Ghost story?
I have a few but I'll share one of the most creepiest thing I've encountered.
This happened over a decade ago. My family had just moved into a three-story house that had been vacant for a few years prior. My sister and I, both in our late teens, sat down for dinner as the evening sun began to set. We had a habit of closing all the room doors, so before we even took a bite, we closed them all. As we sat at the dining table, we heard footsteps descending the stairs.
My sister looked startled and whispered, "Did you hear that?" I chose to ignore her at first, but then the sound of doors opening and closing echoed up the stairs from the third floor. Each room was meticulously opened and closed on each storey.
As the footsteps continued their descent, the rhythm of the doors echoed through the house - third storey, second storey, then a brief pause before nearly reaching the first level. A sense of dread crept over us as we realized that there was no one in sight. We nervously called our parents, insisting they return home. They were out for a date night, and we were too terrified to explain over the phone.
When our parents came home, they knew something was amiss. My father, a skeptic, grabbed a knife from the kitchen and climbed the stairs to investigate. Strangely, all the doors remained shut, yet one door to my other sister's room was slightly ajar – the sister who had just given birth to a baby girl.
We watched my father cautiously enter the room, but he returned moments later with a puzzled look. There was no sign of an intruder, everything was in place, but as if something - or someone - deliberately left the door ajar. He tried to dismiss it as a prank, but we all knew deep down that something unexplainablqe had occurred.
@FluffyBakedPotato and you didn't pack your bags and leave @_@ you're brave! Thanks for sharing loved reading it ^^
@FluffyBakedPotato
Oh my goodness. I bet y'all were terrified!!
Oh boy! I really do love these kinds of stories!
When I was young, maybe around 6-7, I was at my grandma's house playing a card game with my brother in the dining room, and when I looked over to the archway (I hadn't heard anything, just a glance around the room really as I took a drink) I saw a tall, semi-transparent man in a Camo uniform!
I -ran- from that room clear to my grandma's, very scared as I told her what happened!
That's the only story I can fully remember myself, except for another that happen when I was a toddler which I am willing to share if anyone wants to hear it! I've always been really interested in the paranormal, it's just so interesting to think of what else is on this Earth!
@IExistISuppose
yeah sure tell us 2nd one
Alright!
When I was around 1-2, my mom heard me crying a lot in my room. When she went to check on me, I was very scared and pointing to my closet. When my mom asked me what was wrong, I just said "monster", except that I couldn't have known what a monster was because I was 1-2. I never slept in that room again.
(This was also the house my mom and aunt had these super weird feelings in, soo–)
@IExistISuppose
Oh wow. Is there a history of anyone in your family who was in the service?
@TheGirlWhoFeltTooMuch
Yes, actually! My grandma's brother and I think her father, as well as more extended family!
When I told my grandma about it she actually told me I could've saw her brother, because he usually was around in that back area!
Think I've got a cool one from when I was in college. I worked at a mall in a very small shop, it had a checkout by the door and 2 aisles.
@Sunnovacow
Oh wow. I wonder what was there on that land before the mall?
@tanish0007 I like this question. Alright so I used to have to work very far away but my car broke down, so I bought a very pricey electric bike in the meantime and had to ride everyday very far to work. Now part of my trip meant I had to go through a very rough crime area, an very early in the morning too like 4am-5am. There happened to be an alternative however, there's this massive Catholic cathedral and huge burial grounds that if I cut through I could avoid the crime area. I found out that even common criminal trash won't go into a graveyard at night so I began to cut through there every single day for 6 years straight. Now if ever you're going to see a ghost it would be in a super massive graveyard, at night, all alone by yourself right? You'd be wrong! In over 6 years of cutting through the darkest, biggest, foggiest, spookiest looking graveyard you've ever seen, not once did I ever seen any ghost, zombie or otherwise. Oddly I was a million times safer there than out on the city streets. So I know ghosts don't exist!
@genericbeing hehe ^^' this is making me feel safe xD
@BlueDarkAurora Well its true lol
haha interesting and maybe ur timings are not matching with ghostsð¤£ð¤£ why not try going at 2 or 3 am
@genericbeing
I have always found graveyards to be very peaceful and calming for me. Growing up, we lived not far from a graveyard, the one my great grandparents were buring in, and I would go over there and sit at the bench by their tombstones and write my poetry. When I was older, and first into photography, graveyards were my favorite place to take shots. Some of my best shots were at graveyards. I never once saw anything in a graveyard, but graveyards are blessed land. I have, however, seen many ghosts in many other places, but never in a graveyard either.
@TheGirlWhoFeltTooMuch I would do something similar, I would visit my Grandpas grave and feed nacho chips to the crows, and its similar with me a large graveyard fairly nearby. Very peaceful places.
