🌞This past week was well, was pretty quiet, and went by fast..... It was a pretty standard week for me.. I got back on track completely from my last summer vacation & the Labor Day holiday... And all meals, activities, tracking, sleep & goals were on point for the week.

🌻This week the weather took a turn (due to whatever tropical mix is going on at the time), which brought some rain over the past few days... But I continued to keep up with indoor activities/workouts, and thankfully was able to get out during the mornings before rain. This coming week ahead is the official "last week of Summer-time" & the weather is supposed to be very nice & finish strong! I'm ready to take on & tackle the week ahead & continue on with my September goals for the month.

🌾 This weekend has been really dreary & rainy here, and a rather quiet one so far... My usual morning Zumba class got Cancelled, so I had to get up & motivate myself today at home & put a workout together for myself....I had no concrete plans today, and its just been me & the furbaby all day cuddling up with a bunch of 80's movies (& cleaning & laundry)~ And I'm ok with that today as it allows me to slow down today & get caught up on things.... As well as give my vehicle (and gas) a rest in not having to go or be anywhere!

PoliteOcean OP September 14th

Sorry everyone... "re-tagging" as there was some type of glitch!

@PoliteOcean This week went pretty well. James only had 3-4 appointments here at the house this week. He still has a bad attitude and I really hate that. I went to the library twice and went for a walk 3 times. My new insurance plan arrived on Monday and it looks pretty good but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. My reading aspirations aren't getting me anywhere in my literature career so I decided to start memorizing vocabulary words to improve my writing skills. I might need to take the GRE someday. Thursday Tunde took me to get a haircut. It turned out really well. I needed a haircut really badly. It cost $40 including a wash and tip. James has been here 7 1/2 weeks. The first 5 weeks was catastrophic. My bedroom is my universe and he just happens to live in it. I finally got my complaint forms from my agency. I already mailed a complaint form about two weeks ago but I'm going to send another two in on different people. James has a really irregular schedule so I can't do my beauty or self-care routine like I wish. I really hate that. Leslie is a narcissist and a scammer.

@Regmo

Hey Regmo~ That sounds like good news for you that your week went well… As far as James goes, I guess I didn’t realize that you both were “roommates”. That can definitely be difficult in having to share your personal space with someone that you don’t desire to as well in possibly having your own routines disrupted! I like my personal space & it can be challenging when things deviate course. It’s definitely a positive that Tunde is back & that you were able to get out & about a few times this week for your walks & to the library. As well to finally get your haircut in… And that you also decided to re-route course & take on a new endeavor for yourself. It’s also great that you got those complaint forms and was able to get one completed & sent out. I hope that you are able to get somewhere with those. As I’m still baffled by these caregivers & their behavior?!.. I remember you saying in the past that you had Medicare or Medicaid?… Have you received something new outside of that? Just curious since you said you got new insurance. I was under the impression that Medicare (disability) was long-lasting… Thanks for checking in to share with us. It sounds like you had a decent & productive week with Tunde being back in the picture. Continue to keep us updated on things.

🌞 Hey AllHappy weekendHow was your weekThis week has been weird since I took a day off during the week because I am working on my regular scheduled days off.  Working on my two days off is messing up my routine, my home/house chores, and had just put me in a strange spot.

🌻 This is our "Second" Check-in for SEPTEMBER~... Which also happens to be "SelfCare Awareness Month!....What might be some challenges that you've encountered for yourself in providing the selfcare that you need?... In What ways were you able to incorporate selfcare time over the past week?... What are some "Feel good" things that you can do for yourself this weekendMy self care routine revolves around my fitness routine....actually that is really the only self care I do....I have a two hour workout window in the afternoons M-F that is my time for gym, bike riding, etc.....then I usually have about an hour after dinner that my girlfriend and I watch some television together....I guess you could call that relaxation time self care.

🌾  It's already the "Mid-point" of the Month again?!~ This month is really going by fast already~... In what ways do you feel that you've made some personal progress so far since the beginning of the Month? (Whether personally, professionally, or otherwise)?!  I don't feel I've made progress anywhere this month....just status quo....drifting along getting life done....

