Juicing For weight loss?
4 years ago , I watched a documentary film called " Fat Sick and Nearly Dead ". It was about an overweight guy who wasn't paying attention to his health & he wanted to regain his health by replacing Junk food with a plant based diet through a " juice diet ".
This documentary movie was an inspiration to a lot of people to start to lose weight & be health " including my sis ".
During my last year in med school and while talking about bariatric surgery " weight loss surgeries " , my surgery doctor said that when there is someone who can't lose weight by common ways & before doing any surgeries , he would suggest the juice diet for a week /15 days to boost the body to burn more calories & increase its metabolic rate.
So, What do you think about " juice diet " ? Did you try it before to boost your body to burn more calories?
It's a fairly extreme diet. It probably wouldn't meet all nutritional needs. I could see where it would be beneficial to some, but I could also see it being an issue for those who have issues with fluctuating blood glucose levels, whether it's due to diabetes, hypoglycemia or something else.
While it's always a good idea to seek out professional medical advice before making any exercise, diet or treatment regimen and for things like this, that are likely more drastic changes I think it's vital.
As for the documentary I know some who are very frustrated with it. For most, a juicing diet isn't going to be beneficial for chronic urticaria. Like many others with chronic illnesses they often get advice from random people. The documentary often leads to more of that.

I agree with all what you said , and yes this is not a long time diet nor it will help your body so much in fighting chronic illnesses, eating healthier will.
The point in which I think juicing will be good is just for motivating our body to burn calories , some people change their diet to be health , do exercises but their body don't burn any calories "and yes a quite nunber of people may experience this especially if they are struggling with weight loss". Some people replace a meal or two with juice or continue juicing diet for only a week just to increase their metabolic rate.
For me to continue with this diet for a longer periods is dangerous , the point of losing weight is to lose gradually & in a healthy way , but i support using this diet just for few days ,replacing one or two meals with this & for people who tried so many times & their bodies became tolerant to their changing lifestyles.

Actually, it does get most if not all nutritional needs.

Yes , you are right ! This is just a way to tell your body to burn more calories , if people knew its purpose. It not a long time diet , people may misuse it because of dreaming about losing weight so quickly & that's why this is must be done under doctor supervision & for a few days or just replacing a meal or two per day.
@Alia2 what would be far better is make a bengali fish stew, just w garlic and turmeric. And have a handful of rice with alot of the stew.

My husband tried this juicing for 10 days. He never felt better. Personally, I think it was because he was hydrated well for the first time. That being said juicing is expensive! The documentary you mentioned emphasised physical fitness as an equally important component in getting healthy. He also said it was not for long term and gain weight back himself over time.
Juicing is good to add to your lifetime changes but certainly not one to focus on for obtaining a healthy body.
My advice? Spend your money on a Registered Dietician and get their advice.
I think those diets are not about what you eat (juices) but about everything that you DON'T eat during those diets (no processing foods and such). Just a more healthy diet would be very helpful.
here the diet is very near from fasting. fasting does have benifits too in lose weight and feeling better. it helps with self control if you have a food addition. it has benifits on short term. and you feel better because of all the scrap that you DONT eat (again).
in both case (this diet and fasting), it should be made in SHORT TERM and/or under medical supervision. and should never exceed a few weeks. Of course, in both cases, the goal should not be to lose weight, and you should expect take back the weight you lost after the experience if you don't change your habits and if you return to your old habits.
I have used natural diet pills. It is safe but not fast way.

I believe it does work. I have used it to jump start my diet. However I have since moved toward being a vegan to feel lighter when I run.

I have juiced for a week straight and I def lost a few pounds. I think one of the best things about juicing is that it allows you to get a mega boost of fiber.
Hi there, according to me balanced diet and proper workout are an inexpensive way to lose weight. I have heard many diet guides which help in losing weight.
