Cupsgiving 2024: Gratitude Train for Group Support

...See more Hello all,  Group Support is a significant part of 7Cups to get support. I have been part of Group Support for 7 years and witnessed how it evolved into a strong, inclusive, and therapeutic place to feel comforted, heard, and empowered.  Here are the 5 key lessons I picked up from my personal experience in group support.  * We are the group support. Group Support is not the responsibility of one person or a handful of users to maintain its therapeutic environment. It is a collective effort and everyone is responsible and accountable for it. * Compassion drives group support. We have different demographics and experience diverse challenges in our daily lives. But it is our thoughtful participation and compassion that help everyone to feel encouraged and empowered. It is our compassion that allows us to listen to someone attentively and make them feel heard. Because we know what it feels like to be unheard.  * The problem is the path. It is the core value of our community and every time there is a challenge in the group support, everyone comes together to figure out a way to tackle the problem and go above and beyond in their efforts to ensure the support.  * Continuous scaling of the support. I know many members of the group support who initially joined to share and receive support and later became part of giving support to others. Many of them became listeners and many continued to support through their member accounts in the group support. Every time someone feels heard and comforted, it means more hands joined to support others. Many inspired by group support experiences, created offline support groups for their neighborhood to bring support to their block, city, or town.  * Group Support builds connections. Many members are regulars of the group support space and they built some healthy and meaningful connections to rely on for support and accountability buddies for each other. I like the way how group support fosters care, support, upliftment, and companionship.  Group support is the outcome of the efforts including members, listeners, and leaders in different group support roles. So as we celebrate Cupsgiving, join us to recognize the efforts of the entire group support with a few special mentions for their above-and-beyond efforts.  Group Support Moderation We would like to share our gratitude for all our group support moderators for their careful and eye-to-detail work in the group chats. Their above-and-beyond efforts in moderation help to foster an inclusive and uplifting environment in the group support for all. Their proactive presence and swift actions help to de-escalate any potential disruptions to the therapeutic environment. Some of the awesome moderators of 2024 are: * @Communitymodanne * @Communitymodwillow * @CommunitymodEver  * @Suryansh, and * @Kaylabella as the top 5 moderators for their contributions in responding to the moderator requests form. 280 out of 385 requests were responded to by them until now this year.  Some of the other names included in the list are CommunitymodEden, CommunitymodIris, Kenzolena, CommunitymodCharlie, Lou73, and so on. The entire community is grateful to you for your help and support and for giving us a safe space to participate and feel empowered and heard.  Also thank you to all users who reported and helped moderators to de-escalate the situations that required immediate attention. Thank you for helping us keeping the group support safe and inclusive for all. Some of the key mentions are  * @Greenimpulse * @Heartsandrosesandpaws * @Mytwistedsoul * @Hotaru419 * @SleepingPersonForever * @Nephiliminblack * @Disneywoman * @Apeatrice Listener Support Requests We are also grateful to all listener group chat leaders for their active presence and guidance in the Listener Group Support chats. Their contributions and help in responding to Listener Support Requests helped many listeners feel heard, supported, and guided on their queries. Some of the proactive leaders of 2024 so far are:  * @Heartsandrosesandpaws * @JustSophia * @Fuechsin * @Jenna * @LittleBirdie30 are the top 5 Listener Group Support Leaders who offered peer support, chat support, and guidance to 89 listeners out of 229 requests submitted through the Listener Support Request form until now in 2024.  Also a big shout out to all listeners who reach out with their questions and seek help and guidance. It is okay to ask questions. Questions help us to explore, learn, and grow, so thank you for taking steps to grow in your listener journey.  We will continue to add more gratitude shares for our group support leaders here in the upcoming days. If you notice anyone doing great work or you are grateful for their efforts, please join us and share your appreciation and gratitude for them.  Thank you for uplifting and empowering group support chats..  @suryansh @emmae @hopedreamlove @Lou73 @Heather225 @Justsophia @Kieran000 @Kenzolena

...See more Hello again, I hope everyone is taking it easy this week.  I am back with a new story to tell about how Sharing Circle helped a participant. A couple of weeks ago, @powerfulOak2587  shared their experiences in the Sharing Circle here!  [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/MemberSharingCircles_2109/OaksSharingCircleExperience_334513/] This week, @ArborealGuitarist joined us to share their experiences in the Sharing Circle. Arbor is one of the regular participants of Sharing Circle and joined the community in Feb 2024  Arbor shares,  "Four months ago, I found Sharing Circle, a space I never knew I needed. At the start, I was hesitant, unsure if I could truly open up to anyone. But the warmth and acceptance that greeted me quickly helped to overcome those doubts. The circle's structured format provides a comforting framework, ensuring everyone gets a chance to share their thoughts and emotions. It creates a sense of safety and equality, making it easy to share thoughts and feelings without judgment. It is more like finding a family where everyone listens, understands, and supports each other. Through sharing my own experiences and listening to others, I have become a more empathetic and compassionate person. It helped me develop better listening skills and gave me the confidence to express myself authentically. It is a place where I feel truly heard and supported, and I am grateful for the positive impact it's had on my life. I would highly recommend Sharing Circle to anyone seeking a supportive space where they can connect with others, grow personally, and find their voice. Sharing Circle could be that space for them."  Join Sharing Circle with us today!  [https://www.7cups.com/chat/?c=2_e900fbcbe5db2b7bSaBpz_hkdPa6dGxRZeleXg]We look forward to seeing you there!

