Username Stories!🌞
Hiya everyone, I hope this new month brings each one of us lots of peace and joy!💖
Okie I'll try not to blabber too much and come straight to the point! xD
Soooo, we know that when we sign up on 7 cups, we are assigned an auto-generated username because anonymity first hehe.
And of course, we can change our username from our settings page, for upto first 2 weeks and then after filling a form and providing a valid reason. Which is how there's so many people here who have come up with almost random looking words from the English language, that when put together bring us a spectacular "username", which is often synonymous to their personality, and of course, a major part of our identity here at 7 cups.
Purely an observation, and of course, it could've been deeply impacted by the "roles" each account plays here, "listeners" on here to listen to people, support and be an encouraging presence reigniting hope for those that need it, have a more "upbeat" sorta username, usually. (Usually being the keyword)
On the other hand, I notice some "member" account usernames that aren't as "upbeat" sounding, which also makes complete sense because on our member account, we are likely more vulnerable and embracing of the not-so-happy-and-okay-us too. (Again, usually being the keyword, and a personal observation entirely)
Indeed, there's extremes but then there's also a broad spectrum, and we are all spread out on it embracing our unique-ness and authenticity, describing it as how we see it and are comfortable with. 🌞 I love coming across different usernames that attempt to personate the person behind the screen in one or more ways, whatever way it speaks to *them*. To each their own, always!
However, yes it makes me wonder how our usernames shape up our identity here, how we see ourselves and also for others and how we'd like them to see us too.
A username speaks a lot about the person, I feel, the more-thought-out ones, specially. Ones with some context and with a backstory!
(I tried xD but fortunately, I am me and I'll complete the entire story even after saying "long story short"~ ooh and sometimes even with sub-plots and individual character-development arcs 🤣)
Alrighty, now some questions to get your brain-juices flowing-

As for my username, Phoenixthepoised embodies a powerful blend of transformation and tranquility. The phoenix represents rebirth and resilience, illustrating the strength to rise anew after setbacks. "The poised" signifies a graceful, balanced presence, reflecting the importance of staying centered amid life's chaos. Together, this name conveys a journey of inner growth, empowerment, and a dedication to navigating challenges with both strength and compassion. It’s a reminder to embrace change while remaining anchored in self-awareness.
If I were to shift to something more reflective of my current state, I might choose “MindfulMaverick.” I’ve been focusing on living more in the moment and embracing my unique path. It feels like a fun way to express that duality of being both present and unapologetically myself!
One of the most captivating usernames I’ve come across is @Sunisshiningandsoareyou (this is for real, you're hard to miss and I love seeing you around in the forums!) is such a joyful username! It really captures that warm, positive vibe. Whenever I see it, I can't help but smile knowing there’s a nurturing spirit behind it who spreads joy and support to everyone around them! 🌞✨

i didn't really think about bunnies as much as i do now lol. i was more obsessed with unicorns and penguins growing up weirdly (very contradicting creatures ikr)😂💗 uhhmmm... I like to go by Erased cause it describes my biggest disability well, and this me. With my level of anterograde amnesia, majority of what I go through in life in day-to-day basis is erased. The past 20 years have mostly been erased. So, couldn't really ask for a more fitting name. 7cups seemed to mainly come up with two part user names so I wanted to go with the same formula, hence OneErased. Guess one is cause the rarity of my condition.
I don't really remember usernames and I don't know anyone in here well enough to really take part in the rest of the questions.

When I first became a Listener, my user name reflected my mood at the time. You see . . . It was a dark and stormy night when I came to 7 Cups for the very first time. The Autumn leaves were crisp and blowing. The moonless night was chilling and threatening to drop rain at any minute. I felt as gloomy as the night. I thought I needed someone to talk to so I searched and found 7 Cups. I really needed someone to listen and I found the place. My Listener was empathetic and very present. When I finished, I realized that I wanted to give back. I decided that s a fitting name for me at that moment was Stormy Times. Eight years later there is something that I know. Helping others helps us. So, at some point I knew my user name was not me anymore and I asked to have it changed to reflect my new mood. I am Whimsical Whimsy. Yes, I am.
