Changes to Group Chat Structure to Foster Community

...See more Hi everyone, We have recently noticed a decline in support and participation in our group chats. While we appreciate everyone's contributions, we have found that the low activity level in different group chats has discouraged many members from engaging in conversations. Many enter the quieter chats and when they see it quiet, they tend to leave which is doing no good to offer them much-needed support.  To ensure that our group chats remain vibrant and inclusive support spaces for everyone, we are making a few adjustments: * Group Chats’ Pop-up Status: The following group chats will temporarily return to pop-up status. This means these group chats will be open during scheduled discussions or as per your request. To request these chats to open, these requirements need to be fulfilled:  * At least 3-5 participants are willing to participate in a specific group chat.  * Or, they can become room support or discussion leaders for specific group chats and host at least 2 weekly sessions.  * If you meet either of the requirements, you can inform a community moderator on shift to help you open a group chat for a specific period (let’s say 60 minutes). After completion of discussion, the room will be closed.    * Re-evaluation Period: We will monitor participation and reassess the situation every month.  * The group chats return to popup chats:  * Relationship Support * LGBTQ Support * Listener Community Room Also, we updated the rotation group chat schedule after assessing the participation & support levels. The new rotational schedule is as follows: * Monday & Tuesday: Loneliness Support * Wednesday: Anxiety Support * Thursday & Friday: Relationship Support * Saturday & Sunday: Trauma Support We hope this change will encourage more active support and engagement and make it easier for everyone to stay connected. ...See more Hello teens, Welcome to the Playground!  We are introducing a new group chat called: The Playground to fuel and support the games and lighthearted activities demand. If you are also looking for a fun escape filled with laughter and friendly competition then, this is your one-stop space for all things wordplay and games. We have everything from classic alphabet games and mind-bending trivia to hilarious Mad Libs and word scrambles.  Also if you are new to any game, we are all about creating a welcoming space where everyone can learn, play, and have a blast together. The rules of participation are simple:  * Anyone can participate and ensure to be nice, and respectful to all.  * Observe before play. If you are new to a game, ensure to observe how others are playing and keep your questions to be asked at the end of the session.  * Keep the competition healthy and in the team/ game spirit.  * Be yourself, have fun, and enjoy. Room Supporter: Updated Requirements and Application

...See more Hi everyone, I hope you are doing well. I am glad to announce that we are making some changes to the requirements to become Room Supporter! What is a Room Supporter? Room Supporter is one of the key roles in the Group Support Chatroom. This role focuses on providing quality listening and support to community members in the group chat rooms. Room Supporters foster healthy and supportive conversations in the chat rooms to ensure everyone entering the room feels welcomed, empathized, validated, comfortable, and included in the group. This role is suited for both members and listeners because our members are also amazing and supportive listeners in the chat rooms to provide support to each other. How do I become a Room Supporter? Step 1. Requirements to Become a Room Supporter A. For a LISTENER, Check your profile to make sure you meet the following requirements: * No “Newbie” badge i.e. being a listener for 4+ weeks * Have 2+ Group Support Chats** B. Step 4: If you passed the training, you will be listed as a “Room Supporter” on the leader board of focused sub-communities. You will be notified 1-1 by the Group Support Leader. Step 5: Visit your focused chat rooms and get to know your community members and start supporting them. Once you are a Room Supporter for at least a month & if you meet the other requirements, you can then apply to become a Chatroom Moderator! I would like to announce a really exciting initiative that those in charge of the community moderation team have created so that we, as community moderators, can get your feedback about how we’re doing. It’s called the… Community Moderator Feedback Form! What is this form? This form is a way for you to give your thoughts about how us community mods rate on a few different factors i.e. professionalism, fast response to PMs (... I know I suffer from this one), etc. Isn’t this just a report form? No! This is not a replacement for reporting. When you report a moderator, it is for a specific behavior or situation. This form is for overall feedback. But Lou, how do I evaluate you if you’re in charge of the form? I am not in charge of the form. I’m just the little robot messenger. Admin will be reading the form and providing us feedback based on your responses! Will the Comm Mods see my responses and know I sent them? Nope! While we encourage you to put your username so we know someone isn’t using the form in bad faith (for example, spamming because they’re unhappy with the mod), your username will not be shared with us. How is this useful? This can give us mods valuable feedback about our different moderation styles, where we can improve as individual moderators, and where we can improve as a team! Can I evaluate more than one moderator? Absolutely! To do so, please submit one form for EACH mod for whom you would like to leave feedback, or if you would like to leave feedback for the Community Mod Team overall, there is an option to leave feedback for the whole team. Some things to remember * Be honest! Remember, the best feedback is honest, thorough, clear, kind, and constructive. We can’t grow from mean statements. * Think generally not specifically. Make sure you’re evaluating the moderator based on all of your experiences, not just one time. * You should only evaluate the moderators that you feel you can give a fair evaluation to. Unless you’re awake 24/7 (I hope not!), you won’t have met every moderator. In fact, you might see some names on this last and think, “Who is that?!” Please only fill out the form for moderators that you have been around many times. ...See more As Halloween weekend is starting and the winds are getting spookier, 7 Cups has received a Community Mod Challenge to help you stay alert! To solve the Halloween Mystery, follow the following instructions: * Look for 5 special forum threads within the 7 Cups community. It might be a pumpkin hunt but we trust you latte to find them all! * After solving each bit of the mystery by answering our special spooky riddles, fill out THIS [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdoBJweZkHDLRwTM_Od6IClv7sXmvMDkYwUN1zWYBMXYKb_4Q/viewform] form with your username and the answer. * You will soon get a Community Mod visiting your PMs to communicate whether you guessed right or have to try again, but that is not all. * Each winning stepping stone helps you get closer to cracking the hidden mystery. With every correct answer, you will receive a “piece” of the mystery via the Community Mod who reaches out to you. * After collecting all 5 pieces you are to use your own sorting skills to knit up and crack the mystery. Use the same form linked above to show us your solved solution to win 500 cheers from the very own 7 Cups treasure chest! Some rules to remember: * Do not cheat or heck things! Community Mod Award Nomination Results

...See more Hello lovely 7Cups community! I don't know how many of you will remember this but back in April, I began something called the Community Mod Awards. The community mods awards was a fun way of appreciating the amazing work that the community moderators do for us on 7Cups. When you read through the different nominees for the awards, you might notice that there are some nominations for community moderators who are no longer around on 7Cups but (Link, Taylor, Mae and Sage) but I have chosen to mention their nominations for the sake of respect for the work that they put in during their time on here. Some of the name of the categories for awards are funny and some are more sensible. These ideas were inspired by an amazing group of teens during a conversation in one of the group support rooms. There were 16 categories that you could nominate between 1 and 3 community moderators for. You will notice that the amount of votes for each category is different but this is because some users voted for more than 1 community moderator or not at all. To not spam each post with massive paragraphs, I will be dedicating each post on this thread to 4 different categories. I will announce the winner, 2nd place and mentions for other community moderators who were nominated.
