🌞 This past week was a little varied...yet...again status-quo. ~ Last Saturday was dreary & quiet. Just me and the Furbaby... But it was none-the-less productive in its own right at home... Sunday we managed to get out for a few errands & get some steps in as the Sunshine finally took the time to peek back out for a bit.... At the start of the week, I managed to get fully back on track with all my goals (Sleep, Activity, Hydration, & Meal-planning)... But, I have found during the time we had the dreary weather, that I got back off track with my Water goals. It was challenging to get it in as I just didn't desire to drink any for some reason... Even after my workout sessions. And I'm trying to find a way to get better with that again.
🌻 This week I continued to keep on track with all my Fitness classes/sessions. The weather started off dreary but mild, (& early Fall-like).... But has managed to surprise us again the past few days with a nice Blast of summer to finish off the season. And I still managed to get out for those walks with the Furbaby in the mornings.... Typically I am rather (sad) for lack of better term to see the Summer come to an end... And while I do Love Fall, I'm not particularly interested in seeing any parts of the Winter months ahead afterwards (because I simply find them too long, drawn-out, boring, & chilly).. And we don't even get any Lovely "Snow" to look at here except maybe "once every few years or so"!... (Hopefully this year will be a year that we get to see it again)?!.... But at this point, I've been feeling somewhat "Indifferent" about Summer coming to an end today. It was also a little overly humid one for me as well... But our Pool is now closed, & Summer items (and decor) are slowly being put away as well this past week.... However, What I am looking forwards to as these last few months of the year come & go, is to continue on in meeting the personal goals I have for myself. And of course, "Spooky & Holiday" seasons~
🌞 This weekend we are having what seems to be a Plethora of local Activities & Festivals in and near our surrounding areas!.. I do love attending the annual ones, or "special" ones.....Its going to be a beautiful weekend ahead, & intentions are to celebrate the last day of this season to its fullest. So Intentions are to hopefully get in a morning Zumba class, & then head out for the day to check out the different Festivals. I like shopping the different vendors, looking at different things, enjoying the music, foods, give-aways, (sometimes getting Free stuff!).. etc... And truly enjoy getting in & racking-up All the extra "Steps" that I can get in for the day by all the walking~ And of course, I will now probably start digging into my "Horror Movie" sessions for Movie night~
@PoliteOcean
I'm right there with you about the winter months being long, drawn out and dreary.....we do get a fair amount of snow though, and snow blowing, shoveling and finding a place to put it all after a larger storm is really a pain in the butt....I'm kinda over it and ready to move to a better climate after retirement.....
I hope you enjoy your fall festivals....while I'm not a people person, I really do enjoy going to them, seeing the things, eating the foods, listening to the music, etc....I just keep to myself and don't socialize lol.....
@CyclingThroughLife
lol.. I see that we are rather alike in various ways!
I was born/raised in the north but been south past 20+yrs now. I do have more of an appreciation for the snow since I don’t get to see it as often! However after the holidays I have NO need for the winter months! 😂
As far as the festivals, I did enjoy. But I’m totally like you in that I could do WITHOUT the crowds! But in all honesty, if I avoided the crowds here, I’d probably “never” get out! lol
🌞 Hey All~ Welcome to the Weekend~ How have you been & how was your week?
I have been ok this week. It was an off week because I worked on my days off. But now I have a long weekend (actually 5 days off) to make up for it. We took an impromptu 3 hour drive to the coast yesterday and will be here until Sunday. It really was a last
minute, lets just get in the car and go, type of thing, planned out in
about 30 min while searching for a hotel room online lol.....it was a
nice drive yesterday due to the foliage changing and we had a nice
dinner at an Italian place....We are visiting some restaurants we have been wanting to eat at, we will drive another hour up the coast today and do some light house sight seeing, even though its off season we will stop by the beach and stick our feet in the water (I'm sure it will be nice and cold since we will be in Maine), and do some shopping at the outlet stores along the way.....I'm hoping for a nice relaxing few days
🌻 This is our "Third" Check-in for SEPTEMBER~... For many of us, its also the "Official Last" Day of Summer~ .... How do you feel the summer went for you overall? What was the Best part of the Summer months for you?.. And HOW do you intend or plan to spend This "Last" day of it?!~
I feel my summer went well overall. The best part of the summer months was my trip to Myrtle Beach with my kids and grandkids.....how I'll spend the last day of it? See my answer above....
🌾 As we end the Summer season today, What will you Miss (or Not miss) about the season the Most?!... And what are you looking forwards to the Most as we get ready to move into Autumn?!