@CyclingThroughLife

Hey there Cycling 🚴👋🏼~

It really has been great to see you join us here these past few weeks.~

Sorry to hear that your week was a strange one for you. It can get challenging when we “get off schedule or course” from our regular & normal daily routines. Sometimes it’s for good reasons, but sometimes it can get crazy. But hopefully things will continue to come together for you in the new week ahead!

Fitness is a wonderful selfcare routine. Some people find solace in working out and getting in those sweat sessions... I think it’s awesome that you allot time in your week for a “regular” routine! Because it really is about “making” the time for it…. And Having that extra time to relax with your girlfriend in the evening is icing on the cake! (& it happens to be my favorite part of day as well). Two Excellent forms of selfcare. 💪🏼

As far as feeling that you haven’t made any progress so far this month, you’re definitely not alone… and that’s okay. But Good thing we still have another two weeks remaining to work on anything that we might be focusing on.

Ha! I never watched an episode of Schitts Creek (yet)…. But past previews of them on tv alone made me laugh so hard I almost “schitt” myself 😉~

Sounds like your week & your month so far have been standard~ Staying Neutral can be a good thing.

Thank you for sharing with us and letting us know how you’ve been doing the past week. Please continue to keep us updated.

Hi, Ocean,

You deserve a break.  I'm glad you got a break with your little fur baby.

Hey AllHappy weekendHow was your week?  It seemed long.

What are some "Feel good" things that you can do for yourself this weekend?  I am going to take a long shower and wash my hair and do all the other toiletry things that women do.

🌾  It's already the "Mid-point" of the Month again?!~ This month is really going by fast already~... In what ways do you feel that you've made some personal progress so far since the beginning of the Month? (Whether personally, professionally, or otherwise)?!  Oh gosh, I'm just making it through my classes.  We'll see how the semester turns out.

🍁 JUST FOR FUN:... Name a Movie or a Show that always puts you in a good mood?!  The old Pink Panther movies.

🌞 What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?.... How were you able to work through your challenges?!  I'm having to learn how to deal with bad mothers who come in to the library and like to just dump their children off on us.  They teach them very bad habits and don't care for their children or show them love.

🌻What is something that "YOU" want to Talk about, Add or Share with us this week?!... WE want to hear from YOU~

Hey there Tree 🌳👋🏼

Thank you so much as always for the kind words! ❤️

I’m sorry to hear that your week seemed “long” for you~ However I love your “Selfcare ideas”! And I think those are always excellent ways to take care of ourselves (especially as females). It can feel so good to take time for ourselves from head to toe! Some hope that you were able to pamper yourself!

I have no doubts that despite any challenges, that you are continuing on well this month in your studies! And Im positive that your semester will also be undoubtedly well!

Oh wow! I’m surprised (yet not surprised at the same time) with the issues you are having to deal with regarding parenting & children in the library. First of all, if it’s happening during the day, I’m surprised that those children are not in school at this time of year?!.. Secondly, (since it wasn’t specified), I hope these so-called moms aren’t just dropping these kids off & then leaving the facility?! If so, would that even be allowed? Are there rules in place for that? ..But last, I would still think that if children were behaving that badly (whether moms are there or not), that the facility/management would still have some type of rules in place if that type of behavior is continuing or ongoing? Yikes… I hope that situation can be resolved & remedied for you soon as I’m sure that there is only so much that you alone could do about it yourself?! What has management had to say about any of it?!

I hope that all else is going well for you and that you were able to delve more into getting your new place unpacked, & above all, continuing to enjoy it?!

Thank you for checking in this week to let us know how you are doing. Please continue to us know how everything is continuing to move along for you.

@PoliteOcean

Hiya,

Unfortunately, the state of public libraries, is that they are a place for the homeless to spend their days.  I will bet that 80% of our patrons are homeless.  They come in and use the computers, and read and make copies for whatever they need, send faxes, scan documents, and all the other usual things that people need.  Unfortunately, they also come in to sleep, eat on our tables, use the bathroom, be disgusting, and bring in their kids so they don't have to watch them and they can get on their phones and ignore the world.  I don't know how old their children are, but I would say they are 2nd grade and under.  I don't know if they should be in school or not or if their classes at their age have ended for the day.

