What would you do...

carefulWest6083 September 15th

If you were given a new life, what would you do differently?

Or would you not change a thing?

Please share.

Prioritize a greater balance between school/work and personal life, invest more time in meaningful relationships, actively pursue passions outside of working in a dead-end job that I hate just to never make quite enough to support me or my family because we never know when inflation is gonna rear its head and screw everyone over; prioritize physical and mental health and just be more open to new experiences and opportunities; in essence, would live more intentionally and not focus so hard on regrets and mistakes made but instead focus on what has always mattered the most to me.

Note to self:

"Not focus so hard on regrets and mistakes made".

I would tell myself to go with my gut and not do what others impose on me. Even if it's a wrong choice it's always better than doing something out of choice.

And how about now, are you planning on going with your gut more?

go back and forth- I love the person I am so I don’t know if I’d want to change what got me here, but I do often wish I’d spoken up for myself and expressed myself more growing up :,)

@carefulWest6083

i would not change anything. Not because I’ve had a “perfect” life… but because I haven’t. Everything happens for a reason. and if I were to take away something, then I might ruin that reason without ever knowing.

If we switch the first "change" to "accept" and the second "change" to "improve", how does that sound to you?

@carefulWest6083 wont change a thing

Kingoflaughter5 September 21st

@carefulWest6083 There is so much I want to change, and it's all for the people I care about.

I've hurt a lot of people I care about through my inaction. I never intently did anything to hurt their feelings, and I think I found some kind of security in that. But it was in the lack of checking up, the feelings I vomited before I truly understood them myself, the missteps I completely missed because I didn't do it "on purpose." I wish I could go back and do something. These were people who's only sin was to love and care for me.

It's impossible to go through life without causing some sort of pain, but I wish I could've caused a little less.

I find your response very honest and moving. Thank you.

And I agree, just little less pain.

And what about now? Do spend more time with them?

I myself wish I could spend time with my parents. We're too far apart.
