I suffer from Grand Mal Seizures, very violent Seizures the pretty much land me in the hospital every time. In the last year I've been in what we call status epilepticus which is when a patient doesn't stop seizing and because of that I was i was intubated and put in a medically induced coma 9 times. It's horrible the pain that I go into after having my Seizures.. every time I say it feels like I got hit by a truck!
This all started 5 years ago suddenly out of nowhere I was in a club and I had my first seizure, I guess the flashing lights caused it. I used to have weekly if not daily Seizures back to back, I've tried multiple anti epileptic medications until I found the right one and now I have maybe 1 or two every 2 or 3 months. I'm so happy that it's decreased, although I feel I walk on eggshells because the biggest triggers to my Seizures are stress number one, lack of sleep number two and flashing lights ( not all the time) and lastly alcohol ( not all the time )
In the end as much as it's debilitating and can be life threatening when I have a seizure im grateful they've subsided.
I have a genetic disorder DUCHENNE MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY It was diagnosed few years back. The disease hhas various symptoms like in first stage of life the person walks over toes, unable to walk easily.I am facing continuous weakening of muscles and shortening of the tendon tissue. Facing body pain . Unable to walk.
@CallMeNaman2002, I know this is a pretty old thread, but I wanted to reply. I have a similar disorder (similar in that it's genetic, degenerative and involves muscles.) It's called Spino Cerrebellar Ataxia Type 1. I just wanted to reach out and see how you're doing. and say hi. Hi!
Hey, just saw this.. I'm doing fine, but in aspect of my disorder not going well. A lot is happening. Nvm how about you? Tell me about your disorder pm me if u need to discuss. I hope you're not an adult member, then we might not be able to message personally :P
@timelessme
I have types 1 diabetes which is very fragile. I have had it since I was 6.I have severe depression, anxiety, bipolar, I'm always hungry, I have lock jaw. I have acid reflux disease. I'm a slow thinker and it takes me awhile to understand things.
I guess this can be seen as a difficult question as your answer depends on your definition of disability. But that being said, I consider disabilities to be any deviation from what is considered the healthy norm that causes you issues or problems.
My disabilites are depression, anxiety, ADHD, and stuttering.
What about you? what do you consider a disability and how to do manage them? I find that accepting your disability (especially if its a permenant or long term one) is key to learning to manage it. Being mad and upset about having your disability is normal, but i feel like it can prevent you from truly taking steps in learning to deal with and manage your disability.
I agree with you I believe a disability is something that someone has that hinders them from living a fulfilling life and hinders there life by making it hard to survive. I have type 1 diabetes which I have had since I was 6 and I also have light autism

Well I have SSI and my condtions are listed. Lets see well Disability means by definition its an impairment that may be cognitive, developmental, intellectual, mental, physical, sensory, or some combination of these. So basically i see it as not being able to go about normal way of life and its a way of not being able to have self control of yourself. Everyone may see it different.