Believe it or not, we are trained to be very careful around the children, as far as how we talk to them and what we say to them, or risk their mothers attacking us verbally and with physical actions that are threatening.  Management does take most of the brunt of dealing with these people and their children.  But the children are taught to be bad and taught that it is ok.  If they aren't literally watched every second, they will be damaging property, wreaking havoc with the books on the shelves, and stealing.  These people are let in day after day.  The situation never changes.

It is not for me.  But I will stay until I graduate from grad school.  I'm not interested in moving again and/or moving to another job.  I'm allowed to study at this job as long as I put the patrons first.  So, I'll stay, for now.

purpleTree4652 September 16th

@PoliteOcean

P.S. You asked about leaving their kids there and that is important so I wanted to respond to that.  They are not permitted to leave their children alone in the building and leave.  But, they come in and put their heads back on the chairs and lay in the bigger chairs and get on their phones and completely ignore their children.  They are also allowed to leave after their children have wreaked havoc, and not help to clean up one bit, and don't even apologize or say thank you.  They ignore the library staff completely unless we have something to say to their children.  Friday, I ran and told a child that he was not allowed to climb the shelves because he could fall and get hurt.  I used my nicest tone in a "speaking to a young child" way.  The mother got belligerent with me for speaking to her child.

Omg!?!…

I can totally see & understand your plight in this situation.

I honestly have never heard or seen anything like this in our public libraries here?! Up north or here in the south where I am…. (Homeless or not, they would totally get kicked-out of ours here) if it became that bad & unruly. Especially in these situations you’ve mentioned above.

But I can understand that you don’t want to make another change or leave a position that is overall (outside of this), working for you! And that makes complete sense.

I honestly have Sooo much more to say on this subject, but will end it with “Just stay safe, & hopefully the management will continue to do what’s overall right in keeping you all safe as well while you are working”.

Take care Tree, and thanks for taking the time to explain that impossible situation.

@PoliteOcean

What might be some challenges that you've encountered for yourself in providing the selfcare that you need?... In What ways were you able to incorporate selfcare time over the past week?... What are some "Feel good" things that you can do for yourself this weekend?

Some challenges that I encountered this week was just going back and forth picking up and dropping my kids off: to school, work, internship, pick up from school, pick up from work, pick up from internship, take back to school, cook dinner, pick up from school, ... So I wasn't able to incorporate much self- care, I was just trying to rest.

🌾  In what ways do you feel that you've made some personal progress so far since the beginning of the Month? (Whether personally, professionally, or otherwise)?!

My depression isn't as debilitating even though a lot of negative things happened this week. I got to my goal weight!

🍁 JUST FOR FUN:... Name a Movie or a Show that always puts you in a good mood?!

"Men in Tights",

🌞 What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?.... How were you able to work through your challenges?!

Struggles this week- my husband was getting worse this week. After falling down multiple times (and needing assistance to stand up), he dislocated his thumb and cut his forehead. I told his brother what was going on and implored him to do an intervention. He said he would talk to him. However, I am not sure that they did talk about the problem because when I came home, he was still drinking.

How do you leave someone that you've married to for a long time? I believed the vows, "through sickness and in health," but it is draining mentally, physically and emotionally.

@NotAllHere713

Hey there~

It sounds like you had quite the busy week.. I think you finding some time to rest between it all was an excellent form of self are.

Oh wow, that sounds like two really great things for you?! It’s so good that your depression hasn’t been as bad for you & that you’ve also reached your goal weight! Both can definitely take time & putting in the effort to get to where you want to be, so congrats to you on those! What things did you manage to do for yourself to achieve both of those goals?!

Oh wow it also sounds like your husband is definitely having some challenges & difficulties which I’m sure have become quite disruptive to the household on some level? Perhaps maybe even too much for his own brother to handle? It seems like he may need more professional help than you or his brother can give him on your own?! Either way, hopefully something can be done before things get any worse. Especially if there are children involved & around to witness his behaviors. As they should definitely be the most important thing in this situation & keeping them safe.

And it also seems like you might be starting to reach your own wits end yourself?! It might be time to reach out for more professional help & support with someone who can help him, as well help you to deal with him or decide what to do going forwards?… There are many various resources out there depending on where you are… you just have to take it one step at a time & start.

These might be a few links on where you can start to get help. Perhaps you can look over these and decide.

Good luck & best wishes.
