How do you gain back motivation to exercise?
Hi I'd like to start off by saying this is my first post here.Lately I've been gaining some weight I used to be 135-140lbs now I'm 170.It doesn't make it any better that I'm on the shorter side of the height spectrum I'm 4'11.So I'm obese for my height and am scared that if this keeps going on I'll be 200+lbs.Im very concerned for my health as I suffered a stroke last year.So I need to maintain a good exercise routine.All I do is mostly stay home and watch tv and eat all day.What are some ways to stop snacking/eating too much? I want to desperately break this cycle.I cant go to a gym because i have no money.So home workout recommendations would help.How can I gain motivation?What are some tips that you use or that works?
@Shortasiankid
Watching TV and eating is a bad combo because we often eat more then we know we did.
you can start by making rules for yourself ... some people at home and find themselves watching TV do items like walking in place or stretching during commercials or limit hours to no TV ...
there are 1000's or workout videos on you tube and many can be done in 20-30 minutes
your motivation should be you....... you health ..... your self love and confidence i tried for years to exercise with someone and things telling me i should i hated it when i do things for ME it works... i wanted to fit in my older favorite clothes ... so i did what it took.....
Remember the weight went on slowly and coming off takes more time then we want or think ...
logging food into a calorie or macro counter helps and being honest about the portion size was something i worked on.

fantastic advice 🙌🙌🙌💕💕💕🙌🙌💕💕💕
@Shortasiankid Think of working out like a competition between other people as to who work out the hardest to better improve themselves. Think of all the insults or jokes you heard about your weight/weight and try to prove them wrong and get a revenge body.

First of all start tracking your food to see what you actually consuming … Fitness Pal is free and fabulous. You are not alone I am on a health journey as well. Choose lower calories foods for meals and snacks be sure to avoid sodium. It makes you retain water.
Activity as in steps doing activities around the home or going for a walk is easy no special equipment needed. It is a great way to keep busy and being outside is great for your body and also your mental health.
It takes a bit to develop healthy habits start small walk a little and build ….. start purchasing healthier food …choose foods with less processing lean proteins veggies and fruits whole grains and good choices for dairy like Greek yogurt …if you freeze yogurt it tastes like a treat …
You got this! Start now three months from now you will be grateful you did.
Are there weight loss groups in your area?
Thank you for sharing ….
Hi @SunShineAlwaysGrateful I had myfitnesspal before it was great but I don't have iphone anymore I switched to Android.As far as healthy foods and snacks I will be purchasing some very soon.And I do not know if there any weight loss groups nearby where I live.I did however installed on my android a free at home workout app as well as a step tracker and calorie tracker.
@Shortasiankid
not sure if this was said already, but myfitnesspal is available for android phone as well as iphone. So, you should still be able to use it on your android phone. Just go to the app store and download it for android. Thanks, and good luck losing weight!
@Shortasiankid
idk but if u find out tell me bc I suffer from the same thing. I'm like 52. 170ish lbs. and my weight causes me major depression and low self esteem. I try 2 diet but food is my comfort. also I try 2 exercise but cant stay committed.
@SquirdwardBobRoss
Alright I'll let you know and I know how you food is my comfort to I guess I got a little too comfortable.And I don't want to fall in the majorly obese category for a 4'11 person that would be very bad for my health in general and since I have high blood pressure and cholesterol.Yeah I also used to exercise on my own at home and couldn't stay committed to me it was taking too long to lose weight and I lost motivation after that and after I stopped go to the gym with my siblings.In my opinion the gym can help but is sort of overrated and just taking your money every month.

Hi there~ I'm Ocean the Healthy Living Community Leader. We are so glad to have you here. Thank you for introducing yourself.
We are sorry to hear that you are having such a challenging time trying to stay motivated and get back on track. I know how difficult that can be. As I have been there myself.
I think the different suggestions given to you above by everyone are all great in their own way! One thing that I would personally add to this is to do something that YOU LOVE AND ENJOY!...
If you try to start a workout routine and you aren't liking it, it will make that much harder to stick to it. Finding something that you like and enjoy will keep you motivated to keep going and moving your body!
For me, I like to dance... so therefore I LOVE "ZUMBA" Classes. or Classes where I get to dance. I also LOVE to Swim! Therefore I enjoy AQUA Aerobics classes.
So find something that you Like and Enjoy for yourself, and it will never seem like "Work". Try focusing on 'Small steps" and one thing at a time. Because if you take on too much at once, it may seem to overwhelming. Maybe start with 10 minutes a day. If you listen to 3 of your Most favorite songs and take a walk, or move in place while they are playing, then that will equal 10 minutes!.... Then try increasing it little by little to 15 minutes, then 20 ...etc.... etc....
Youtube had MANY great workouts to get you started from your home. Low impact exercises can come in the form of clicking on "Silver Sneakers" workouts. Where you can walk, or dance in place at home. Or even Strength train for about 15 minutes. And you can also look up whatever you like. Even exercises from the Chair are available.
We are here to support you! Please keep us updated on how you are doing. And reach out if you have any questions!
@PolitrOcean
Thank you the suggestions I'll keep them in mind.I just started cutting back on eating and snacking too much and taking little steps to improve my health.I am doing things like walking around my home problem it's a small apartment so I can't walk around much.I do enjoy several things like gaming and listening to music on my phone when I'm walking around.To help my progress I downloaded a step counter,calorie tracker, and workout app.As far as fitness equipment I only have dumbbells for now.But i am planning on attaining more equipment and joining a gym when i have the money for it I'll be sure to keep the community updated with my progress.
I thank you shouldn't worry about what people thank and do what the doctor says