...See more Hello again, I hope everyone is taking it easy this week.  I am back with a new story to tell about how Sharing Circle helped a participant [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/SharingCircles_2066/TransformativeexperiencewSharingCircleJustmiles_333341/]. Last week, @Lolowise475 shared their experiences in the Sharing Circle here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/MemberSharingCircles_2109/SharingCircleisaLifelineforManyLolowise475_334136/]!  This week, @powerfulOak2587 joined us to share their experiences in the Sharing Circle. Oak is one of the regular participants of Sharing Circle and joined the community in July 2016.  Oak shares,  "I've been participating in the Sharing Circle for about a month now. Overall, I find it to be a format that works well. The opportunity to share openly and listen attentively to others has been valuable. However, there have been instances where some members seem overly strict about the seven-minute time limit, which can sometimes disrupt the flow of conversation and create a less welcoming atmosphere. But overall, I love Sharing Circle. My experiences from participating in Sharing Circle have significantly impacted my ability to articulate my thoughts and feelings. Hearing others share their experiences openly has inspired me to be more vulnerable in my sharing. Also, I gained insights into how others approach challenges, and that has provided me with practical tools to address my challenges and issues. In three words, I would describe the Sharing Circle as: Home, Supportive, Available. I would encourage and recommend the Sharing Circle to everyone. It is a safe and supportive space where individuals can connect and grow together. ...See more Welcome back community,  I am back with a new story to tell about how Sharing Circle helped a participant [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/SharingCircles_2066/TransformativeexperiencewSharingCircleJustmiles_333341/]. Last week, @Okeyyyy shared their experiences in the Sharing Circle here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/MemberSharingCircles_2109/AYearofHealingandGrowthintheSharingCircleOkeyyyy_333746/]!  This week, @Lolowise475 joined us to share their experiences in the Sharing Circle. Lolo is one of the regular participants of Sharing Circle and joined the community in January 2018.  Lolo has been part of sharing circle for over a year, and found comfort and support in the Sharing Circle. They shared that how Circle is a safe space where individuals can openly share their experiences. The sharing circle has become a cornerstone for Lolowise's emotional well-being. Lolo praised the sharing circle's caring and supportive atmosphere, noting that it provides a much-needed outlet for sharing their day and receiving valuable feedback and encouragement. The 24/7 availability of the Sharing Circle is a significant advantage, allowing for flexibility in participation. However, they would love to see more consistent hosts to continue to maintain the circle's structure. The impact of the Sharing Circle on Lolo's life has been pivotal. They have experienced reduced anxiety, loneliness, and depression, attributing these improvements to the ability to self-regulate and gain fresh perspectives on challenges. The circle has also been a source of warmth, comfort and practical suggestions and coping strategies, fostering a more positive mindset. They describe the experience as dependable, supportive, and empowering, highlighting the circle's role in their personal growth and resilience and encouraged others to explore and try the Sharing Circle. Lolo also highlights the importance of peer support groups in mental health. A space for open communication and emotional connection, the Sharing Circle has proven to be a valuable group chat for anyone seeking support and understanding. I appreciate Lolo for taking the time to share and open up about their sharing circle experiences and I believe as we continue to support each other, we will progress and heal together. ...See more Hello again,  Last week we introduced an initiative: How was your experience with Sharing Circle? [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/SharingCircles_2066/TransformativeexperiencewSharingCircleJustmiles_333341/] If you haven't checked yet, do check what @Justmiles has to say about their experiences here.  [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/SharingCircles_2066/TransformativeexperiencewSharingCircleJustmiles_333341/] This week, @okeyyyy joined us to share their experiences of growth and healing. Okeyyy is one of the regular participants of Sharing Circle and joined the community in December 2015. So in today’s edition, we will share @okeyyyy experiences in the Sharing Circle in their own words.  