Changes to Group Chat Structure to Foster Community
by ASilentObserver
Last post
October 29th
...See more Hi everyone, We have recently noticed a decline in support and participation in our group chats. While we appreciate everyone's contributions, we have found that the low activity level in different group chats has discouraged many members from engaging in conversations. Many enter the quieter chats and when they see it quiet, they tend to leave which is doing no good to offer them much-needed support.  To ensure that our group chats remain vibrant and inclusive support spaces for everyone, we are making a few adjustments: * Group Chats’ Pop-up Status: The following group chats will temporarily return to pop-up status. This means these group chats will be open during scheduled discussions or as per your request. To request these chats to open, these requirements need to be fulfilled:  * At least 3-5 participants are willing to participate in a specific group chat.  * Or, they can become room support or discussion leaders for specific group chats and host at least 2 weekly sessions.  * If you meet either of the requirements, you can inform a community moderator on shift to help you open a group chat for a specific period (let’s say 60 minutes). After completion of discussion, the room will be closed.    * Re-evaluation Period: We will monitor participation and reassess the situation every month.  * The group chats return to popup chats:  * Relationship Support * LGBTQ Support * Listener Community Room Also, we updated the rotation group chat schedule after assessing the participation & support levels. The new rotational schedule is as follows: * Monday & Tuesday: Loneliness Support * Wednesday: Anxiety Support * Thursday & Friday: Relationship Support * Saturday & Sunday: Trauma Support We hope this change will encourage more active support and engagement and make it easier for everyone to stay connected. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you.   @heather225

...See more Hello teens, Welcome to the Playground!  We are introducing a new group chat called: The Playground to fuel and support the games and lighthearted activities demand. If you are also looking for a fun escape filled with laughter and friendly competition then, this is your one-stop space for all things wordplay and games. We have everything from classic alphabet games and mind-bending trivia to hilarious Mad Libs and word scrambles.  Also if you are new to any game, we are all about creating a welcoming space where everyone can learn, play, and have a blast together. The rules of participation are simple:  * Anyone can participate and ensure to be nice, and respectful to all.  * Observe before play. If you are new to a game, ensure to observe how others are playing and keep your questions to be asked at the end of the session.  * Keep the competition healthy and in the team/ game spirit.  * Be yourself, have fun, and enjoy. A big shout-out and thank you to @CommunityModIris for the feedback and idea of bringing this chat together.  What are you waiting for?  Come say hi in our playground!

...See more Hello all As we completed the "Kindness, Courage, Connection" group support event, [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/GroupSupportCommunityEvents_2295/FebruaryGroupSupportEventKindnessCourageConnection_323080/] I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the collective efforts we made to raise awareness and foster discussions around: * Safer Internet Week: We covered the importance of creating a safe and positive online environment, fostering digital responsibility, and promoting respectful interactions. * Random Acts of Kindness Week: We celebrated the power of kindness, big and small, and its ability to create positive change in our communities and within ourselves. * Eating Disorder Awareness Week: We discussed the sensitive topic of eating disorders, raising awareness, promoting understanding, and fostering support for individuals struggling with these issues. The event was a good start, filled with insightful discussions and a sense of empowerment and belonging. It wasn't just a month-long endeavor but it served as a springboard for ongoing support.  We hosted a total of 96 sessions throughout the month for these events I was moved by the courage all shared in sharing their experiences and the kindness & support they offered one another. Also a special thank you to everyone for your efforts and encouragement: * The hosts and content creators: Your dedication, insights, and support led the way for meaningful conversations and created a safe space for sharing. Thank you to @rebekah, @KristenHR, @Fristo, @danCat1128 & team for your collaborative efforts, leadership, and careful efforts to make this event possible.  * The participants: Your active participation, open minds, empowerment, and willingness to share your stories made the discussions meaningful and impactful. Here are some of my key takeaways from this event: * The power of connection: Through sharing our stories and experiences, we create a sense of belonging and support, reminding everyone that they are not alone and we are together in this journey. * The importance of kindness: Simple acts of kindness can have a profound impact on ourselves and others, creating a ripple effect of positivity throughout our communities. * The need for awareness: By openly discussing topics like online safety and eating disorders, we can break down stigma, encourage open dialogue, and share resources with those in need. Also, the winners of the Share Your Positivity for Safer Internet Week Contest [https://www.7cups.com/forum/safe7cups/IVSafetyResourcesEvents_1059/ShareYourPositivityforSaferInternetWeekContest_323230/] are @YourCaringConfidant  & @Takitoteka with 11 & 9 upvotes. Everyone loved their balanced effort of creativity and spreading awareness in a caring way. Congratulations to both!  Please know that each individual has the power to make a difference. We encourage you to continue sharing your experiences, engaging in open dialogue, and seeking resources to support yourself and others. ...See more Hello everyone, I hope this post finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to talk about the recent mental health awareness group support event that we completed and the importance of ongoing support for those who struggle with mental health. I wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your participation and support. Your presence and engagement made an impact in raising awareness around mental health and reducing the stigma that often surrounds it. By coming together and sharing our stories, we showed that mental health is something that affects us all, and it's okay to seek help when we need it. We hosted 50+ discussions on mental awareness this month. A special shout out to all hosts who made this group support event possible and provided us reflective prompts and questions to think through and share & discuss our challenges and experiences together. Thank you to @azuladragon34 @beck1 @Erica @FrenchMarbles @luminousIceCream6924 @purpleunicorn18 @richuyulin @zaatarHoney @Lou73 @TabbyCat97 @Sunisshiningandsoareyou and all. I am grateful for the wonderful teamwork. However, completing an event like this is only the beginning. It's easy to feel inspired and motivated at the moment, but the true test of our commitment to mental health awareness comes in the days and weeks following the event. Let's hold ourselves accountable and continue to prioritize our mental well-being. Let's be there for each other and create a community of support and understanding. Remember, progress is not always linear. There may be setbacks and challenges along the way, but that's okay. What's important is that we keep pushing forward and advocating for ourselves and those around us. I truly believe that with each event like this, we are one step closer to a world where mental health is treated with the same importance and care as physical health. So let's keep the conversation going, let's keep learning and growing, and most importantly, let's keep supporting each other. Thank you again for being a part of this mental health awareness event. Together, we can create a community where mental health is a priority and support is readily available. ------------------------- Other posts you may want to check! * Brighten your day with Positivity Notes [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/General_2446/BrightenyourdaywithPositivityNotes_305584/] * Show and Tell: Share Your Favorite Eats and Treats [https://www.7cups.com/forum/GroupSupport_168/GroupSupportCommunityEvents_2295/ShowandTellShareYourFavoriteEatsandTreats_304719/] * Discover Calmness Within-- The Calm Box for Your Mental Health [https://www.7cups.com/forum/GroupSupport_168/ParticipantsCorner_2318/DiscoverCalmnessWithinTheCalmBoxforYourMentalHealth_304581/] * Welcome to the affirmations station! ...See more Hey everyone! I thought it would be fun to start a thread where we can all share pictures of our favorite food and drinks. I don't know about you, but I appreciate good food, and seeing what others enjoy can be a great source of inspiration. Personally, I prefer moderately spicy food or not spicy. But I also have a sweet tooth, and I'm always up for trying a new dessert or pastry. I like cookies, cakes, ice-creams, candies, chocolates, etc. As for drinks, I'll prefer coffee but also occasionally I enjoy chai. Are you a Team Coffee or Team Tea? But enough about me, I want to hear from all of you! What's your go-to comfort food? What are your favorite foods and drinks? Do you have any pictures to share? I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! And remember, let's keep things friendly and respectful. We all have different tastes, and that's what makes life interesting. Note: For all who are struggling with eating disorders or body image, please know you are not alone and we are all here with you to listen and support you. We will grow together!
