he's 12.
The lady leading the huddle said we can make our own posts in the forum, so you can if you want.
@Psalm139
So you all celebrated Treytons birthday when they came home from the movies.(?) That second avatar movie looks awesome! They must've loved that!
I am totally following your lead on the huddle thing until I can't grasp the timing of things. Did you want to start your own post in the forum? I wrote something yesterday and no one ever commented or replied. (I'm not dissappointed or complaining, just confused a bit). I think it's all good and still an adventure to pursue. (Corny, but that's how I look at things sometimes... little adventures).
I didn't accomplish a lot yesterday, I hope to do better today. It sounds like your kids should have a had a great birthday - day. I hope they did, that's awesome!
@IsayUncle. Sorry I wasn't around today. Justin was home and we went to Kohls and got his dad a gift and some random stuff. Then we came home and I took a nap. I was so tired. I did some dishes later and cleaned a little in the bedroom and that's about it.
Treyton did have a good birthday. I gave him robux(they play games on roblox and he can use it to buy digital items he wants and game passes) and a body pillow for his bed, a big Mario plush and a big box of like 18 twix bars. Then he went to the movie and had brownies. It was a chill day. I was glad I couldn't go to the movie. Theatres aren't my favorite place to go.
How was your weekend?
@Psalm139
No problem, I'm super glad to hear it sounds like you had an excellent chill day. That is so fantastiic. Smiles for miles on this end. My big accomplishhment was using up the veggies for soups, salads and juicing. A big day of cooking and cleaning and actually finishing everything without leaving a big mess for this morning.
Today? Being pulled in 3 directions, 1) Shelves for workshop. 2) Fix brakes on dumptruck. 3) Paperwork records and filing.
@IsayUncle Good morning! I'm happy to hear that you had a good day yesterday๐. Good job getting everything cleaned up after cooking! That's huge! What project did you start with today? I have to do some deep cleaning this week. I think today I will start with cleaning under the furniture and dusting everything really well. Also wiping down walls and the baseboards. I'm starting with the least important because I have a week until Justin's parents come. I'm a little out of it. Its not all bad because I can't think as much. Ill check in with you later ๐
@Psalm139
Thanks. "Deep Cleaning" I like that distinction. I have a lot of that to do but I never thought of it as a seperate entity. That's a good way of seperating from the normal cleaning so at least it doesn't feel like it can never get it finished. Kind of like a seperate task.
It's neat when someone says or does something that helps make something click for the better. ๐. I hope you get a good bit done and your brain doesn't get to racing. You're getting an early start, that's good.
I started with my paperwork, got some done there and then moved to the shelves. Had trouble getting my generator started so that stopped any progress. So I ate lunch and rested a couple of hours. Getting back to it now!
How'd you do today?
@IsayUncle Sounds like you made good progress. Did you get your generator working? I got the upstairs (girls' bedrooms) done and about half of the boys' room. I vacuumed the living room but decided to start with the least important and then I can focus on the main living areas the last few days before they come. Sounds like we may get a snowstorm on Thursday. Hopefully the roads are good enough for the four hour drive on Monday!
