Have you taken Anti-depressants? What have you experienced? [Do Not Share Medication Name or Dosage]
I've only tried [meds name removed by FM @RaCat] and got hallucinations from a single low dose that lasted for a few days (my family always seems to get the weird side-effects). I'm going to try again soon with another type, but I'm honestly pretty scared.
What are your experiences?
I want to hear all about it; the good, the bad, and anything you'd like to share!

Hi!
I took [meds name removed by FM @RaCat] up to the max dose and it did nothing.
[meds name removed by FM @RaCat] up to the max dose and I depersonalized and had suicidal thoughts. Never taking again.
[meds name removed by FM @RaCat], different doses either gave me horrific nightmares or made me sleep so much I couldn't function.
[meds name removed by FM @RaCat], the only one that worked, but only at the max dose. Problem was at the max dose it made me stutter. So I have to take a reduced dose that only works about 30-40% on a good day.
When I told my Dr that the meds weren't enough she had me try [meds name removed by FM @RaCat]. Which gave me abdominal gas so bad it felt like pancreatitis (which I had several years ago) which no medicine would cure and then my hair started falling out. After ONE WEEK of pills. The hair loss happened to my mom too. 50% or more hair loss.
I started [meds name removed by FM @RaCat] (?) months ago. I am happy to say that in conjunction with the [meds name removed by FM @RaCat] on most days I feel about 50-60% more like me.
50-60% may not sound like a lot, but it is huge for me.
@csteger @MoonOrchid @ThisIs543 Hey everyone, thanks for sharing your experience and discussing it together, I know that it can be important to know which meds work better and which works worse but I needed to edit your posts a bit because it's against our site rules to share names of the meds in forum posts. We don't want to encourage misuse and we are trying to protect users from it just in case. When it comes to meds, I personally suggest you talk with your doctor, they can decide which is something that works the best for you!
@RaCat
Ok, I completely understand that. I was just trying to honestly answer the question with my personal experience. I'm sorry I violated the guidelines, It's been a few years since I read them, I'll have to brush up. Though I'm not entirely sure how to answer that question without mentioning names. All drugs are different and effect people in different ways. What worked for me may not work for you, and even if they work the side effects may be differernt for you than they were for me. It's a crap shoot. It just seems like a less than helpful response. We can only do out best, right? Thank you for letting me know about the meds thing. Cheers.
@MoonOrchid
Never used any antidepressants personally.
The effect depends largely on the nature of your disorder. There are dozens of them. Each person is unique
If you have any specific questions, then feel free to ask me or check Canada Drug Pharmacy for info on antidepressants. Hope this helps.
Never got the chance to take anti-depressants. I'd actually love to take them someday(preferably when I'm in a better environment), since it'd make me feel happy that my depression is actually getting treated.
Im not on anything, you guys are lucky that you have the meds. I have not told my mom yet.. so i guess its a long way to go before i culd start on meds.
Hello everyone. I have been on anti-depressants for over 4 years. I would love to get off of them. When I first took them, the first week was horrible. I walked around the block for two hours trying to calm down enough to go in my house. I stopped taking them. My boss at work (an ex army nurse) convinced me to give them a week. I did it and they kicked in. I feel good most of the time. I have good days and bad ones but thats life. Always talk to your doctor and tell them the whole truth.
everyone is diffrent but.
i started about 1 year ago at first i felt nothing, once i upped by does i started feeling alot better. with deppression out of they way i had time to deal with my anxiety. i now am coming off my anti deppressents, things are rocky but im doing good.
I had a long depression from which I was treated with the help of medications. I will not list any drugs that helped me, anyway their name will be deleted here (strange, why do it). But when depression takes a long time, drugs cannot be dispensed with. Only be sure to consult a doctor before taking.
Of the effects of medication, I would have noted some drowsiness and apathy, but they were already present coz of depression.
Antidepressants can now be purchased everywhere, these are very popular medications in the modern world. Personally, I ordered them online here, but there are many other resources, so it's up to you.
Hi guys,
It's okay to be scared about trying meds, it's medication, after all. I would always think about meds as my last resort.
I can remember I was petrified of going on meds some time ago. Many years I've suffered from mood disorder (not specified, I've never been diagnosed) to such extent that I've had severe difficulties reading, studying, socialising, going to school, etc. After a repeated, long series of negative events, I finally decided to try medication, because I was on the verge. I was very desperate and I didn't know where to start, so I went to a medical centre and asked for an appointment with a regular doctor.
I felt quite quilty and ashamed, I can't explain why. It was not easy to find the courage and put my trust in the doctor and medication.
The pills I was given were meant to regulate my sleeping pattern and "activate" me a bit rather than sedate. I was told to wait about 2 weeks to see some results, but actually it wasn't until 1,5 month the meds started to work. I was discouraged, but I knew breaking the treatment would make it all worse. The doc said pharmaceutical companies don't want to tell what the real amount of time needed for meds to start working is, so you should always "add" a couple of weeks to the estimated time written in the patient information leaflet.
As for side effects, I haven't experienced many, besides some involuntary muscle contractions. (Anti-depressants influence one's central nervous system). I'm not sure about the fatigue, though.
Each case concerning meds is individual and I strongly recommend talking to a psychologist, psychiatrist or your doctor, if you have any worries about your health.
I know this might sound stupid, but I have dealt with depression, it hasnt been this bad until now. And I just dont know how to bring it up to my doctor. Im worried that he might not believe me.
@Lemonleash
When you talk to your doctor, be sure to tell them how long it has been going on. (Has it been years? A sudden but intense depression?)
Really emphasize how it is affecting your life, you can even bring a list of symptoms or print out a quiz online to show your doctor. If they can see you're serious about it, you shouldnt have a problem getting meds.
If you have other mental health concerns, you should tell them while you're there, since meds usually treat more than one thing. For example, I'm taking one medication for anxiety AND depression. If I didn't mention the depression, they could have given me a different presciption that doesn't treat both.
I know its a hard thing to talk about, many people are nervous too. I hope you do go to the doctor and it works out :)
Been on a antidepressants for years. The ones with the worst side effects are [MonBon edited medication name] semi helpful to calm my anxiety.
