Music Saved My Life

ciaaraaa695 July 30th, 2017

When i think back to the first stages of my depression, i had no experience on how to cope and deal with this overwhelming sadness. That first year was tough. But as i began to become more aware of social media, i discovered music; not just music in general but music that helped me cope with my feelings. I discovered singers who went through the same as me, and they put my thoughts into words. Now, thinking back, if i didn't have music to help me through some of the toughest days, i may not be here telling you this story.

No matter what, there will always be someone or something that will help you cope, you just need to find it. heart

@ciaaraaa695 Hi Ciaaraa yes there is something or the other that helps cope and its just about discovering that. I am so glad Music was the thing for you. And there is so much in any form of art you take be it music, poetries, writing, painting, sketching pick any there is so much you can express through it, the medium itself becomes your journal of letting the feelings flow through art and a sort of vent out available. There is so much of benefits in art. Thansk for bringing awareness again to that fact by way of expressing how Music did benefit you. Take care and always stay awesome.

I agree. My life and time is mostly devoted to music these days. It makes me feel so much better when I listen to something I can actually relate to. I am so glad to have music by my side when I need it. It is equivalent to a support system for many, and I hope others might be willing to give music a try, because its worth it.

Hi! I love your post, i truly do. You've just shown me and other people that you can make it through depression no matter what- for you it was music while for someone else it might be friends or their lover. Personally, listening to music and enjoying it really helps when you can somehow relate to the singer, then their emotions and feelings make you feel somewhat better. Music has always been my escape and always will be. No matter how good or bad you're feeling music helps just make you feel better. I love this motivating post, I really hope it helps someone else out there! Thank you so much for sharing you experience with 7cups 😊

I agree that there will always be someone or something to help you cope. Music is a great way to feel better and to change your mood quickly. It's also a great distraction! I'm glad you found a healthy coping skill. <3
