Fibromyalgia struggles
Can anyone relate? I've been dealing with fibromyalgia over 20 years. Having a flare up right now because the temperature went down overnight minus 20 degrees. Ugh!
@chicaloca15 Yes I think many here will be able to relate with this. The change of seasons can make many of us feel worse and flare up.
What do you find helps?
How does fibromyalgia affect you?
Regular exercise helps me and getting good sleep. Easier said than done, right? lol.
I take a joint supplement that helps my arthritis and I take magnesium at bedtime.
I live in Florida so one might assume the climate would be great for me here. I thought it would be better and at first it was going well.
i could walk at night where I lived before so I got my walks in. The warm weather was helping. Its not safe to walk at night where I live now.
I've lived here for 3 years. I see that I have the reverse problem that I had in Kentucky. I was in bed a lot because of the cold weather in the winter there. My health also kept declining because I was being abused by my husband.
I was finally able to get away from him last year.
I lost everything including my car when I left him.
We've had an incredibly HOT summer here even for Florida. As is typical with fibromyalgia, I feel terrible with temperature extremes hot or cold. The problem I ran into this summer was it was too hot to walk outside. I have had really a BAD setback. Summers are like winters here. The heat forces us indoors.
We had a huge swing in temps when the hurricane moved in almost a week ago and the temperatures have been up and down and all around with this storm.
I have been struggling all summer just to take care of myself. I have barely been able to shower wash my hair get groceries and make my appointments.
This has been going on since June. It was very really hard before especially without a car but now but now has become extremely difficult.
I have a lot of anxiety and pray all the time asking God to give me the strength to get my shower so I'll be able to go get some food.
I have no family or friends here. I'm going to a new church Sunday. (hopefully) I really need a church family.
Thank you for reading! ❤️
@chicaloca15 I totally understand Fibromyalgia can be a terrible problem. How did you get on with Sunday?
Hi Misty! 😊
I'm sorry I just saw your message- my phone is laggy and I'm still getting used to the forums here.
I really love my church and have joined recently actually. I'm so grateful and happy to have a church family. It's gonna take time to get to know people but it's going well.
How have you been doing?
@chicaloca15 it's ok, I'm fine and we are all still getting used to the forums lol! Good to hear how you are getting on with the Church.
@chicaloca15
weather really can mess me up i have fibro but also two types of nephropathy too. so i get what you saying about weather affecting you when it changes too. were i live weather changes a lot even within same day. meds help me very little so just have to deal with what ever happening within my body. some days better then others too. take good care of your self be kind to you when you are in a flare too.
Hi Paws 😊
I apologize for my late reply. Thank you for your kind words 💕
I don't have anything to take either for pain so I know how that goes...
Do you struggle with chronic fatigue? I had to cut out caffeine because I had a flare up (again) of acid reflux disease. It's hard to get things done without caffeine. It's a struggle 😬
@chicaloca15
yes and few other things we get sick a lot at times too. we try to keep in a good mindset but this weekend was hard we not been on most it so why answering you today.
I can relate! I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2017, however I am not sure of my diagnosis. Nonetheless, I really struggle with fatigue and chronic pain. Hugs <3
@Kait
yes it a hard thing to deal with and never fully out of pain. so little known about fibro too. but new understanding we read about is they now believe it starts in the brain then carried through all the nerves in the body. sadly it connected to many other health issues. my eye doctor medical one was telling me that it even affects the nerves in the eyes and can even make blood vessels in the eyes thin and that can lead to bleeding in back of eye he now seeing me every 3 months to watch that. so they learning more about fibro and hope soon more about how to treat it fully.