@tanish0007 This happened to my aunt and uncle.
Years ago like back in the 90s my aunt and uncle moved into an apartment. My cousin, their oldest daughter, was probably about five or six years old. Anyways one evening while they were laying in bed falling asleep they felt someone get on their bed. They both assumed it was their daughter, so they went to sleep. The next day either my aunt or uncle asked her why she got out of her bed and came into their room. She looked at them puzzled and told them she never got out of her bed!
My family also owns an older home from the 1890s. I've never experienced anything myself, yet family and guests have mentioned feeling a ghostly presence when inside the house. I'm not exactly sure what a ghost is, yet I do believe they're real and love chatting about this type of stuff. Thanks for posting this :)
that's amazing..why don't u explore that home yourself
@tanish0007 I have. Been over there plenty of times, yet have not noticed anything supernatural myself. I think they like me lol.
I love this post! (I only watch Scary Ghost or horror movies)… been watching them since I was 3 & started doing so with my grandmother.
———-
1.) But anyway… although I’ve never really had anything ghostly happen to me personally… My son’s grandfather passed away when he was only 4yrs old. Several years later (when he was about 6-7), we moved away to a new state & I had made an enlarged photo of him & his grandfather to hang on his wall in his new bedroom… Well I was taking a nap in my bedroom one afternoon, and I was awakened & could hear my son talking in his bedroom. I knew he was the only one in there so didn’t think much of it. But next thing I know, my son came running into my room rather frightened & when I asked him what was wrong, he said “I was just in my room talking to Grandpa’s picture & He “Winked” at me”! ….
Needless to say it spooked me out, but kids can see things we can’t when they are young like that.
—————
2.) Another instance is my own grandparents lived in an old home and my aunt & uncle (their two youngest kids were still living at home at the time even though they were grown)…. But the story when they bought it was supposedly someone had passed away there prior…
Well my uncles room was right across the hallway from my aunts room and one night he awoke because he had heard something coming from my aunts bedroom… and when he looked up across the hallway, he could see a woman dancing (ballerina style) in the dark!… He called out to my aunt to ask her if she was okay & what was she doing, and when he turned the light on the woman could no longer be seen. He thought it was my aunt sleep walking, but come to find out, she wasn’t even home that night!
————-
wow second one is 😨 scary
@PoliteOcean Ballerina @_@ why can I imagine that xD A ghost in the dark is scary enough but one that is dancing x_x

@tanish0007 :O *-*
@tanish0007 so idk if this counts but i had this budgie his name was kiwi and he passed in 2021 (i was maybe 11 i think) and he got sick. and every night i remember hearing tapping on my ceiling in my room until his passed. it happened again when another budgie of mine passed in january. really weird
oh and i remember one night, so i had my bedroom door closed (this was prob a couple months ago) and i wake up in the middle of the night to see a flashlight flashing in my robe pocket (i have robes hanging from the door) and when i checked in the morning there was so flashlight. i’ve seen a lot of things at night like when i was younger i saw a floating ipad by the stairs at night-
one more small one. so in the house we wear slippers cuz my mom doesn’t like bare feet on the floor. sometimes at night ill hear slippers on the floor and the sound of someone coming upstairs 😨.
but yea lol
About one year back, when I was around 21,i thought now I was big and mature enough to try out the *** Mary experiment. I was like let's conquer my fears. So i go into the bathroom,at around 10 o clock and i read many articles before going, most of them said bathroom is a good place and a time bw 10 and 3 is best and everyone should be quiet and lights should be off. So i went inside, switched off the lights and yeah it also said on articles , like some of them said to say it 3 times some say 5 and said 12. I decided to say 10 times. And before I started I listened around me for the normal sounds naturally, I could hear droplet of water falling down into the bathtub but it was slow, else it was no noise, I could notice these more because I couldn't see anything not even the mirror, cause article said it will be more strong if you don't even light a candle. So there I go start saying it. Now comes the weird part. I won't exaggerate it or call it horror or something but something weird happened when I reached the 8th time. I stopped. Well the tap was close tightly so that I could only hear a droplet per second, but strangely enough I started hearing 4-5 droplets per second and I got goosebumps , it was strange feeling that I was not alone anymore. So I completed the other two chants and then barged out.
@courageous1241 were you able to sleep after that :O?
Yea, I'm a like sleephead, no matter what happens, sleep always comes to me xD but i get you mean. Like I said I was 21 and big enough not to be scared about that very much. At this point I'm just curious that in a scientific world like this, can ghosts exist. So I don't get scared I get curious.
@courageous1241 that's a blessing lol and yes experiences like that are scary in the moment but when you look back at it from a safe distance xD it causes a lot of curiosity.