Okey shares, "It feels like just yesterday I took that first hesitant step into the Sharing Circle. It has been over a year since I first joined the Sharing Circle, and looking back, it feels like a pivotal point in my journey. This group has become a safe haven where I can be truly authentic and vulnerable. The opportunity to share my feelings without judgment has been incredibly healing. Every session is a chance to explore different facets of myself, and the support from others is invaluable. There have been times when words felt trapped within me, but the Sharing Circle provided the space to unlock those emotions and express them openly. The moderators create a supportive environment that feels almost like group therapy, where everyone is heard and understood. Thanks to the Sharing Circle, I have begun to break down walls and open up to others. Through consistent participation, I have noticed a significant shift in my perspective. I have become more comfortable stepping outside my comfort zone and trusting others. The insights gained from sharing my experiences have empowered me to tackle challenges with renewed confidence. While I know personal growth is a continuous process, the Sharing Circle has equipped me with the tools and support to navigate life's ups and downs. I feel more resilient in navigating life challenges now. I recommend the Sharing Circle to anyone seeking a supportive community. The combination of catharsis, enlightenment, and healing makes it an exceptional space for personal growth and emotional well-being. It is a space where you'll feel heard, understood, and empowered to be your authentic self." ...See more Where: Group Support room called Sharing Circle When: 24/7 - every hour on the hour a new session begins Who: all members are welcome to join the queue to share. Listeners are welcome to stay and support. Members and Listeners can host but must have attended 3 hosted Sharing Circles. Purpose: Sharing Circle is a supportive room where members may join the queue and take up to 7 minutes to share and get support. Each sharer should be given the space and time to share what is on their mind without judgment, questions, or advice. How it works: A host or community moderator will lead the session. When the queue is opened, you may type the asterisk [*] to join the queue. It is first come first served and will be opened in between shares until the queue is full. Please don’t try and join in the middle of someone’s share. The host will then keep track of the queue. We have a few guidelines that are different to other rooms so please take a moment to read. Following these guidelines ensures that everyone gets a fair time to share with minimal interruptions and that we create a supportive presence in our circle. For the sharer: * Please break your share into short sentences. * Please send ‘Trigger warning’ and the topic before the share. E.g: TW: eating disorder * Let us know if you would like an uninterrupted share or encouraging words * Please limit your share to under 7 minutes so everyone has the opportunity to share. (The host will give you a gentle 1 min remaining reminder) * Type ‘Over’ or ‘Done’ as a separate message to show that you have concluded your share For those supporting: * Please do not ask questions or give advice and keep supportive phrases short. * Please do not interrupt other shares’ to share your own story. * Please respect when someone has asked for an uninterrupted share and hold comments until they type over or done. You can read more about the guidelines HERE [https://tinyurl.com/SharingCircleGuidelines] Joining the Sharing Circle for the first time? Here are some top tips: * When you enter, take a moment to read the room. If someone is sharing, listen and offer support (not advice or your personal opinion). When the share is over you can say hi and introduce yourself. * Unsure of who is hosting? The blue banner at the top will tell you who is hosting. If there is no name in the banner, it is likely a member-powered session and the Community Moderators will be around to assist. * What can I share? You can share about your day, about a problem, something that is on your mind and we will listen and offer support and encouragement. Please be mindful about anything that might be triggering to others in the room like an eating disorder and give relevant trigger warnings. Please also be careful not to be graphic and focus on your feelings rather than details of trauma/abuse. If you share that you are in crisis, we will have to direct you to our crisis page [http://www.7cups.com/crisis] so that you can get the best support possible and we aren’t trained here to deal with crisis situations. * We want to keep this room as a supportive space so please be kind and thoughtful of your words and respect everyone in the room. There is a personal mute button that allows you to stop seeing messages from a user that is causing you distress. * If you want a less structured chat room space or want to talk immediately and the queue is long/full, you can try the Member Community room or Support room 24/7 or connect with a listener. * Community moderators are on hand to help keep the room safe - you can fill out the emergency form which is listed in the chatroom rules in the room. - Please note that the queue is first come, first served and there shouldn't be any swapping places as it can cause confusion and arguments and unnecessary wasted time. As the Sharing Circle runs 24/7, sometimes there is no one available to host so we run member-powered sessions. Everyone works together to run the session and ensure that everyone gets a fair turn to share and be supported. ------------------------- If you would like to learn how to become a host, you can complete the training here [http://www.tinyurl.com/bj8v3wus].