I'm sure I will miss all things summer....I'm not fond of the cold, the snow, the dark and dreary days ahead.....specifically, I will miss riding my bicycle outdoors. The colder weather means I transition from outdoor cycling to indoor spinning for a while.....while I love a good spin class, nothing beats a good ride in nice weather on the back roads or bike paths.
🍁 JUST FOR FUN:... Would You Rather?!.... Visit a "Pumpkin Patch", a "Corn Maze", ...Or an "Apple Orchard?! Most places around here have all three at one venue.....personally I'd rather pick apples....
@CyclingThroughLife
Hey there Cycling 🚴~
That’s great that your week was ok for you despite having to work on your off days. But how awesome for you that you got to incorporate what seems to be quite an amazing “impromptu” trip! … And icing on the cake that it’s along the coast! I hear Maine can be pretty beautiful. And I bet it feels amazing there this time of year! Great job to you on doing something good for yourself and taking some time to relax! I’m sure you needed it! Hope you enjoyed to the fullest!
Seems we have yet another thing in common~ As Myrtle Beach was one of our favorite trips too this summer. It’s such a wonderful place to be and spend time with family and With so much to do there. We used to take our boys all the time when they were teens. Glad you were able to enjoy your time there as well as your summer overall.
Ahhh yes… I guess you don’t call yourself “Cycling” for nothing! I can see your dilemma there with being able to get a good ride in for yourself outdoors during those winter months…. Even with no snow (here) it still gets too cold & frigid to do anything like that… But It’s great though that you will still continue to challenge yourself with indoor cycling and that you have that option until the seasons pass again.
I’d have to agree with the “Apple picking” as well! We too have all the others here, but you can’t beat a good Apple!
Thanks for checking in this week. It’s always great to hear from you! And hope you are still feeling good from your trip. Please continue to keep us updated. And let us know how the trip went overall.
@PoliteOcean
The trip went well overall despite the weather....it was wet, raining on and off both Friday and Saturday....but we didn't let that stop us. To be honest, it was pretty cool watching the ocean waves hit the rocks and shores around the light houses during the rain storm....It makes you appreciate the power of the ocean and the weather when you see it....It wasn't like a terrible storm with super high tides and waves, but enough to make you think and be thankful it wasn't any worse. We did spend some time indoors shopping and visited a submarine museum and got to tour a WWII era sub that was dry docked and out of service at the museum. It was pretty cool.....the best part of the trip though was the food and places we got to eat at....great restaurants....one of them was featured on the food network on Diners Drive ins and Dives....And Sunday the rain moved out so we did walk the beach in the morning for a bit before heading home....So all in all, it was a great last minute, get in the car and just go and do things type of weekend....we plan weekend get aways every couple of months, but not usually last minute like this.....
Hello!
🌞
This week was actually great for me, even when it was a long work week! :)
🌻 For me summer ended when flods began in my region lol. They didn't affect me, I was lucky. I actually don't remember a lot from this summer. It was my first summer in new home and I liked getting ice-cream, even though I didn't buy it that often. I was on a vacation and that was a bit stressful.
🌾 I will miss the warmth, but I won't miss the heat. I will miss the sun but I won't miss getting sunburn. I will miss the light but I won't miss mosquitos. I am looking toward wearing my battle Jacket that I've been working on. I am looking forward to spooky season, decorating our house, watching spooky movies and celebrating Halloween.
🍁 I always wanted to visit a corn maze!
🌞
A highlight for me was definitely the fact that I finally cleaned one corner of my room. Three more corners to go! I also sew togethwr a backpack that was falling appart and now I can wear it again! I am also proud how I cooked veggies with beans and made burritos!
🌻
I am super proud of myself for getting my life together and I hope so much that I can keep it up
@lilCatNamedVenus
Hey there! 👋🏼
Glad to hear that the week was well for you!
Oh wow! Sorry to hear about the floods, but glad they didn’t affect you!.. How lovely that you got to spend your summer in a new home! I hope you are enjoying it! (As well as your icecream). We definitely have to treat ourselves from time to time. What flavor do you enjoy most?!
I agree with you, in that I too will miss the warmth & sunshine but not the heat & humidity! It also sounds like we have some things in common as I too am looking forwards to all those same things! And how lovely that you are making yourself a jacket. That’s sounds like quite a talented skill!
Corn mazes can be fun.. we have here what’s called a “haunted cornmaze”! They have it every year and I still haven’t made time to check it out yet! lol
How great for you that you were able to be productive and get your space cleaned & organized. It can certainly make us feel better to have cleaner surroundings!… And awesome on the burritos! Those sound delicious (& healthy)!
It also sounds like you are doing some pretty amazing personal work on yourself and your life?! That’s definitely something to be proud of! Good for you! Great job to you and keep up the great work that you are doing & putting in. We are here to support you!
