@hardworkingBeechwood6063 Most times my motivation is knowing im doing something that takes effort and is very respectable

Like this!

I feel like when I was younger I used to exercise to look good. Then once I stopped and got out of shape I would tell myself to exercise so I could stay healthy. This really did nothing for me. Recently I decided to change my reason to improving my mental health. I'm sick of always being depressed and I started going to bed at 9 pm and I found it improved my mood in the morning and I wake up without an alarm. Now that I wake up early I walk in the morning. I'm starting to do more walking and my stamina is improving slowly. Start small.

  • Listen to music to hype yourself up but also make the time go faster as you focus on multiple things
  • Switch things up in exercise: do different sets on different days to make it seem less repetitive
  • Switch things up in distraction: sometimes instead of music, I put a video on in the background that I kinda watch, but of course miss half of because I am working out. But it does, again, change the dynamic of your workout and the passing of the time
  • For cardio, for example cycling on a stationary bike: do something else at the same time, like watching something, checking your phone. I like to learn a language: every lession feels like teleporting forward in time
  • Try to fall in love with the feeling afterwards: the soreness in your muscles should be some kind of result to be happy with, feel proud of. You want to get there!

And find the exercises that you like, if something doesn't work or you don't like it, find it hard or whatever. If after a few times, it is still like that, change it, adjust or replace. Sticking to routines that are boring or annoying is a lot more difficult!

@hardworkingBeechwood6063 It's really mind over matter. Don't think. Just do. It's ok to take breaks too.

i remind myself that even though it’s difficult, and even though my mind physically doesn’t want me to get up and exercise, this isn’t just for the health of my body, but it’s to strengthen my mind and create balance that I haven’t had before
