I did it, finally
After seven years, I can now say that I am a black belt in TaeKwonDo! I'm really happy atm
Congratulations π
@Obsi This is huge! Congratulations!π
Congrats! Will you keep training in TKD? Have you thought about cross-training in another martial art?
@slowdecline48 I'm definitely going to keep training in TKD as I now get to instruct the younger belts, though I likely won't be going 3 times a week. I've absolutely thought about cross training and I'm looking at starting Brazilian Jiu-jitsu once I get back from basic training.
@Obsi π Sounds like a plan. I've heard that in many traditional martial arts, it is once you've earned your black belt that you start to learn the advanced stuff...that is, the kinds of skills that are better suited for use outside a dojo or gym. "Black belt 2nd degree", etc.
BJJ would definitely round out your tool kit. If you decide to do it for practical reasons, try to focus on no-gi techniques & training. Grabbing onto a sleeve & controlling an opponent with it is nifty, but in the real world not everyone you run into will wear a thick tear-resistant jacket & pants.
@Obsihelloooooo
@Obsi So very proud of you. I hope you're proud as well.π
@Obsi Nice job. I also have a black belt and know how much work that takes. Great job.
@Obsi