And Thank you for checking in to share your week with us & please continue to let us know how you are doing!
@PoliteOcean
@KatePersephone
Hey there Kate! 👋🏼
That’s so good for you that despite having not so great sleep sessions that you were able to still have a good week and that things went well overall. It seems like you are definitely getting the required sleep?! But definitely sounds like the quality of it might be in question since you are still feeling tired?! Perhaps visiting your healthcare provider could rule out some common things (such as Thyroid conditions, anemia, low Vit. B levels, or other simpler things such as added stress)?! Best of luck to you on finding the culprit and please keep us updated!
@PoliteOcean I'm writing this at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon local time. I'm hoping James doesn't have any therapists coming over this afternoon. James has only had two appointments this week but the manner in which he did it was really awkward. He should tell me in advance so I can plan accordingly. Last Sunday I spoke with my sister Kathryn on the phone for 25 minutes. She still wants to rehash issues from 10 years ago. I'm not interested in that. My new insurance card arrived on Monday. I went to the library 3 times and went for a walk 3 times. Tuesday I mailed two additional complaint forms to my agency. I started to study my vocabulary words with etymology and citations from the literature. I checked about 25 different food pantries to see if I could get free food but most of them are only open 2-4 hours a week. Pretty pathetic. Also I think most of them give a client a box or bag of staples. I don't need that. Leslie's grandchildren haven't come over that much this past week so that makes me happy. It's so inappropriate that they ever come over to begin with. I'm very much in a holding pattern so I wish God would speed things up.
@Regmo
Hey there Regmo~ I would agree that if you are sharing space with one another that you should be notified in advance if any disruptions are going to happen in your space… That’s good you are still keeping in contact with your sister despite your lack of interest in her topics. Perhaps you can let her know you’re not interested if you haven’t already done so. That’s a good thing to get your new insurance card, And that you were able to get out and about to the library and for your walks frequently. Good job on getting those complaint forms in as well keeping up with the things you enjoy. Keep at it with the pantries. It can be a hassle at times, but for those who need it it’s totally worth the effort. And hopefully for you all other things will continue to come together as you need them to. Keep praying and never cease. Thanks for checking in to share your week & keep us posted. And Continue to let us know how things are going & moving along.
@PoliteOcean
Hi, Ocean,
Hey All~ Welcome to the Weekend~ How have you been & how was your week? I'm depressed and still have a big paper to work on that is due tomorrow in the writing center. We had a mass shooting in the city where I live. That is depressing and scary.
🌻 This is our "Third" Check-in for SEPTEMBER~... For many of us, its also the "Official Last" Day of Summer~ .... How do you feel the summer went for you overall?... What was the Best part of the Summer months for you?.. And HOW do you intend or plan to spend This "Last" day of it?!~ My summer went well after I was offered the job.
🌾 As we end the Summer season today, What will you Miss (or Not miss) about the season the Most?!... And what are you looking forwards to the Most as we get ready to move into Autumn?! I always miss the long days of summer. I don't look forward to anything in the fall. I don't like the fall.
🍁 JUST FOR FUN:... Would You Rather?!.... Visit a "Pumpkin Patch", a "Corn Maze", ...Or an "Apple Orchard?! a corn maze--I never have.
🌞 What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?.... How were you able to work through your challenges?! I just try to think strategically about I need to do and forget the rest. :)
🌻What is something that "YOU" want to Talk about, Add or Share with us this week?!... WE want to hear from YOU~
@purpleTree4652
Hey there Tree~
It seems like you are dealing with a lot as well as processing a frightening moment. We are glad to hear that despite the stressors of your school assignment & a rather traumatic event, that all is well and you are doing ok in the wake of depressing & scary moment for you.
Its also great that despite the summer season having ended, that it was overall a good one for you as your visions & goals of obtaining a good job came together for you! And that you are continuing to concentrate & focus on what you need to do & take care of for yourself, while letting the other smaller things fall by the wayside.
It sounds like you are continuing to hang in there at this time while focusing & concentrating on your schooling & goals. Again we are glad to hear you are doing ok and are here for continued support!
Thank you for checking in to update us on your week and please let us know how everything is continuing to go for you.
@PoliteOcean
Perhaps my question is more directed at fellow Canadians, though all that support inherit Indigenous rights are welcome to reply.
Question: What, if anything, are you going to do on September 30th - Truth & Reconciliation Day? (Formal holiday in Canada/Turtle Island)
Me - smudge, wear orange t-shirt, and try to learn more about the 94 actions towards Truth & Reconciliation, put forth by the many First Nations of Canada & ratified by the governing bodies.
What say you?
BTW, this is not a political post. Indigenous persons are part of Canadiana. I am only asking what people will be doing that day.
