So you have all heard of the infamous teen thread   "No Cupsing in Class"

now. . . .

here is.....

"No Cupsing Whilst Cooking!"

cooking-kid.gif

For safety reasons, we all know that when operating heavy, or hot machinery, eg: coffee makers, air fryers, grills, BBQ smokers, we need to be watching so that we keep safe and make sure the food does not get spoilt as can often be the case when our eyes dart away to Cupsland and we get carried away forgetting what else we are doing!

So let's see if we can all share:-

1) What is cooking (or what was it meant to be)

2) Where on Cups were you caught 'Cupsing Whilst Cooking'

3) What happened as a result!

4) Tag some friends!

5) Share some recipes!

6) There isn't a number 6 lol!

7) Join the Hobby Zone Team!

@MistyMagic

What a fun idea lol. #6 is my favorite!😂

I'm not much of a cook but whatever little survival food I can cook xD is when I consider cooking to be one of those "gotta do it with full concentration" things hehe, so no cupsing for me during then anyways and now will be even more careful after this reminder post lol.😄

Soooooo looking forward to hear about everyone's stories though. Spilllllll already, people. (quite literally, uh huh?!😛).

@MistyMagic what a fun idea 😄 I´m not a big cook, so best i can do is rice. But i tend to task hop and forget what am i doing. One time, i just wanted to heat up some tea on the stove. Forgot about it and came back the pot being burnt beyond saving 😂

@sadcat13 Oh and the smell can be really bad and linger!  What kind of rice do you cook, as that can be really tricky

@MistyMagic just most basic rice ever. White round grained. Put in pot with some oil, onion, salt and water, and hoping i won´t forget about it lol

@sadcat13  Have you tried a simpler way, that won't burn or need to be watched?  As you say oil, soften onions, put in rice and stir, then put in enough water to cover and a bit more, bring the water to the boil. put on a tight lid, take off the heat and leave for 15-20 minutes depending on rice type and size.

@MistyMagic yess that´s how we do it. The problem is to not forget i have it on the stove 😄 Cause i get sidetracked and then have an ooooh damn it moment, sprinting to the kitchen to check on it. I started to sit in the kitchen until it is done, but nahh. A good book, me proissing myself that i will check on it when i finish the page, and forgot about it again

I am not much of a cooker (xD) but when I cook, I don’t have a device on me so I am never on cupsland while cooking or coughing cupsing while cooking. And I hope I never am because cupsing while cooking is dangerous (or doing anything distracting while cooking/dealing with fire or preher dangerous things)

@tidyHickory3283 Yes absolutely, hence the warnings,  what do you like to cook? What makes you decide to cook in the end?

I cook when I am hungry and end up nibbling the raw veg lol. Even my dog begs for raw broccoli and cauliflower!

@MistyMagic

Mug cakes and Maggi. When I feel too hungry to wait for lunch/dinner and don’t have biscuits or anything to snack on. Maggi rarely (very very rarely) comes in our house and when it does I make sure to eat it only when I absolutely crave it.

lmao I don’t think I like raw veggies xD

Give your dog some treats for wanting healthy food 😭

Oh no! You got me 💙 . I'm guilty. 😔. I'm a cupser while I cook!

Weekend morning breakfast? Guilty. Sometimes I find it hard to find a reason to get up at the weekend and turn to cupsing for a helping hand. And as soon as I'm inspired and up, I'm hungry, and so cups has to come with me to get breakfast. Fried egg anyone?

Baking. Guilty. Waiting for the dough to prove, Cupsing. Waiting for the microwave to ping, Cupsing. Avoiding the washing up, Cupsing. Nomming on the result, Cupsing.

Sometimes you are with me every step of the way. Such a shame I can't share the results. 🍪

No accidents yet. Well, not any I can blame on Cups, anyway. I'm perfectly capable of making enough mistakes as it is, thanks. But that's just an opportunity for more practice and more nomming.

Voice activated timers are a godsend. I can safely get Cups distracted, in the knowledge that some non intelligent AI will manage the passing of time for me.

Thanks for listening while I tested the latest batch of brownies. 😀

And thanks for a fun post.

@Clio9876  Oh that is so fun! I can imagine you cooking, Ping! Cupsing, Ping! I will have to look for a voice activated timer, that sounds so useful as I too get very distracted.

@MistyMagic ooh, cool we don't usually have fresh fruit at home since we don't buy things if they come from too far but we do have frozen blueberries, I'll have to try it : )

Yeah I literally don't own a pot right now due to both/either burning it black or fusing a layer of food forever onto the bottom of it.

I only own two pans now and a crock pot I never use. My cast iron herniated me everywhere and continues to do so. So heavy.

I'm trying to set timers more consistently, use affirmations and all the other tools and skills to pace myself and catch preventable error.

Here is proof I'm not a pot-head, because I'm obviously a pan-head. Here is also proof I shouldn't tell jokes.

Me with my cast iron pan. Someone explain to me why these pans have to weigh as much as Thor's hammer.

img-20240210-190617456-3_1707621203.jpg

Me with my bialetti. It's huge. I was super surprised and happy to be donated this...shout-out to the generous helpers in the world! 🙏

@communicativePond1728  I have an idea to help with this

"burning it black or fusing a layer of food forever"

I saw a vid that poured 2 liters of cocoa cola* onto the pot and let it soak  OMW it removed all the black and came up sparkling!

*other brands are available but may not work lol!
