What do you do for a living? Does it make a difference? Does it matter?
Do you like your job? Do you have dreams of something else? Do you feel you make a difference? Do you want to make a difference? Are you happy just clocking in and going home and that’s it?
For example I’m a housekeeper at a hospital. I work on the long term care unit. I’m around old people all day. I have dreams of becoming a medical assistant. I’m going later in the summer/fall. I feel like I’m making a difference sometimes. I will try to help with tasks I’m allowed to do. Like putting on an old ladies earrings or necklaces. Help them change the tv channel or get batteries for remotes. Those are a few things I can think of.
I’m ready for a fresh start. I want to actually feel like I’m helping out more then I do.
@Muse4apoem that's actually an amazing job to do ❤❤ if it wasn't for care workers like you, well I wouldn't survive so thankyou very much ❤ and good luck with learning a new skill to help people even more got a great great person ❤
Me I'm retired at 23 😎 lives in a fully staffed mansion😎 with a huge enclosed garden😎
Ok so it is a mansion, but turned into a old folks nursing home, I'm a resident. There even though I'm only 23 years old.
I can't work cause trigger warning - disabilities... My spine is broken and not completely fixable, I'm a double amputee, and paralysed from the waist down, also missing half of my fingers now😥 so yeah I can't work, but life is still goooooodd, and I still have my funny bones😁😁😁😁😁❤
I’m actually certified to draw blood. But I’m unable to switch jobs. I went to school for that. It’s a very long story so med. assistant will go together with it. My certification is still active right now I renewed it.
@Tinywhisper11 I love that you look for something positive in the midst of the negative!
@RisingPhoenix1987 awww thanks ❤❤ noone has ever gone blind by looking on the bright side of life😁❤
@Muse4apoem
My day job is fine. I have all these hobbies and pursuits though. If I could make any of them take off, I'd love to set sail on creative stuff for a living. Then again, I'm probably better off making sure I stay busy to some extent. I literally never get bored, but I do get lazy occasionally
@Torean lazy is my favourite pass time😁
I do wood work. Furniture and carvings. It doesn't make a difference really. I mean yeah people get furniture or decorations but that's about it.
I think at one time I might have wanted to do something to make a difference. I used to think about getting into law enforcement but mental health and physical issues would be an issue. I work for myself so I am ok with clocking in and then going home and that's it
I have to saying that being a housekeeper in a hospital is a good thing and helping old people with the little things makes a big difference in their lives. That to me is commendable because not everyone would have the patience for it.
I would love to make things! It’s other people around that ruin it for me. I love the residents I like helping them I’ve cleaning for a long time. I just didn’t know how personal this job would be but I like it. I feel kinda helpless on things. I won’t be with old people all the time but that’s okay.
@Muse4apoem It does seem to be that way for a lot of things tbh. Other people can ruin it. Which probably sounds horrible for me to say but I'm just not really a fan of people
I can’t help residence to the bathroom, change them or get them out of bed.
I will never learn that sorta thing as far as I know. I’ll be doing clinic work.
I like weaving rag rugs from a loom out of recycled fabric. I have one made from my dad’s shirts and one from his army uniform. (He passed away in 2014.) I used to make bags and wall hangings from that also. I made a Christmas tree wall hanging out of a old skirt of mine. I used to sell all my craft stuff.
I like making macramé jewelry necklaces and bracelets. I used to macramé the ends of the wall hangings sometimes.
I’ve made lye soap a few times that was pretty interesting. I wish I knew a better technique to it but was fun.
I might be forgetting something else that I make. I make unusual things but I do like it to be useful and pretty!
@Muse4apoem Yeah that's probably something CNAs would do more than medical assistants
Yeah I’ve added roses to it and different oils. It lasts a long time also. I’m sorry for your loss also I miss my dad.
@Muse4apoem Thank you ❤️ Roses and essential oils sound nice
Do you like your job? Do you have dreams of something else? Do you feel you make a difference? Do you want to make a difference? Are you happy just clocking in and going home and that’s it?
I currently don’t work but am working on getting and holding onto/keeping another job, one that I’ll like and where I can help people and make enough money to financially help and support myself (expenses, bills, my life, etc)
Yes I have dreams of something else. I dream of a more happy, healthy, peaceful, friendly society where everyone accepts everyone as well as themselves for who they are and no violence or corruption or anything like that existing and where people don’t have to work all day at a job for years where they can easily lose that job for so many reasons.
Yes I want to and feel like I do make a difference and also believe anyone can make a difference whether they work or not and that every difference no matter what is important and should be appreciated.
While I’d be happy clocking in and clocking out and going home I’d also be happy helping out or talking about whatever with whoever as long as they’re kind and friendly and respectful.
I try to make sure I get better and better when I do switch jobs. At least I try too. I know how hard it is without a job I had 3 jobs one time. That’s because my hours was so crazy at each one of them. I hope you find something you love.
@Muse4apoem: Thanks for hoping for me :)
